Blake is a music producer and singer-songwriter that hosts a live podcast geared to helping musicians and producers navigate their music career in a really grounded way. Blake started his career at the age of 15, writing and performing music in bands, and was offered his first publishing contract at the age of 17 years old.
While playing around the state of Texas as a singer-songwriter, Blake ventured into producing albums for local bands in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He quickly established a reputation of becoming the 'go-to' producer for his signature vintage-retro sound. He began mentoring the artists and bands that he worked with, helping align their careers with their goals. As the internet began shaping the music landscape with streaming, Blake then shifted his career into digital marketing strategies and online artist development.
In 2017 he was then hired to run the Music Career Development department of the Los Angeles Film School. After separating with the college in 2022 due creative differences, Blake moved to Gruene, Texas and started his own podcast and music development system aimed to mentor young musicians. Yes he freaking will!! I am an old lady mom 55 yrs old whose 17 year old daughter played BTS so much I got hooked. We went to the PTD concert in Vegas on the last day, was absolutely Phenomenal!!! I am now more than hooked, but I gotta say JHOPE, seriously, this handsome, talented, caring, human being, the talent he has??!! OMG, he’s more then brilliant. I love rock, classic rock, head banger music, rap, alternative, hip hop, soul, whatever. MORE is a mixture of all of this with telling the story of a compassionate human who worked hard at his craft and succeeded. I want my daughter and our children to learn/understand that the only way to succeed is to work hard!!! Anything less is inexcusable. Hard work pays off, no work get you nowhere. This MORE, OMG, freaking amazing!!!! JHOPE, this mom loves u so much!!!! Please continue to be the humble human being you are and keep setting the example for our children to learn from! I would so much love to be able to follow your legit Instagram account 💚🕺🎤👩‍🎤🕺🕺

Jhope is the shit. He's taken on a sunny persona in BTS for many years, but hinted along the way that he felt limited by that image. I am SO stoked that this "Jack" is out of the box because his stage presence is amazing, this dude was born to perform and I always knew there was more to him than sunshine and rainbows! BTS doesn't have a lot of rock-infused music (maybe in the future!?), but they go hard in Mic Drop, Outro: Tear, Boy Meets Evil (Jhope solo), FIRE, and any of the Cypher songs. Also check out Dope and Black Swan just cuz they're awesome. 😉 As a fan of RATM, Tool, Alice in Chains, Zepplin, etc. I never thought I would be a boy band fan but these guys have wrecked me lol. Welcome to ARMY!!

Expect the unexpected with BTS. 😂 Truly. I screamed at the chorus!!! Coming into BTS after enjoying nu metal in my youth, I am so happy, Hobi made this track. He is a very very interesting, experimental artist. Try his Hope World mixtape. Piece of Peace and Blue Side from it blew me away. And the whole mixtape is fire. And in BTS songs his track Boy Meets Evil really made me notice him. Once you start digging into BTS, you start realising how much talent is in each of them. They are all very different but everyone is so good in their own way. And yes, there is k rock. I'm sure other people will recommend someone, but off the top of my head, Woosung's latest Phase Me is cool. Need Somebody by Day6 is pretty awesome too.

I don’t recommend _only_ using the captions on their MVs though-they are often oversimplified to the point where it takes away from the true sentiment. The Doolset Bangtan blog seems to be the most highly recommended place to go for the English translations

    • @serixskylark
      @serixskylark Před 2 lety +5

@@NatalieMarie917 that’s fair, but often the captions on the music videos are like that so it looks better on paper. The true translations are important, but there’s nothing wrong with them taking some liberties with the captions on the videos so it flows better as long as it doesn’t stray too far from what the Korean lyrics are saying. I feel like we need to start saying to use both the captions while watching and then check the site after, so they can appreciate both the deeper lyrics and the flows of the simplified lyrics.

This is a single off of J-hope’s new solo album that is supposed to release later this month. He already has one called ‘Hope world’. That EP falls more along the lines of rap and hip hop, with a little R&B edge. That’s why so many ARMY were freaking out when he dropped ‘More’. It’s a complete change in sound and honestly I’m living for it. J hope also has solo songs on BTS’ official albums. ‘Boy meets evil’ , ‘Ego’ , and ‘Just dance’ to name a few that you should totally check out. Also feel free to listen to ‘Hope World’ as well.
Whenever you feel comfortable calling yourself an ARMY is when you become one in my opinion. As long as you support the boys and want them to succeed in whatever they do, I’d consider you ARMY. It’d be nice for you to be OT7 but not everyone is and it’s understandable that people tend to gravitate towards one or two people in a group. Whoever you tend to gravitate towards is your bias (another way to say favorite). So you’d be ARMY, and your bias is J Hope. I hope that made sense. I love listening to your commentary and watching your reactions. Have a wonderful day, and remember to keep strong and love yourself 💜

No. 1): Turn on the closed captions so you know what they're saying. No. 2) Read the credits. They tell you who produced this masterpiece. No. 3) Join the club! This took us all by surprise! His other mixtape Hope World was the complete opposite to this. Hobi is our sunshine. He's always "up", always smiling and laughing. No one expected this and we LOVE IT! No. 4) They've all done solo songs within their albums. Besides Jhope's Hope World, RM has done Mono and Suga has done D1 and D2 (mix tapes). I think you'd really love those mix tapes because they seem more to your "style". But this...THIS...is different from anything any of them have done! The name of his new album is called Jack in the box. I hope his whole album will be like this. J Hope's other songs are happy and upbeat. He is the perfect front man but in BTS he doesn't get to shine often.
I'm happy he's in the spotlight. Most ARMY and Hobi "BIAS" don't realize he has a darker side because he tries to be positive and bring the energy. I paid attention to how he behaves and talks when he doesn't know the camera is on him. I was expecting this darker side. He did not disappoint.

Us metal/rock/ARMY fans are so so happy right now. Your face as you watched was awesome, and your excitement as you watched was me. Love me some grunge rock and J-Hope brought it. J-Hope’s mixtape is full of unique songs. Some think they are all light and sunshine and often the music is, but the lyrics go deep. In line with More, sort of, are the BTS rap line/BTS J-Hope songs, I think. Although his Airplane has a darker music line, but it’s not rock really. His music isn’t all that easily captured with a single genre. You can almost always feel his dance background in his music, btw, but yeah, he mixes things up. I’d rec Outro:Tear - the performance at Wembley if you want to see one of the best performances live ever, Boy Meets Evil (too short though), Ugh!, Ddaeng, and the Cyphers (start with 1 and go through all 4 of them, J-Hope wasn’t a rapper before BTS, he was a street dancer, one of the best in SK, and he isn’t that strong in #1, but by #3, he’s there, and I think it is beautiful to watch him grow through those). Honestly, I can’t choose between the 3 BTS rappers, I’m a HUGE SUGA fan, HUGE, his Agust D work is everything, and RM is just god tier, but J-Hope, he’s special. He’s a different kind of rapper. With More, he just raised the bar really really high. I can’t wait for the full album.

It had took me a bit to get into it because I had put jhope in a box and thought of him only making stuff like his Hope World or BTS stuff. I have learned to never put him in a box and to expect the unexpected. He is one of the members who loves to do it all and explore everything. It wasn't until his MAMA performance that I really learned to appreciate His JiTB album. I recommend you watch that solo performance as well as the album. I now listen to the album all day, everyday. Thanks for your reaction. Please make sure to check & enable CC/subs with any BTS-related content because BTS are so globally huge that they have to accommodate their fans (approximately 50 million souls) outside of S.Korea that do not understand Korean language. Yes, K-Rock is a thing, but BTS was born in the K-Pop industry because of their relationship to hiphop/pop/RnB. Since you are somewhat new to BTS & KPop, here is something that you are probably not aware of... K-Pop is primarily pop (well, duh), hiphop & rhythm&blues, with a smidgen of other genres. But here's the thing... KPop was ushered in (inadvertently) by a rock/metal musician. Weird, huh? It's a complex story so I won't get into it here. That metal musician I speak of goes by the name Seo Taiji. He is considered the "Father of KPop". Any bands that have since been made in KPop, including BTS, would then be considered his "children". Taiji has collaborated with BTS before & BTS has covered at least one of Taiji's songs. If you want just a little more "rock BTS", please react to Seo Taiji x BTS "Classroom Idea" from the Time Traveler 2017 concert. You can find a 6-minute or 8-minute clip of it on CZcams & it has captions. Or I can give you links if you can't find it. If you also want to react to Seo Taiji, the legend himself, you can start off with something like his "Feel the Soul" music video from 2 decades ago. There are several others, but you can start there. His heyday was mainly 20-30 years ago but he is still musically active since then. Unfortunately, Taiji does not put captions on most of his videos, so you will have to google lyrics & their meanings. Have fun.

Well, yea, I guess one might say that "K-Rock is a thing". (Just for the records "the term K-pop" is quite controversial, and many argue that it is not used to describe a genre but the name of the industry that creates idols). J-Hope has a previous mixtape called "Hope world": I love it, but it's completely different, definitely more leaning toward hip-hop. I think BTS have many amazing songs, however, they are a hip-hop/pop-based group, and there isn't much in terms of rock. I guess you could try ON: Kinetic Manifesto, Fake Love (both the original version and the literal rock one) and you could try to dive a little in the Cypher series (1-4) by the rap line. If you want to delve particularly into J-Hope music, soon he will headline Lollapalooza in Chicago! Well, I don't know if it might help you" follow" the song better, but subtitles in English are always available (and definitely important for a group lyrically driven as BTS is). I think you might love the special concert BTS held a few years ago with Seo Taiji a pop/rock legend in South Korea. On a sillier note: Taehyung of BTS is actually in the video as one of the employees, did you notice that? :-)

The cool thing about BTS is that they're all super talented and versatile artists, each bringing their own thing to the table, managing to shine both individually and as a group, not afraid to explore different things in both instances. They have found such harmony as a group where the exploration of individuality isn't seen as a threat but as a chance for growth and as something which brings positives both to the individual and the group itself. Each member is able to shine on his own, they're all frontmen in their own way, but they don't let that blow up their ego to the point where they're not also a team and a family. It's a very healthy and beneficial balance, as it allows them to support one another fully in their individual endeavors as well as in their work as a group. So true ARMY knew that j-hope had this in him, we just didn't expect to be hit this hard, which we should've expected bc all BTS members always manage to outdo themselves and often like to blend genres. Watching them grow and explore is such a wonderful experience!

I would like to know more about what every single person does in a song production. I've been love your reactions 💜 It is the first time they hit rock like that. I'm so excited to the solo stuff they are about to do exactly because they probably will bring something different. I would like to see you reacting to Dyonisus, Fake Love and Save me.

I think that Freddy Krouger play drums. J-Hope to pays tribute to rock band SLIPKNOT .Also Hobi put in lyric of MORE to famous surrealist painter spanish Salvador Dali.

K-rock is a thing. Hyukoh is my favourite Korean indi rock group, my favourite song by them is Tomboy, the lead singer Oh Hyuk has an incredible voice, and I really like their lyrics. They do for the most part pretty light rock, not heavy or overly aggressive. Otherwise in the k-pop/rock land there is Day6 and The Rose though I think those are more a blend of rock and pop than what you probably like. My favourite song by Day6 is Zombie, it was number 1 in Korea for a while, the sound is fairly typical pop/rock but I love the lyrics. My favourite song by The Rose is Sorry, the lead singer Woosung has the most uniquely beautiful voice I have ever heard though the music isn't especially unique.
This is J-Hopes first real rock song, but he does have a lot of seriously cool solo music. I love his song Day Dream and Ego, I love how he approaches difficult life events with humour. J-Hope is the sort of person to write a song about depression, but he will be cackling in the face of depression and making fun of it. I like that approach.

J Hope is known to be a really happy kind of person. Sunny they say. If you watch their shows and CZcams clips, the dude laughs a lot. And he laughs loud and strong and frequently falls over because he laughs so hard. I love how this video and the songs plays around with that image.
