heck I would even rather use Quency and she is more economic... There's not many true damage units right now and even then I'd rather use other buffer/debuffer sources and would likely achieve same or better results. Wishlist at best, let's worry about it when actual future true damage units come out. If you're really coping you could pull for one... But B2 is heavily contested right now. The cycle on how shiftup releases new units, they typically release meta units whenever solo raid is live, and release terrible units that no one will use when there isn't a solo raid
seems like the "terrible" units have the best "assets"

@@BushidoBoyd for elegg, she was a good B2 at first, and then Rem came out, in which elegg had to be benched, and then Crown released and Rem had to be benched

@@bashura_0019 Elegg was/is mostly just good for speedrunning SI, Simulation, and specific campaign missions. She was decent for solo raid but even before she got powercrept (and then completely invalidated by Crown), there were still better picks.
Maybe we'll get some absurd True Damage unit that forces constant burst mode from the first burst, meaning Clay will be able to constantly maintain stacks, etc etc etc.
As for the release rate, it's something I can see coming from Magic: The Gathering. You only have so much economy on card/unit releases, when you're releasing so many units/cards some of them need to be fodder otherwise you're overlapping your own creations, allowing for power creep and burning yourself out on creativity.
In Nikke's case, they totally have the option to make slower paced releases and work out WHERE a unit comes out at, although people will drop off between events which come with the units, so that's an issue that would need to be addressed.
Certainly we want Clay('s design) but she has no spot in the game, kit-wise. She should come out -after- we get more true damage units, or my hypothetical unit that enables infinite burst mode that made up above.
Honestly, for the game's sake and likely the skill/character designer's sake, I'd tell them to slow down on releases. If later on Clay (and Bay for that matter) become meta units for some future comps, that's cool, but it feels like they're not releasing in set or preparation, but throwing out pieces and maybe later they'll form an exodia so we can only evaluate how useless they are in this very moment.
Look how shotgun kept getting piecemeal units sprinkled around in varying directions and we're finally feeling like it's got a good feel to it. Most of the time it was Skip, Skip, Skip, oh wait, we have all the pieces now, go get them wishlisted.
very well said. totally agree that they're too frequent on releasing units. and i think maybe about half of these filler units are not even appearing in the main story. now the story has shown us some more nikkes possibly released in the future (drilley liveryn hammering etc.). i bet they'd release them in the future with again just one specific use that likely to be useless until, as you said, the whole use is finally set

Shift up is right to throw them in this order so it doesn't force people to roll for them. Only if you're interested in the archetype.
The point where you're right is that characters like Tove had already a niche to fit in when they released (thanks to Sugar).
Here, I would have liked to compare Clay to a B tier support rather than an S one to really see her utility.
Gacha playing (especially Nikke) is about being patient. Given how true damage has made a resurgeance, she'll probably find a niche down the line. Yes, she'll never be meta, but if you want to play meta, go play a competitive game
Sounds like you want all the "exodia pieces" released in order, this is exactly what they want, they want you to skip untill the 5-team is fully released
I feel like if there was a unit that enabled infinite burst they would be put in an entirely different team unless we get very good true damage units to go with Clay.
ShiftUp is also shooting themselves in the foot with how their end game is designed. Right now because of Solo Raid and Union Raid, the only Nikkes that matter are those that can do high single target damage. Simulation Room Overdrive was a step in the right direction, but it's still in beta so it doesn't matter.
At the very least, there needs to be an end game mode like the Boss EX stages w/ Mobs. That way, at least we could open up the roster to Nikke with AoE abilities.

Agree with you on the shiftup design philosophy issue. And thebsad part is some of the unit could really be good if they just gave them good stats and kits that worked. For example, people waited forever for Ade and she finally gets released but shes below mid. And my gripe with the new bunny girls is that they were apart of squad 777. I get from a lore standpoint why they didnt do it, but imagine if they actually worked with blanc (who needs another squad mate to function at her full potential) and noir and you could have a usable squad of all bunny girls. And this whole wave of sg meta support is kinda dumb if you ask me. Did SG need support yes, but releasing so many support units back to back for a class that people will only use for fun or for niche situations is just disappointing. Cool designs but bad/niche kits. And then they have the nerve to ask if youre saving for the next pilgrim. I cant blame the players that do that. They established that the pilgrims (usually) are the strongest banner releases.
Pulled for Clay, got Modernia. Say what you will this banner gave me a Pilgrim and a bare knuckle fighting Clay who seems to not have co-ordination due to all the blows to the head she received.

If Shift Up are really going to make some character a 40 second Burst....they should of least give them a longer duration skill or higher state.
I honestly dunno why they didn't even bother making her have synergy with Bay. Even if they were mid, at least they can work together like the lore. Such a shame. It's like SU doesn't wanna give us another duo for some reason.

Nah, at least Mast had an actual niche with 2B, Clay practically has none, any other support is better for Laplace
Mast works well with guillotine as well, but yea kinda niche.
@@someguy6152 Mast didn't have a niche when she came out though, just like with Clay now. I mean Mast was okay with Guillotine but not good enough to make her worth pulling for until we got 2B.
@@DaisiesTC But unlike Mast, Clay has a VERY specific buff, Mast still effects all other units, it's just that 2B can use it most effectively, Clay specifically buffs True Damage, which is very rare, only two Nikkes right now can use her at all and she is horrible for Laplace, any other Nikke buffs her better, so even in her very specific niche she is just bad at it.
@someguy6152 I mean masts buff wasn't specific but it also doesn't benefit any character outside of Guillotine and 2B. The max hp increase without any healing means you still have to run a healer with her on solo raid. So its effectively the same as Clay even though the buff technically affects every character.
If she provided a bit of healing too she would have been much better on other teams, and could have run something other than Noise on the 2B team.

Still, it's good to see that she's not meta and that they begin to focus more on niches.
Powercreep plagues the gacga world so badly that I'd rather have niche teams with fun or strange gimmicks than a number stick.
I really hope Shift up will create a mode with very specific rulesets (like, all Raptures being immune to damage except true damage where Clay could shine) that forces you to engage with the character's skillset rather than criticizing them because they're not meta.
We'll see what the future holds.
And yes, releasing supports before the DPS is better because it rewards collectors rather than the meta MLB crew.

Shift up sure loves wasting money. All that time, effort, design, kit creation and testing all wasted. Pretty looking Nikke but she is just not worth rolling for. There's really no excuse for releasing any Nikke with crappy kits. Doesn't have to be the new meta but if they aren't even worth swapping into and existing team for niche use then why bother? Waste of money on the devs part.

I don't understand why they chose to release a support for a none existent archetype, true damage is so nicha its practically none existent.
She could've been a Rocket Launcher support, it would've actually made sense with Bay and it would work well with A2, Scarlet BS and Rem.
They need to release the payout before the support, they did the same with Shotguns, release 2 supports and only after release on payout, which wasn't enough until the second SG Soda

This is not bait. Why do people not know how to use that word correctly? Bait would be something like doing a re-run/banner of top units right before limited seasonal/collab units. Clay is just outright bad. Its bait means it's going to lure you in take a bite and hook you. Clay mediocre skill is the opposite of that.

Even the Liberation NIKKEs are more useful than her which is the most damning thing about Clay's skillset.. Losing to the units that nobody gives a thing since launch even though that you can get them for free technically..
Quency, Nihilister and Guilty have use cases, what the hell are you talking about?
@@foujiz Nihilister never had any uses cases whatsoever lmao. Quency was a decent 20s burst 2 buffer but she offered no burst generation so even in early game story content you would use Anis over her, though she is still useable. But it takes so long to unlock liberation characters that you're probably going to have much better units by the time you unlock them.
The only niche Quency ever actually filled was as a substitution for Mast on the 2B team but makes that team (that already isn't meta) substantially weaker.
Guilty is the only actually useable liberation unit. Not a first choice for any team but still a good substitution on the SG team if you're missing Leona, and is good for SI Grave Digger in the early game if she's the first liberation unit you go for (if she's not you're probably going to have a default SI already by the time you get her).
Is trony better than clay
