As a visible foreigner that lived in a predominantly homogeneous city, people DO treat you differently, that should be obvious. It's nothing malicious, they don't really go out of their way to make you miserable, but they'll ask questions that they won't normally ask people that look like them. It usually comes from a place of curiosity and friendly small talk so it's not really something as hardcore like racism or xenophobia.
Heck, I'd go as far as to say that people that throw those words around casually are the sort of people that haven't lived as a stranger in a strange land and would much rather make up a story of how the world might appear to the so-called "victims" and refuse to actually understand them. They would much rather see the world through their warped looking glass than truly see the world as it is.

I agree with that Jamie guy. Everybody has their own definition of what racism is. While i'm at work. my white coworker is telling me how racism doesn't exist among the whites. its simply not true. I experienced quite a bit of racism as a kid. But i have noticed that it got much better overtime, as the people around me got used to me. Well when i told him that, he was upset that i didn't agree with him.
I felt that most of the time what i precieved as racism wasn't really people trying to be mean, they were bunch of loud mouth that speak without filtering their thoughts, many of them were good people and great friends once you took the initative to break the ice. There are obiviously nut jobs that refuse to accept you. But that's just life you can't get everybody to like you after all.
I disagree with the lady that says everybody stares at them. I moved to a tiny ass town with a population of only 6000 in my early 20s for work, out of the 6000 people there only 3 people were chinese. the other 2 were a couple running a chinese resturant there. Everybody were staring at me. They did so not because they are racists but because of curiosity. They didn't want to speak with me because they were not uncomfortable, probably thought i didn't speak their language, which is natural behavior since i obiviously isn't from their neck of woods. At first like her i did not feel comfortable from all the attentions i'm getting, well now after many years, Everybody treats me like i'm from there. It just takes time to get used to. If you are living in a big city where everyone is a stranger, you just have to suck it up and get used to it i guess.

It's proven in history that the US created lasting peace with overwhelming force against Japan in WWII. A critical part of making that peace last though was the deliberate economic cooperation immediately following the war and for the many decades since. Perhaps a better argument is that peace though force may not be possible today among nations that have nuclear weapons. Any overwhelming force today would mean the end of all life on earth. However, does that mean that any nuclear nation can do wars of choice and conquest without consequences? It's a dilemma with no easy answer.

Trump in contrast is a simpleton and speaks of fire and fury, but at least he speaks his mind and people understand his populist feelings, and that while he likes sabre rattling against China and that he really likes protectionism and tariffs, he's also a guy who bromanced Kim Jong-un with love letters, and that he could eventually come to terms with the Chinese.

The largest ethnic Japanese population outside of Japan is in Brazil. Yet, when Brazilian-Japanese visit Japan they get the worst racism of any foreigner. It is absolutely true that Japan is a 'closed-society' with very little tolerance for foreign involvement either socially or commercially. There is much more openness in China than Japan, and that may seem contrary to media disinformation. Not that China is any model for diversity, but they are more open to acknowledge their cultural biases than Japan. Strategically Japan is very important to the USA, but Japan knows it must deal carefully with China or its economy will fail, so Japan may join with US economically and militarily, but knows it must deal carefully with China.

The Americans or the Chinese? Not that difficult to choose. China, for its part, has also alienated many trading partners. Americans write rules in their favour -- and they enforce rules in their favour, but there are at least rules. The Chinese make it up as they go along and they're even more willing to harm others, even for minor diplomatic disagreements.

I haven't really ever met a lot of Japanese people but the handful i have were really interesting. I'm a truck driver and one night 2 Japanese men started following me in the parking lot of the truck stop. I'm black and a big guy so it felt strange that these guys weren't afraid of me. At first i thought maybe i was imagining it but they were clearly following me. I stopped turned around and said, 'what?' The one closest to me asked 'do you know how to break into a truck?' Instead of getting insulted and saying that was racist i said, 'of course i do. where's your truck?' We walked back to their truck and I couched them on every trick i could think of to get into that truck. None of them worked. The head guy who i think was the boss asked, 'now what?' I said 'honestly bro I think you're just going to have to break the glass.' Without hesitation he starting looking on the ground grabbed the biggest rock he could find and tossed it as hard as he could throw the glass. I just stood there in shock for a second turned back toward him and asked, 'is there anything else i can help you with?' He said, "No." I then bowed to him and said, 'OK then goodnight gentleman.' The boss bowed back and I turned around and went back to my truck. It's a crazy story but i swear it's 100% real. I've been wanted to tell it for 7 years...😂

This video raises many issues that are too complicated to comment on adequately. But let's start with "Win-Win" is a losing proposition. One party's gain is the other party's loss. It's called capitalism. It's a dynamic process that changes.
Japan is suffering? I remember when Japan had so much cash it went on a buying spree that inflated housing in Hawaii, to give one example. And how did Japan manage all that cash? Not well, which led to the "lost generation".
But not to worry, somebody is making money, and LOTS of it , e.g. LVMC, as profits go upstairs as Japan moves toward an investment-driven economy where anonymous entities expect a return at the expense of those producing that wealth.
It doesn't matter who is president, as evidenced by the fact the American "shining democracy" has produced just these two decrepit candidates, who symbolize Amerika 2024.

I don't want to trivialize the Japanese point of view, but these reasons are at least somewhat delusional.
    1. Inflation --
Cost of importation is not rising because of inflation; inflation is rising because of the rising cost importation; cost of importation is rising because of rising cost of oil; cost of oil is rising, most significantly, because of the war in Ukraine.
The war has negatively affected the entire globe's economy. It just happened during Biden's administration.
While the U.S certainly has some degree of responsibility to anyone who relies on U.S dollar -- Japan carries the foremost responsibility for Japan's economy.
And just because Trump played golf with the P.M doesn't mean he would lift a finger to help Japan.
    2. U.S occupation of Japan --
    A) Japan was occupied by the U.S before Biden.
    B) Were Trump to pull out from NATO, which he doesn't have the authority to do even as President, the U.S would still occupy Japan.
    C) Were the U.S to withdraw its forces from Japan, Japan would have to significantly increase its defense budget spending which would further damage the economy.
People seem to be under the impression that if Japan disassociated itself from the U.S then Russia/China would suddenly warm up to it. It's not necessarily untrue, it's just a severe misrepresentation reality. China would seize the opportunity. You would just replacing one 'host' with a worse one. A smaller country cannot exist without having some level of attachment to a global power. If you prefer China to Japan then so be it, but don't pretend your economy, or borders, would be better for it.
    3. Xenophobia --
As you described, people interpreted his comment as him calling Japanese people 'racists'. But Xenophobia is more accurate to the words that you say Japanese people agree with.
Racism is the core belief that a people are inferior to another. Xenophobia is simply fear of foreigners.
Also, asking people who are accused of something if they are that something is irrelevant as opposed to the people who actually experienced that something at the hand of those people.

They do not shy away from parading around, waving signs on which the following is written: "Whether they're good or bad, kill all Koreans" etc. They have no remorse of what they had done during WW2 but instead they focus on the victim mentality, how badly they were treated by the US etc. They don't reflect upon their own actions. The US literally forged the Japan of today. It's not because they're so "peaceful" of their own. I find their people to be extremely hypocritical. Nobita himself admitted to have hated the US for the bombs yet I'm sure he never once gave a damn about the things Japan has done to its neighboring countries. He's just disillusioned and wants to push his own agenda.

Most people go to another country to experience the culture and the landscape, as they saw it in promotional adds. Tourists don't really think too much about the native people of the country they're visiting. Its extremely possible for Japan (and basically any country, to be honest) to be racist and xenophobic and still be a popular tourist attraction.
Also: now its the time when all those years of Japan refusing to deal with their involvement in the WWII are going to come back to bite the country in the ass. Most of Asia would prefer to join China against Japan, every day. Japan needs to find a way to sweet-talk its neighbours, because the idea of getting more military power could end up like the last time.

Regarding studying abroad in America, as an American I forget that it's very highly regarded to study in America. Though its become so expensive even for Americans, but for international students it costs almost double. As an engineering major in university, I kind of saw the international students as very rich and well off. I believe that the reality of American university is that its more of a business and the revenue comes mostly from international students, so those international students were more likely to be admitted into our universities than the local students.
