Thank you for all the information. I’ve been waiting for your December video because I’m visiting Iceland next month. Love all your videos, very informative and fun to watch
When watching this, I would love to go back right away. I was there last month but it was way too short. I especially loved the icy, fairytale like landscape around Dettifos
Yes, I have pictures from early December, the sunrises were pink and orange! Fabulous
I only just watched this!!! Jeannie... so humbled that you included my DM! I am definitely returning to Iceland this year for another road trip to gorge on landscapes and podcasts.
Thank you for this. Definitely will be so helpful for us and make the necessary changes to our itinerary
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Hello Jeannie, my birthday is january 1st so it was just like you when i was a kid!! I know what you are talking about.
I want to thank you for your videos, i love them. I am preparing a trip to Iceland from january31 to february 11 and your videos make me dream about my future trip. 💙
I'm so glad you find them helpful! Thank you!
So excited visiting from December 2nd. Great video thanks so much.
Enjoy your trip! You're going to love it!
Will agree with the driving, we went in January, and even though (being from Minnesota) have driven in snow and ice a lot, was quite the experience. Couldn't believe people trying to drive around snæfellsnes peninsula without a 4 wheel drive vehicle!
Isn't it though! I always go for the 4WD in winter, safety first! 😉
Thank you. I was thinking of coming for my birthday. My birthday is the 29th so I totally know how you feel.
Nice :) your sign is Capricorn (Dec 21 - Jan 19). Me too! 23rd December here.. All the very best wishes from Stockholm
I'm going to Iceland for the first time on the 27th December to the 2nd January I'm really looking forward to it x
Going on the exact same dates!!!
Were you able to see northern lights? Im going those dates too. Any tips?
Yes xx
I'm born 30th too. Wow interesting. Ég bý í Reykjavík,sure we will bump into each other one day. Sjáumst!
I think this guide works for january too ^^
Excellent information. I'm visiting this December and it sounds like December will be a different and unique experience. I'm even more excited now! This may sound weird, but I think it will be cool to experience this 5 hours of day light!
When are you going in December? So am I, we're renting a car...scared but excited lol
@@wingiethewise5058 Yesss! We were afraid to drive so we are using buses and cabs.
@@cspel002 we heard it was expensive so we decided to rent, will you be there for xmas?
@@wingiethewise5058 no ☹
@@cspel002 ok well have fun and be safe😊
Damn... Now I really want to go.
Thanks for the tips 😀 I just realised I don't want to go there on December...hopefully in summer time.
Happy to help!
@@IcelandwithaView is the discount code still valid?
Thanks for all your videos. What do you recommend for PJs in December? I know it really depends on the heating wherever you're sleeping but do you think shorts and t-shirt would be ok or should I go for long-sleeve flannel?
I'm planning a trip this December! I'm excited to see what's in store! Thanks for the video, great information! Is your code for the car rental still valid?
I'm planning to go too
So my friend and I would like to visit in January 2021 (if covid doesn't mess things up!) and was wondering your thoughts on getting sand and ash protection on cars in winter? Is it necessary all year round? If I was visiting in the summer I wouldn't think twice but just wanted to know what your thoughts would be for visiting in early Jan? Thanks!!
T- 3 weeks and counting (very excitedly) down!!!
We left Iceland just 24 hours before the mega red weather storm. What a trip and what a miss! Thanks for all your videos 👏. We’ll be back in a few years when the Aurora is stronger
Hello, I will be travelling in May 2020 and was wondering if you had any budget tips or have thought about doing a video on this subject?
I have a few videos on this from budget friendly places in Reykjavik to saving money on campervanning through the country. This one is a pretty general video that might help you: icelandwithaview.com/19-easy-ways-save-money-trip-iceland
Thanks for this post. I suppose I could apply this to January? as that's when i'm going. I wouldn't have thought about crampons, looks like I may need to purchase some. Hello from UK :)
Would you need the specialized gear for February and March? Would just shoes with good traction be okay?
Hello! I really appreciate your videos - thank you so much! So... may sound silly, but.... can I just buy spikey crampons in downtown Reykjavik? I just don't wanna have to put 'em in my bag then be forced to check in my luggage.
Hi, would be very helpful if you could help.me with some info. In the beginning of December is it possible to visit the volcanic erruption and are there any bus trips from BSI terminal
Hi. Am travelling to Iceland December 17th. Will it be hard to get a taxi in grindavik to the blue lagoon ? It’s 8K away. Also will it be okay to get a taxi from the airport ?
Wow
I’ll go to Iceland next week, first time, we rented a 4x4 jeep, hopefully it’ll be fine. What’s the emergency number to call in case something bad happens?
Love your channel! Could you do a video on how to pump gas in iceland? What if my credit card has no pin number (it usually uses signature as verificiation)? Would I have trouble pumping gas at unmanned gas stations? Is there a button to press to bypass the pin?
Great questions! Icelanders usually pay for everything by credit or debit card. Payment with cards use the chip-and-pin method. If you don’t have a chip on your card you can sign for the purchase. Most people don’t even carry cash because paying by card is so common. If you don't have a PIN, you can request one from your credit card company.
@@IcelandwithaView Thanks so much for responding! I called my credit card company. They said they can only give me a 6 digit pin. Will this be an issue? Do unmanned gas stations in Iceland only accept 4 digit pin?
i wonder whether those 10-14h tours in Island to the waterfalls and diamond beach etc do make sense in December, since there is only 4 hours of daylight there. what do you think?
Great question! The drive from Reykjavik to Diamond Beach is 5 hours one way (in decent weather) which means you'll be driving in the dark for a lot of the tour and you'll miss the beauty of Iceland from the car windows. If you definitely have to stay in Reykjavik for your whole trip AND you definitely don't want to rent your own car, then a tour will be fine to go all that way to Diamond Beach and Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. BUT, taking more time to get there and renting your own car will allow you to see SO much more, even in the limited daylight of December.
Oh noo we are literally coming for the northern lights at the start of December 😭 thought they would be a high chance we would see them! :( thanks for the video x
Hi, did you get to see them? I'm travelling this year also in the first days, I'm curious if I should change them
Same! I’m traveling in December and wanna know if it’s even worth it. I really wanna see the northern lights
@@PrettyBunny112have you seen it?
@@nyuserehave u seen it?
@@joaostimamiglio459 we tried 2 different days and couldn't see them clearly 😪
You should connect with Hrafna...x
I'm traveling to Iceland in January 2020. Got a great deal on flight and hotel for 5 days. Will you send me the link on your January video? Do not know what I'm going to do for 5 days but I just want to see Iceland.
Thanks so much for watching! Here's the link for you: icelandwithaview.com/january-iceland
1. Iceland really needs a biathlon team. Greenland has international results.
2. Glad you mentioned Christmas. Brattahlíð!
You sang choir, you mentioned? You mentioned growing up in the Midwest USA? Sorry, can't detect your accent after decades of TV... did you by chance sing at St. Olav's in Northfield? (Norðurvöllur, Minnesota?) If, so, I know you can carry a tune, kvinne (b/c we all spoke Norwegian, at least, on the knorre... live sheep, cattle pigs... and horses and all. Those shipboard horses could stolt.
Med Island crossfit kvinner er det ingen som kan stå på ski og skyte?!?
Iceland is a place I’d like to visit. But isn’t Iceland in December sort of redundant?
We will be in Iceland during the week of Christmas. Since daylight hours are short and we're only staying there for 4 days, my wife and I would like to take every opportunity to adventure out to the lands even during the dark.
Are exploring waterfalls during dark hours recommended? Any recommendation besides Reykjavik. Gladly appreciated!
Did your trip happen (covid)? If so, what was your experience?
there are hardly any light even on the roads i am not sure if you can see anything...it will be like being in the forest at night. But I am curious if you did it and what is your impression;)
@@yzScott the highlands is definitely not recommended as it was pitch black. I tried going to Gulfoss around 9 am and it was still dark so the scenery was not as fantasing as it was during the day time (11am - 3:30Pm).
@@drrMonManon yes you're right, only reflectors on the main road. Basically it's pure darkness if you're on the road which gave me a mixed feeling of being adventurous/freaking out if I had a flat tire. We book a tour to watch the Northern Lights and basically just hung around Reykjavik at night. Overall I love the trip, great scenery and food.
@@waing4686 thanks for response :) I was visiting two weeks ago, so in the middle of the summer season and there was sun all the time but i was also thinking about trip to iceland in winter but it is a whole different story in winter ;) did you see northern lights?
Hi I am planning to visit December 2022 , do you please advise me important things

Where is December 32nd?
2:24 Didn't you mean the shortest day of the year is approaching us?
What part of December in Iceland makes you want to travel during this winter month?!
I've only been to Iceland twice (boohoo) early December. In 2017 it was pretty cold, was -14c.....just loved it we were totally prepared. In 2018....it was warmer and had some rain, we were ready to ditch the parkas! Would like to come back in early September :)
god no!
