    I miss my 91 trooper so much 😢. It was my very first car. Came with a 5 speed with the 2.6l 4 cyl. Miss those days 👍

    Got a 98', 5-speed. Took me to Alaska and back. 245k and going strong. Loved the vid!

    I was looking for a cheap offroader and was considering but hesitant about a first gen Trooper. I think you just convinced me 😅

    I have a '91 V6 with 235K on it. I recently discovered that there is an oil pressure switch that is sensed such that when the main fuel pump relay goes out, the backup relay is triggered when the fuel pressure switch goes off (or goes low, I guess). This is detected by the ECU. That way the Trooper can start even if the main fuel pump relay goes out. It was a long road of troubleshooting to figuring this out - thought I'd have to replace the fuel pump at first!

      Electrical Sensors can always be tricky. I’m glad you figured it out though.

    Sir, I am amazed at your skills and inventiveness. I have a 1993 Trooper in need of some repairs and paint. Not much if any rust. Only 125,000 miles. Runs well, but some problems finding a proper brake booster. Would love to have someone with your talent do what you did to yours, to make it safe. I did have a timing belt brake, but no noticeable damage to the engine, which promptly shut down. I would pay lots to get my Trooper into trustworthy state. Better than any new SUV. Anyway, if you continue on youtube, you will become one of the "go to" channels for expert knowledge. Keep up the good work. Thumbs up!

      Thank you for the kind words. I agree, troopers are one of the better vehicles ever made. I do wish they had a timing chain instead of a timing belt. Again, thank you for the kind words.

    I've always liked these Troopers. I want a first year model, and swap the running gear with something modern. But they are very hard to find.

    Here a tip, theres a thermovalve on top of the thermostat housing, if someday that thing broke just cap the line that goes to the intake manifold and connect the othe 2 lines left from the intake tube to the solenoid in the fender

      @SpikerDragon95 The trooper seems to surge after it has warmed up when coming back down to idle after driving… (like coming to a red light) do you know what might cause this?

      @@jetproject7955 well I start by basic tune up, plugs, wires, rotor, and probably calibrated valves, I was having an hideus misfires, turns up the recently buy NGK plugs went bad, replace all by BOSCH and no problemo, well recently I got a couple of fuel leaks in the inlet of the fuel rail, the copper washer that seal the inlet in the banjo bolt went bad and now a fuel injector are leaking in the o rings that settle in the fuel rail

    • @jetproject7955
      @jetproject7955  Před rokem +1

      They are overall pretty reliable in my opinion, they have limited technology which is a good thing. Andrew Camarata (a great CZcams channel) has had a few Troopers, and he talks very highly of them. One thing to look out for is rust inside the frame, as well as making sure the timing belt has been replaced recently. If the timing belt snaps it will really hurt these engines.
