Meanwhile, the men over at the Heritage Foundation, a wealthy, right-wing think tank swarming with former Trump administration officials, have published a very detailed plan -”Project 2025”- for the next Republican president, with a section on abortion detailing the stripping of women's rights. Pregnant women will be asked to, if possible, track down the men who impregnated them and ask them to marry them and help them raise the children.

Things like cancelling head start and other programs that help kids are what let you know none of this is about "saving babies." They couldn't care less about babies or children.
They never have, never will care about anyone outside of their "base". The hard conservative ideologues found a home in the Republican party, because that party more became regressive after being unable to totally fulfill Newt Gangrich's "Contract With America". Now they will take any authoritarian position that might keep them in power.
They only care about the babies and children whilst they are still in the womb. But reality they don’t care about the women. The women are just there to be incubators for the children to be.
It's about them, they can afford to educate their children but everyone else will be at a disadvantage. It's class warfare.

My experience working in Ob/Gyn So many men run away, even when the pregnancy is planned. Men have free will and often flee bc they change their mind. How can you punish women for decisions men make or don’t have control over ?

I went from what my family was called Middle Middle Class from when my parents got married in 1954, to my brother in 1956 and me in 1959, to Poor! It was then I heard for Poor being called low income, the needy, the underserved, the Under Class, the penniless, the destitute. Both parties are too concerned with making Middle Class lives better and they’re hardly suffering. They have no clue what it’s like to lose things! They don’t know what it’s like to be on the brink of homelessness, they’ve never gone a day hungry. Republicans and Democrats if they bother to even acknowledge us, we’re not called Poor but all those other insulting names as if saying the word Poor, teeth would start falling out and do their best to make life easier for Middle Class. In other words a stupid cast system? My mom finally decided to try dating again a couple of years after my dad died, and one dude (who had also lost his spouse) had the audacity to propose to her with "it would be a bigger tragedy than either of our losses if you didn't marry me" and proceeded to throw a multi-month fit that she disagreed and broke it off with him

As a white woman, I hear you all. I have always been a fierce democrat and feeling like I am fighting an uphill battle in regards for rights for women. ALL women. I am continuously amazed that women are voting for these people who are trying to take away all these rights. It’s maddening and infuriating to say the least. Why are we still having these discussions in 2023?

I'm also a white woman, and I'm terrified of starting a family with my partner. If something goes wrong inside of me I may not be able to get the Healthcare I need. And I'm fearing where this is all going in a legal sense. If a child naturally dies in my womb, am I doomed to sepsis and facing prison? And if my child survives and happens to be a daughter, what kind of world will she face?

My sister started a family through artificial insemination, because her clock was ticking, she wanted a family and she wasn’t going to wait around for Mr Right anymore, and her twins were delivered through caesarian by a male Doctor who treated her like crud because she didn’t need a husband in her life and that bothered him. By definition, a republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according to the will of the majority. Although these forms of government are often confused, they are quite different.
Very important message here. Except for those women totally under the thumbs of whatever male influences exist in their lives, I cannot understand how any woman in this country could vote republican. And women need to remember, for those in controlling situations, nobody will know how you vote when you get behind that curtain. If not for yourselves, vote Democrat for every girl and woman in your life that you love.

If that family includes children, it's near impossible to survive on one income. My family lives on one income, that being my husband's. (I'm disabled but plan on with working from home if we decide to have children.) We do fine, but we live in a cheaper place and as I stated have no children. It used to completely baffle me. Now I'm just afraid. There's a scene in that book where he talks about accelerating the tempo of life.... pushing people to live and breed, work and die, on a shorter and shorter time line to power the war machine and enrich those in power. How is it that these groups always want to cancel "Head Start" ? Ronald Reagan succeeded in canceling it in the early 1980's - only for him to give it back in exchange for "Social Security" reform ("reform" that increased deductions but we are also still "paying back" in loans to the general budget).
Up until Reagan, we did have free college tuition at many public colleges and universities. He managed to cancel that and we still haven’t gotten it back.

The Democratic Party got sidetracked into a milder form of neoliberalism after Reagan did serious damage to unions that had funded Democrats. But to my surprise, Biden seems to be moving away from those policies, which is what we need. The FTC going after monopolies is new. Medicare negotiating drug prices for the first time is not business as usual. And unions are growing with his support. I wish the media would quit chasing clicks with horse race polls and report on the substance of policy differences of the two parties.
As a lifelong independent, I never expected to be saying vote blue, but with the authoritarianism that has developed on the red side…blue it is! All the way down the ballot!
Goes back to eugenics. The children who benefit the most from such programs are from marginalized communities - racial minorities and poor whites. In other words, undesirables. These people don't want to help black and brown babies or white "trailer park" babies. Also de-funding head start and similar programs ensures a constant supply of future lower class workers to exploit in the economic sector. The proof: many of these same states are passing laws to allow children as young as 14 to drop out of school so they can work full-time.
