I was taught airbrush basics by an old boss of mine. Instead of taking the airbrush apart every time he had me spray the brush cleaner through the airbrush (usually into that little container) and then do the same with some water. I'd also fill a cup with water and dunk the front of the airbrush in and blow bubbles to help clear the path too. It worked great.
We only really took the airbrush apart to change needles if someone dropped it or the few times people used it but didn't clean it so it got really clogged.
I'm sure that's not a very professional method, but it's definitely a time saver, especially for people afraid of taking the airbrush apart so much!
Really handy tip!
I thought it would be an absolute pain to clean it every time the colour gets changed.
Thank you for this advice, this is the information I was looking for because there has been an easier, faster way to clean airbrushes, if that was the case having to take it apart and clean it every time to use a different color, it's just ridiculous.
Thanks. I took mine apart and now I’m struggling to get it back together. And it was only the first time I’d ever used it 🤦♀️
Now I feel way more relaxed before my first airbrush usage. On my final steps to my diy Paint booth from spare parts, too. Thank you silverdragon1313
Thank you so much!
Benny! blink twice if you are in any sort of danger or being held against your will.
HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Lol 😂
XD
😂😂😂
Benny, try using the Vallejo "Flow improver" instead of the airbrush thinner. The thinner is designed to make your paint dry faster which leads to more clogs. The flow improver is the opposite, and it allows you to keep on spraying for longer without clogs. I add some to every acrylic paint I use in my airbrush, even the premixed airbrush paints. Also people should know that the alclads have very toxic fumes, and need to be cleaned with lacquer thinner.
Or use good quality airbrush paints instead. Tamiya, Gunze, Hataka Orange Line preferably with Mr Hobby Levelling Thinner. AK Extreme Metal for metallics. Clogging shouldn't be a problem

@@michass.1895 lol, if you can GET those where you live or at least don`t have insane import regulations as we do in Norway :p
Only air come from brush
Pls help
Wonderful! Haha yall are such goofballs and I love it! Thank you very much Benni for "not" being forced to do this. I got an air brush kit very close to yours and have never used it due to no experience. But I will now! 😎 again thank you!
Benni, I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this video right now (even though I already watched it when it came out) because I got an airbrush for christmas that has been sitting around until almost a month later because I was so scared of trying it out since the instruction manual didn't cover anything like cleaning, so bless you (and Svetlana's advanced painting book) for helping a girl out! I was able to already create a decent gradient on my first try :D (let alone now blowing up the airbrush)
Thanks for the nice feedback! Glad the video helps!
Thank you for everything both of you do, and also in english!
Thank you Benni, you are a fantastic artist in your own right, I've just inherited an airbrush set and large amount of paint for my model making and this is the best explanation how to use and clean the equipment I've seen so far, thanks for sharing.
this video made my day, you and benni are so funny together
ah maaaan i just love your humor and energy! and also hats off for both of you talking in english even it's not your first language. keep doing your stuff its amazing and makes me laugh everytime with joy :)
im wheezing benny’s personality from the clips that weren’t a part of the tutorial contrasts so well with svetlana’s-
You guys are the best. Meeting you in Utah years ago was an enormous highlight for me. Thanks for all you do.
Very refreshingly informative !!! It has been 20 years since I last used an airbrush and I am just coming back to it. This was a huge help...
This was great for me because I just got my first airbrush today in the mail. I had a few problems I think you've answered for me. Thanks man, I really appreciate it. You two keep this channel awesome. I love it. 😁
Thank you for the tutorial Benny I was needing something like this!
I love how you break things down simple and descriptive thank you I’m thinking about purchasing one. Yes and the book as well! Love you both!
This has been such a huge help! I was nervous going into using mine but I feel more confident with this video thank you!
This video came at the perfect time. Been watching your other videos and just bought an airbrush. Thanks!
That was so helpful ❤️ Everything you two do is so great and I love your energy with which you convey everything in your videos! Thank you so much ❤️
It's cold and it snowed last night and I'm watching your channel just to cheer me up. It's working!
I just bought my first airbrush, and this video was super helpful! Thank you for making it!
Thank you Benny! Would love to see more videos on your painting techniques, maybe some advanced airbrushing techniques. Thanks to both of you for the great content!
I've been painting with airbrushes for a good two years now and this has just blown my mind. I have so many problems cleaning my airbrush, I hadnt even thought about using a regular paintbrush to help. Thanks so much!
I am so glad that whenever I start some new aspect of prop making you already have a video explaining it to me. Now to grab some paints
Thank you so much for this video. Because of your work, I bought my first airbrush for my birthday. I have started using it today. It's taking so getting used to but I really like it.
Woah, I bought an air brush machine like a year ago, never used it until a few days ago. Gave up because my spray pattern is all over the place. Thanks for the video!
Benni and kamui always have funny additions to Their videos and I am here for it.
Omg, I wish my husband helped me paint my projects! You are one of a kind Benny! Keep up being a great hubby 😊
This video is awesome! You did a great job Benni, thank you for sharing this with us!❤❤❤
You guys are amazing and hilarious. Thank you for all that you do! You rock!!!
Thank you so much *^* I'm currently struggling with my first airbrush. Your video came just in time
Always on time ;)
This is wonderful!!! I got that same model of airbrush as my first one. I can't wait to try it out using your methods. Thank you Benny!!!
Thank you for this. I was always afraid of using an airbrush but now I will definitely try it out
U guys are the dreamteam of cosplaying!!!ty for sharing your knowledge!!

Benny: "it helps me to paint Svetlana's crap a lot-"
Svetlana: *instant kill* (finish him)
Svetlana: So you have chosen... FOAM.
Best introduction to airbrush i've seen so far! Thanks a lot
Thank you Benny! This was SO HELPFUL! This channel is the flipping best XD
Thank you, Benni! You really helped ease my anxiety for learning to paint with an airbrush.
Can't wait to get my airbrush and paint station set up. Thanks Benny!
Best Husbando 11/10
this may sound a bit mad but i find listening to your videos really calming, as well as watching all the cool stuff you two make.
This video actually answered a lot of questions I didn't even know I had about airbrushing. It just seemed like some complex machine
As soon as I look for a solution to a problem, you leave a video that explains everything and helps me. You hit the bullseye every time, you must have a talent, or something like ^^
Maybe we're watching you! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
KamuiCosplay Omg it's creepy !
Another great video Benny, I need to get an airbrush to make better models haha
Thank you so much for your video. I'm a mural artist been using brushes and thinking of going straight to airbrush to give the mural a professional look instead of stitchy job work horrible brush marks. I'm so going to get a airbrush as they are so much more neater to manage your work on walls. Thanks for sharing 👍
Danke für das Video! :)
Acrylic paints are really a blessing. When I think of the solvent based Revell paints from the 90s... it was a fight with the Air Brush. Each time disassemble and clean completely. Otherwise you had no chance.
I am a simple girl...
I see Benny...
I instant like
Świetny kanał ^^ / Good channel ^^
I feel like Kamui Cosplay produces a new video every time I have a question about something and it’s almost freaky 😅
Amazing tutorial!!
Excellent and love your quirkiness! I am going to repaint deep scratches in my car...with lots of practice on some cardboard!
I love you guys. Your videos are funny and informative. I’ve nearly watched all of them at this point. Keep doing what you do!
Toll, vielen Dank!
I was waiting the whole time for you to write 'BUY MY BOOKS!' with the airbrush. Thank you for not disappointing 🤣 and thanks for the very informative, useful video.
Hehe
awesome vid bro. straight to the point with a simple explanation for everything. sweet as. from New Zealand.
I love your videos. Thank you for being so helpful for us new to cosplay. Also, the little humor you put in the videos makes me laugh.
Keep up the great work!
Benny is the unsung hero
Oh he sings pretty often. Mostly in the car...
2019 is Year of Benni! Yey!!!
3 years later and this video is still useful! Great job ! got this channel a follow :)
This video was incredibly informative and comprehensive. I really appreciate it. Thanks!
Benni, I’m not try to be negative, you’re presentation is very good and you give good explanation as well.
Please don’t take this the wrong way. My only comment which is easy to correct is that you have two moisture traps on your compressor. One is a combination moisture trap and air regulator and then you have another moisture trap attached before you get to the hose. The second one should be at the air inlet or base of the airbrush.
Let me explain why, when you compress air it gets hot and when air gets hot it can hold more moisture then at room temp. So the air coming out of the compressor is hot and depending on where you live or time of year, it will be full of moisture. By the time it passes through your moisture traps it has not had a chance to cool off and for the moisture to condense so it flows straight past both traps. As it flows in the hose it has a chance to cool down and release the trapped moisture as condensation on the inside of the cool hose.
By placing the smaller moisture trap at the airbrush the moisture trap will do its job and stop the condensed water from going through the airbrush.
Thanks for the awesome tip!!
Benny videos are great, the corgis should also do a tutorial con how to be so cute (:
Bionicokura what do you think they would show us?
Step one: Be a corgi.
Step two: Success.
Thx, I have had this one for years and never used it, I’m going to try it now. great video
What a great video I just got an airbrush and wasn't sure how to use it. You made it less intimidating for me now. Thank you. 😊
We don’t deserve you, Benni. T^T
He is the hero the world needs, but not the one, we deserve.
I’m grateful TwT
@AW Ames your a stupid ass ashole
great video I'm in the middle of the learning curve atm so this really helps!
one question though. What varnish do you guys use?
Mostly LUKAS Spray Varnish
Ihr zwei seid meine Superhelden! Vielen, vielen Dank für eure tollen Videos - und Bücher!
That is the info I needed, definitely I will buy the book. Thank you so much!
oh wow, actually started getting into airbrushing my cosplay stuff myself.... got an airbrush, wanted to check up on extra tips and tricks...
i have the exact same timbertech airbrush set :P
Hey... after a year how do you like that timbertech .... ive read it tends to over heat??
@@dereksitko2622 yes thats correct. Its obviously most annoying in the summer, after about half an hour of almost constant use the compressor tends to become quite warm. The airbrush itself works lovely and although I'm sure there's better airbrushes out there, i would deffo recommend it to start with.
As for the compresser overheating issues, I tend to make cosplay props as well as paint miniatures and i noticed that for larger props where you wanna airbrush a large surface, it's not the best fit and a better/larger compressor would be more suited, but for miniatures where you usually just prime/basecost a few at a time or use it for some shading and detailing it works quite well, since there's enough downtime for it to cool down. But as i mentioned, unless you live somewhere very hot, it should be able to handle 30ish mins of non stop abuse, which just means you need to take longer breaks between layers to ensure that not only the paint has dried (which doesnt take long with airbrushing IMO) but also so the machine cools down enough, so although it's far from perfect, its still doable and works well enough ^^
Hope this helps ^^
@@psychotimo thanks for the reply! Indeed helpful!
"Helps me to paint Svetlana's crap..." I'm still crying at this
Thanks for your tutorials. You guys have really helped me learn a lot
Thank you so much! I will be getting into this very soon. And you did great explaining everything I was curious about. Great video.
Go Benny!
I would really love to know how this spray booth works and what I would need to build it... 🤔
Spray booth works just like exhaust fan.
Buying one today, thanks for the tip about blocking and pressing the air to bring up the air bubbles in the paint container. Also for cleaning it’s. Never used one before but always using spray paint so this will be great.
Love all benny’s videos super funny and its a good mix.
I have a question!
Do I need good ventilation to paint with an airbrush?
(I have a spare room in the cellar that I am thinking of converting into a hobby room, but I am worried that it's going to get really fumy in there and I end up having to cancel the whole project... are there fumes involved?)
It depends what paints and thinners you use. If you use the thinners shown in the video it wont be fumy. Lacquers and enamels are deadly. If you spray in a room for a long time you may find that a light paint film builds up in the surrounding area. Small particles of paint are bad to breath in, so I strongly advise wearing a mask. There are small, cheap spray booths that you can buy on Ebay if you have the cash and think you are going to do this again in the future. They are small though, so many projects wouldn't fit into them.
Yes you do need good ventilation when using an airbrush for long periods, also you should always wear a mask, whether you are spraying solvents or water base paints.
I admit - I go back and watch the bit about Svetlana’s crap a lot, just to laugh. 😂
When I have been primarily airbrushing for years instead of craft acrylics and brushes but I still enjoy your vids and learn something new!!!
Airbrushing looks like a lot of fun! Bonus points for the banter back and forth and making such a well-made video!
5:45 *THIS*
SEND HALP FOR BENNI! I REPEAT, SEND HALP! XD hahaha
Amazing and super informative as always. Thank you so much. I got an airbrush for Christmas and I can't wait to use it
It's like you know what I need for my next cosplay and are making videos for it, love it
The two of you are the best!
I love your videos.
Thank you!
Oh my goodness, ya'll made my day with this video! Not only is it informative, but it is also entertaining. I have never used an airbrush and am looking to start, so this was very helpful information for me. Thank you so much!
You two are awesome and I will always enjoy your videos because of your helpful hints tips and good ideas thank you
Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased my first air brush kit and the manual wasn't very helpful. I'm a true beginner and not artistic so I'm starting with the portable set. This will help with my Halloween & Christmas projects. I had no idea what the needles were for or how to change them 🤪😱. I didn't buy the cleaning pot ....didn't get the point, now I understand. BRAVO to your wife for encouraging you to make this video & thanks again for making it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😃Now I can go play with my new toy with a little more confidence and understanding. ❤❤
You guys made this video so enjoyable to watch! Thank you this has helped a lot
thanks this helped me a lot i started air brushing today and this was very help full
Thank you for this! I have always wanted to try airbrushing. I love you guys! 😄
Hi Benny, my name's Chris & I just started airbrushing today for the first time.......I tried basic craft paint that I thinned with homemade airbrush thinner which I watched many other modelers make & I practiced on some foam core board. It's different & it takes some getting used to(like most things), I'm going to try it again for the next few days with different colors to get more comfortable. I build scale plastic model cars so I eventually will be spraying enamels & lacquers out of it, but I want to be comfortable when I attempt that. Your video was fun, helpful & informative & you have a great enthusiasm about you....which makes it easier to learn from you too, thanks much for the video......stay safe & God bless.
Thank you so much for this information. Just started out with airbrushing. Feel a bit more sure about using it with these tips! (always stuck to using brushes but after discovering new hobby (mini diorama's, miniatures and painting modells) airbrush has now has a place on my desk!
Entertaining and very informative. Thank you for making this!
Thank you Bennie for having time for this.
This was very helpful! Thank you! I just got my very 1st airbrush 😊
This is awesome dude! I’m looking to buy a whole set up for airbrushing n this video was short n super helpful
Great video! I find buying small cans of spray paint much easier than all of the set up and and upkeep involved in owning a spray gun. of course, you dont get to mix paints etc however I can usually find colors pretty close to what I need.
I just got my Switzer airbrush system and tank, can't wait ti start using it. I will be using Enamel paints on plastic model kits. Eventually moving to acrylics for other models.
Thank you guys so much for making this video! I bought an airbrush 2 years ago and just got really frustrated with it and it had been living in my closet unused for the past two years. I decided to pull it out and give it another crack and it went perfectly!
Wow
Thank you at last someone who say s what you need to know!! Straight to the point without going into the science and B S thanks mate
Cleaning for changing colors seems very cumbersome. Thanks for this great video.
The humidity device 🙀 I would have never thought!! And I'm not gonna try to discredit Germany's humidity, but I'm averaging 60-80 year round!! This video is so helpful in ways I didnt know I needed!!!
I just found your channel while searching how to paint. I'm totally hooked! your video is very educational and you guys are funny. New subscriber here! Keep it up!!
