If I counted it correctly, you'll make 5sc in a MR, then you insert the needle on the first stich, add the new yarn color on the hook and finish with a slst. From there you start the petals pattern that she listed (2ch,3dc,2ch,slst x 5).

Not the creator, but judging from how it looks, i think its 4 rows of an increasing circle then (sl st, sc, sl st) x8
^ i may be wrong, it could also be (sc, hdc, sc)
And maybe doing it 2 times with brown, one time with white would do the trick
For those in the strap, it's basically the same but the rows of the increasing circle is only 3 and the edges are only 6
I know my way of explaining is kind of confusing (im willing to elaborate), but hope this helps!

I’m coming up with 49 stitches. 22+3+22+2=49. You say it’s 48. What am I doing wrong?
Hello. every round we always make 2 chains, well that doesn't count as double crochet. it's just a pillar. So 21+3+22+2 = 48

Hi! I'm trying this tutorial now and I also have arrived with 49. Your calculation is correct. What I noticed in the pattern was if we did the 2nd set of 22 dc, the 22nd dc would be stitched on the legs of the very first dc (ch 3 from hook). So what I did was just crochet 21 dc and then 2 dc on the last stitch. That should correct the number of stitches on Row 1 (22 + 3 + 21 + 2 = 48)

in r2-13, do we just keep doing dc after the first 2ch and slst or do we keep on doing 2ch and slst every time we finish the dc ever row????
Yes, each line starts 2chain and ends slst.
