- This is the Backing Track for Lead Guitar and Vocals of "Texas Flood" by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble.
Texas Flood was originally written by Larry Davis and Joe Scott, and it was one of four covers Stevie did for his debut album named after this song.
Chris Layton (Double Trouble's drummer) recalls that Davis was brought by Albert King several times to the club where they played, the same place where Stevie was attracted to the "intriguing guitar parts".
Vaughan recorded the song pretty much as the original version with the exception of adding several twelve-bar blues sections, over which he showcased his amazing guitar chops.
Texas Flood was released on June 13, 1983, bringing new life to the blues.
The song is in Stevie's favorite tuning, Half Step Down (Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb).
I hope you enjoy it and have a blast playing along!

Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day
