- In this video I check out the small and mighty Zhiyun Crane M2 gimbal. While it works with an A6400 and a kit lens, it will struggle to support any lens heavier than that. Subscribe for more!

Sony should have invite you longgg time ago, all my sony apsc knowledge come from this channel
Kuro Wanna yup , same !! Congrats !!
Kuro Wanna yes! Agreed
This and Jason Vong have been a literal god send.
definitely!
For all people asking: the max capacity of the gimbal is 720g. The a6400 weight is 403g so the lenses need to be max 317g.
Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E-mount is 265g (will balance)
Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E-Mount 405g (will not balance)
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E-Mount DC DN 280g (will balance)
....and it's never a good idea to max a gimbal to its capacity and then expecting smooth performance.
@@larbueno I agree.
Can you suggest me a bigger gimbal for my a6400 - len 18-135 with (325gr) and external microphone rode on it?
@@AkalyptosUC I have the WEEBILL-S and it gets the job done. You have many other options and brands. Just make sure you look at the spec sheet before you buy. The WEEBILL-S has a total capacity of 6.6lbs or 3kg
@@matteosivilotti9800 I know about this GOD gimbal :). Is the result cinematic or the IBIS in cameras is important? What you think?
It's 2021 and I'm using the Crane M2 with my Sigma FP. Never though I'd be able to use a cinema camera as a vlogging lens, but this little beast has helped make that happen.
Wow, that was awesome, I hear from some CZcamsr it's hard to setting smartphone but it can stabilize it perfectly
Bought it a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier.
Great review, as always. A real pleasure chatting with you at the hanger at Kando. Keep doing what you're doing!
Looks like an interesting gimbal. Definitely a great option for travel! Btw that Sony event looked like too much fun!
Arthur , you videos are incredibly clear, maybe the best I have seen in youtube. đ
First off, HATS OFF TO YOU for just overall professionalism when it comes to a product review. Your way of speaking makes one really enjoy staying to the end.
2nd) the beginning of your shoot here you had a great blur behind you as you were holding your camera and your camera guy was holding the other camera.
- WHAT Sony lense can get me that same focus of subject and blur in the background you had please sir ?
3) lastly, your audio quality sounded great.. was it that lav mic you had? If so please let me know where I can get that.
Thanks for the video. I ordered one two days ago, will try it out, and return it if it does not work with my Sony a6600 camera. Size as a traveler is #1 for me, and this is an amazing gimbal. I also have a sony RX100iii and I know the gimbal will work on this camera
The Crane M2 is a great gimbal. I bought this gimbal and attempted for two hours to balance my Sony A6600 and various lenses on the gimbal. No go and I returned hte gimbal. The crane M2 gimbal is great for action and smaller point and shoe cameras.
2 questions, can you fit the Sony 35mm 1.8 on it. As well as the rokinon 12mm 2.0?
Would love a response as it would probably determine if i should get it man!
Montell Fish Iâm pretty sure you could. The Max weight is 720g. The A6400 weights just over 400 grams. And you can google the weight of lenses and then add them and hopefully they are less than 720G
You're always a big source of Sony apsc knowledge for me
Just got mine today, I am pairing it with A6000 kit lens and cellphone for on the go videos. Like the versatility to pair with three different kind of devices. Balancing it for the first time took a while , I guess it will get faster with more practice.
Love to see more reviews like this... outdoor shoots are great
Nice detail video. After my use with this same setup noticed the same issues. Looking for a nice pancake lens instead. Can you recomend a great compact lens for 6400?
Hii thanks for sharing this! just a quick question. Do you have to rebalance the gimbal when youâre changing focal length using that kit lens? Thanks!!
Bro can you please tell me, what is the combined weight of sony6400 & sigma 16 f1.4 lens?
Hi Arthur, thanks, another great video! Could you let us know what lens the cameraman is using towards the end of this video to film you as itâs getting dark.. lovely bokeh!!
Thanks for the video Arthur. Did you test it with the sony 18-105 or the sigma 16mm?
Hello Arthur, I watch your videos and I have learned a lot here. Did you use a picture profile for this video? Could you share your favorite settings? Thanks
What watch are you wearing in this video, also what is the camera and lens that you used on the primary camera that was on the crane 3
Hey, why did the tree footage at 5:40 completely fall apart? Was this video maybe rendered in bit too low bitrate?
youtube compression
ay it's spreeezy, i follow you on twitch
The youtube compression does not like tree leaves.
Great review. Seemed like horizon was off in a few shots, plus I seen some micro jitters. I have been considering this set up with my 6500 or 6600 when it gets in with the 10-18. I have the dual cold show re-locator from smallrig for two rode wireless goâs. Iâll be watching for the other vids with other lens
I got one of these a few weeks ago and have yet to use it. Iâm about to this week. If I were to do b roll with smaller lenses, but then wanted to kick it off and do CZcams talking head videos with a lens thatâs a little too heavy (with tripod bottom obviously) like the sigma 16mm would I be able to do so easily? Or would have have to rebalance it for that lens? Also, I planned on using the Zeiss 55, sigma 30, and the 10-18 in this. Per the weight limit it should work. What are your thoughts? Thanks!
The Feiyutech g6max is also a great small option and holds the A6400 with a sigma 16mm just fine. I would just go bigger in case you want to expand and get different setups, coming from someone who has a tiny gimbal. That way if you upgrade you wont have to spend even more money to get a bigger one
Any recommendations for one that works with the sigma lenses?
Hey Arthur. Nice video. I have the a6400 and I picked up the 16 to 55 f2.8. Do you have a gimbal recommendation for that setup?
Hi there. What kind of microphone are you using on the camera in this movie? Is it suit for other devices? Thank You for replay.
what would recommend for an A6600 with the 16-55mm g lens . just got the set up and it looks like the only way i can use it for video is with a gimbal
Try adjusting the motor speed to reduce or eliminate your shaky footage. The M2 can easily handle the A6400 with the Sony E 10-18mm F4 OSS. Here is the list of lenses that will communicate with the Sony A6400 AND with the Crane M2 via Wifi:
Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8ZA
Sonnar T* FE 35mm F2.8 ZA
E 35mm F1.8 OSS
FE 50mm 1.8
FE 50mm F2.8
FE 28mm F2
E 16m F2.8
E 20mm F2.8
E 30mm F3.5
E 10-18 F4 OSS
Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm F4 ZA OSS
How does it do with motor noise? Can you show some footage with the audio from the mic you put on the camera? Does it make a difference?
hi! do you know if it operates also in vertical mode (e.g. for vertical and stable igtv videos) ?
Great videos always!!
arthur, maybe samyang/rokinon lense such as 24 or 35mm 2.8 can be use using this gimbal setup. im wondering how it look.
No shake. Awesome
Hello bro, thanks for your review and it helps me to make right decision. Since you look like a knowledgeable guy about this gimbal, I have a question. That is, will I be able to use this gimbal for my sony a6400 with Sony Ultra wide angle liks Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS Lens ?
Seems pretty cool. I wonder though when the batteries finally do wear out if there is a way to replace them?
Can you get the zoom on the Gimbal to work with the Sony a6400? If yes how. Thanks
Hello, may I ask, which one do you think is better, zhiyun crane M2 or go pro karma grip? for go pro hero 8
I watched many of your video... And learned a lot about sony alpha series(mirrorless). I have a question....how fast is the human eye autofocus? ( is it auto focus or focus, confused)
which is the best budget gimbal for Sony a6400 which can hold my 18-105mm lens as well.
holy shake! I'd imagine those motors burning out super fast using this setup
Hey, did you change the motor strength in the app before using the 6400?
Hey man loved your video. Please if possible do a comparision video on zhiyun crane m2 & dji ronin SC vs zhiyun weble lab ( sorry if i wrote the spellings incorrectly)
With which camera did u shoot ur CZcams videos?
Hey ArthurïŒI order this M2 from China and its still on the way, Can you tell me if it works well with cellphone? Cause I'm planning to replace the freefly movi by this gimbal for moment lens. and I only see one youtuber try to use it with cellphone, but it doesnt works well
did you find the gimbal interfering with your view of the screen on the a6400 when shoouting low angles?
Considering getting this gimbal for traveling. Brandon Li put A7iii on this gimbal and it is way smoother footage he took no shake with no post stabilization.
seems like roll is not so stable. we need butter smooth from a 3axis gimbal. Any fix?
it looks nice, is this gimble can hold 18 - 105 lens stably ?
Just curious. Why we need a gimbal, when a camera ( for example Canon g7 X mark 2) itself having optical stabilization?
for a6400 + sigma 16mm f1.4 , which one is better compared to feiyu G6 gimbal ?
Hey! I'm wondering what mic you are using? It doesn't look like it's mentioned?
on what camera was the introduction was shot on. the dynamic range was incredible
can this gimbal support your canon 10-18mm efs lens together with the MC11?
Definitely noticing some bad micro jitters in places. I have this same gimbal with my very much smaller and lighter Panasonic Lumix LX100 and have never really been satisfied with it. I've always noticed jitters in my footage which is unforgivable in a gimbal, so will steer clear of any Zhiyun product in the future. Always enjoy your content and you definitely helped me choose the Sigma f1.4 lenses so many thanks for that.
I have noticed that the horizon is off most of the shots? it that a down side?
Finally about to go gimbal and laptop shopping for Christmas gift to myself... shii gets expensive real fast when it comes to camera equipment đđđđ basically have to put my ninja V on hold til next month đ
a6400 has not stableization camera this gimbal helpfull for stable with an other lens ?
As of today Iâm finding the kit lens for this is a 18-135. Is that going to be too heavy for the crane?
What is that coiled cord microphone with the wind sock that you are running?
At this Sony event, you get any inside info about the 6500 replacement?
does Face Priority go off in 4K video when A6400 is connected to the gimbal?
What microphone are you using for the Sony a6400?
Can we use and connect this gimbal with sony a6100 camera?
I think the kit lens is perfect for this setup, ad a saramonic mic and you're golden
Wich mic?
@@cloud84strife there is a saramonic small mic you'll see it on Amazon
It looks like this is the perfect mix
Awesome content, does it work well with a6600 and a zoom around 300g? Independently from the theoretic indications of the producer? Thank you Arthur :) Max
will it be okay if i use sony 30mm on my a6400 for this crane 2?
Is there a little horizontal shaking?
With which camera did u shoot ur CZcams videos? Merci
what lens u you use in a footage you holding the gimball
Is it good enough for a A7 iii + Tamron 28-75?
Hi Arthur, Which is the best Gimbal to use with Sony a6400?
Hi, you did't mantion if possible is to charge a camera by gimbal..?
Hi can I use Sony a6400 with sigma 16mm lens with this gimbal ?
Quick question with what do you connect your mic with your camera?
any update on this gimbal in 2021? is it still worth buying? is dji or zhiyun coming up with something similar in the next 3-4 months??? i really love this gimbal but the fact that its 2 year old now and that may be if i wait a little longer something new might come up.
Could you suggest an adaptor suitable for canon lenses on sony6400
did you try with the 10-18mm ?
I feel like the sony RX100 series is perfect with this gimbal. I have the RX 100 VII, so i literally bought this gimbal today. If i set the motor strength to high, even though medium is recommended for compact cameras, it will probably be smoooooth.
Nice review. Good thing it will work with my a6000. Sadly I canât fit the sigma 16mm. Great to see the vloggers who I look up to who cover apsc! đđœ
jose miguel get the feiyu tech g6 max it can just handle the weight of the sony a6600 with sigma lens!
badry got it. Thanks for tip!
Why does the zy play connection fails when connecting to wifi on the a6400
Can you please tl me In which camera and lenses did you shoot this video??
Hi there, thanks for share this video is because Sony a6400 even with the OSS lense really sucks in image stabilization !! In your 6:24 mins video clip were you walking while shooting with the handheld gimbal ?? If yes, I would say that image is really smoothly stable !!!! đ
Beautiful family, Arthur!(we share the same first name :)) I have the crane m 1 and looking at the m2 from videos and photos, my m1 is overkill for small camera. I have both sony a5100 and canon g7x m2 and i'm no pro, just like to do videos for family vacations. the m2 looks like the size of my dji osmo mobile for phones, which i enjoy using. First time i used the crane m, it was kind of a pain having to balance every time i take it out of my backpack to use it when we had our family vacation last summer. I ended using my phone with the dji osmo mobile most of the time, so will surely upgrade to the m2... I hear it will $200 at bestbuy this coming black friday!
A lot of other channels suggest you can use a small prime on the a6400 or a6500 as it is within the weight criteria
will it support the sony a6300 + sigma 16mm f1.4 lens ?
The Sony a5100 with the 10-18 lens balances just fine.
Great video, great gimbal. My Sony a6000 only shoots in AVCHD, not XAVC-S in remote mode! Am I missing something?
Will this work on an a6400 with a small cage?
hello, have you regularly used the gimbal with this camera?
Has your gimbal been damaged by the weight of the camera?
3:52 The micro USB on the gimbal is to connect to camera for charging. Not for controlling camera.
Can we charge camera from gimbal ?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I see a problem that makes remotely controlled Sony cameras pretty much useless on any gimbal.
- If one uses a cable connection (PC remote) the SteadyShot function will disappear.
- If one uses a wireless connection (smartphone remote) the eye/face AF function will disappear.
Is that correct?
*JUST ordered this And I'll be trying this on My a6400 with a Rode Wireless Go and My ZV-1.*
This gimbal can control camera over in-camera wi-fi. You have to connect gimbal and camera once via zhiyun app on your smartphone. Very useful.
Hi, can we use this with a6600 with 18-135 lens?
Nice review.can I use this gimbal for a6400 with 35mm 1.8 sony Lens.i will be very thankful for reply. Regards
brother how much price this one???
Did you try it with the Sony 35 F1.8?
