"i am not, nor have i ever been, 'adorable'," insists jon, adorably.

Helen definitely ruffled Martins hair after saying "I always knew you crazy kids would made it work" like an overly fond mother/aunt figure

Okay, so Melanie's free from the Eye, and Georgie literally cannot feel fear, so it's reasonable to assume that the Eye has little to no power over them. Maybe that's why Jon can't see them?
That was from the before times tho
@@Catglittercrafts but still applies to present tho
How does it feel to be so completely correct
Ohh okay. I completely forgot about that and was like "Did Georgie blind herself too???"

@@lel1160 seems like the kinda thing he'd do
I have a quick question guys but just for clarification since this series is Really Fucking Long: was Helen the one introduced in one of Gertrude's tapes, where she was the little girl that got a new, strange neighbor and escaped her house to go investigate and was angry that the doctor was using their evil powers on patients to steal their money instead of going full psychopath on them?
@@Dani_1012 No, that would be Mary Keay, Gerard's mother. Helen is introduced in episode 47 where she attempts to sell a house but is tricked by Michael into entering his realm. In episode 101 she takes the place of Michael and becomes the Distortion, thus becoming who she is now
@@JustinLaieatsbacon That makes sense, thank you
I love Martin's attitude. "My boyfriend is so powerful he would break an extra dimensional horror. Crap I guess I we gotta walk then. Hm. Maybe we can make friends?"

This just nails everything I love about Corruption stories. Body horror, the toxicity of human relationships, Jon's amazing writing and performance. And then we get Helen at the end. Yay Helen.
"Toxicity of human relationships..." I love it! I always thought of this one as being about the xenophobic idea of having a "pure" society, but that's a really interesting interpretation that I haven't thought about before.
@@datfisheboi6519 I mean, look at some of the Corruption stories we've had. Love Bombing, the story of the guy with his little beetle, the way the Flesh Hive preyed on Prentiss? wow, corruption, huh? those crraaazy kids, haha..

I feel like this episodes "statement" is propably the most obvious as being symbolism for society and all that jazz. its quite interesting a clever. also I just realised that the name "the corruption" also has a double meaning, it can either mean physical corruption like all the filth, disease, bugs etc but it can also be seen as corruption of the mind, corruption of power. man this entire thing is so freakin well made!!!!
It's also about toxic relationships (episode with Agape the dog), anything that's literally or metaphorically toxic, poisonous, sick/sickening applies

Before listening im seeing this comment and im scared
Before listening I was like Nope it's 111 with all the exposition! But now I can't agree more
Oh god me too!
Helen: *manifests* hey sisters ❤️✨
Mrs. Kim being targeted because her grandfather was the first of her family in the "village" hits differently now. Ouch.
Well... as an American, hearing that "they brought it from outside to get us" part of the monologue was a bit too real compared to what all the jack-wagons have been saying in the last year... o.O
This makes me think that the people who have always been beaten down by sociaety are probably coping better than others in this world of terror, because what's different really? Physics? The poor, the bullied, the discriminated, the abused, they've always lived in fear and misery, not knowing if they'll live another day. But those who have always been privileged in society... oh, they must be feeding the entities such delicious fear.
Nah, I'm pretty sure everyone feels fear. Some just pretend better.
They must still feel some fear but I do agree they must be coping much better than the ones who hadn't gone through any adversary
How doesn't this series have millions more views baffles me.

Somehow I thought witnessing something even close to cute flirting in a weirdmageddon would be jarring but these two continue to surprise me
Today on the magnus archives; Jon and Martin play pathologic
not Helen being the voice of the entire fandom
okay, two thing:
-Martin think that Jon is ADORABLE. He sees this 5'4 twink full of scars, who look like he hasn't slept in 3 weeks, and think he's adorable ❤❤❤
-DID HELEN JUST ADMITED SHE SHIPPED THEM ???
The way this touches on the core of societal corruption is pure genius. Combined with the presennt situation it becomes even more powerful...!
Literally! Like the Corruption easily has to be one of my favourite fears for its symbolism (and the way it fittingly makes my skin crawl).
i imagine one day jon starting his vent with "dear diary...."
“Sorry to love you and leave you, but I must dash.” Helen, I love you.
I really like how the "statments" now are not just about someone's experience or encounter with a fear, but a collective representation of that fear through the eyes of many. It's not just about one person. It's from the 3rd person and about many differnt people.
Has a sense of finality to it honestly.
And these statements have been my favorite so far. Showing the true form of the fears. Discribed in agonizing detail. I love it!
Every one of these that i listen to I draw it in my sketchbook. It's pretty fun XD

John and Martin‘s tour guide to the apocalypse, taking real statements from viewers like you
I thought Elias being Jonah was a big twist, but now you’re telling me that the K in Martin K Blackwood doesn’t stand for anything?!?!
Well then, this one was.... Very *real*. Of course the fear of the other is ever present in human history, but that combined with the body horror was truly terrifying. Especially where I live, the consensus of idiots is that it's all "the chinese's fault", and I have seen alot of abuse hurled at people at absolutely do not deserve it. It's not fair. It's not right. It's never right. I hope that one day those who are misinformed by decades of tradition and bias and hatred of that ever present "other" see the error of their ways. I hope they feel guilty. I don't think they will though.
I love the deep denial, because *everyone* is infected, but they're all happy to punish the others for it while hiding their own shame.
It’s spooky how this parallels what’s going on irl
I love how much more direct the new season is
Hellen is just us here, all being like awwe such an adorable couple, because they are!!!! I am on cloud nine
I love that Helen's best way of getting under Jon's skin is just by saying she's happy he got together with Martin. Jon is totally the kind of boyfriend who blushes and gets embarrassed any time you comment positively on their relationship.
Also, Melanie and Georgie are almost certainly with The Dark if they can't be seen. That's definitely the power I'm most afraid of so I'm not looking forward to those episodes.
Honestly, hearing Helen call Jon and Martin an adorable couple and just generally shipping them… knowing that they’re together now makes me so happy it almost entirely makes up for the world having gone to shit… almost.
Luckily, the tape cut out just before Jon could list every other person still currently alive
I was having my breakfast while listening to this. Loved the episode but i always manage to be eating during the really gross ones

Nah that's fine, it doesn't translate 1:1.
To compare immigrants to sick people would be pretty fucked up, the thing about racism is that it is unbased on actual facts - racism is about un-fairness, but if people were actually sick and spread a dangerous corruption disease - then it's really a good idea to not let them in.
The production in this one is amazing. The sound of flies in the background is a great touch!!
Martin, Jon and Helen's dynamic is really fun. And of course Jon can't go through the Corridors, him and all his Knowing you be an awful headache and give Helen indigestion!
the atrocious bad luck of jonny writing this episode then the pandemic starting right as it was due to be released...
