    I jumped for joy when I saw this was 35 minutes long :D Really loving these in depth looks, and the tips and tricks.
    I've been rocking the original O11D in white for a while now and I'd never reallised what an absolute pain in the arse it is to match white with white :o It's like every manufacturer has their own idea of what white should be.
    Thankfully, I'd already decided on a black and white theme, but even that's turned into black-and-white-and-kinda-white-and-grey.

  • @loshan1212
    @loshan1212 Před 3 lety +1

    My build, heavily inspired by this one, is almost done! Just waiting for the tubing and one or two things to arrive...
    Tried to minimise the amount of painting by finding factory white components, like the white Corsair XR5 360 radiator. For the fan stickers, I found this guy on eBay who sells brushed aluminium effect Corsair fan logos. Using a mATX board, so no need to create a custom plate. I spent so many hours trying to do the white o-rings for the distro plate. I'm almost certain it's impossible, even perfectly glued together using Loctite 406, there's extremely tiny gaps where water leaks out. The worst part is once you notice this leak, you have to take off 40+ screws. Putting out a bounty for white o-rings that don't leak, $50 for anyone who's able to do it! I found trying to replicate the exact blue (extremely saturated) to be really, really hard. Instead of the EK Cloud White premix, I bought the 1L one and added half a bottle of EK's blue dye and it's still not as bright! I'm worried adding more blue will make the water dark.
    First time spray painting, luckily I have a respirator! For whatever reason the white spray paint I'm using (Rustoleum Matt White) takes forever to dry. It's still a bit sticky to the touch after a day. This is with what seems like a decent self etching primer. Found out that putting it into the oven at something like 100C for 4-5 mins seems to help a ton. What probably doesn't help a ton is that I'm in the UK with crappy weather.

    • @Srv02
      @Srv02 Před 2 lety

      Hey Loshan, did you already succeed in doing the white o-rings? Maybe you didn't tighten them with exactly the same torque? Did you also replace the screws?

    • @joeelliott8196
      @joeelliott8196 Před rokem +1

      one year later...I managed to get the white o-rings on the distro to work but like you said it was a pain. A few lessons I learnt:
      - Use a craft knife or similar to cut the silicone rather than scissors so that each end of the cord is as flat as possible
      - I used super glue to bond the ends, holding for 2 minutes while it bonded, like in the video
      - Make sure the o ring is a mm or 2 over sized so the join in the cord is compressed slightly rather than under tension
      - Apply a small thread of loctite 595 at the bottom of trench where the o-ring sits the whole way around. You can't see this once it's compressed and dried. Apply this just before adding the o ring and putting cover back on (i.e. wet when you screw back together). I found i needed to do this to get the o rings to stay in place otherwise they would pop out before I got the cover plate back on. I used this 2mm cord from Polymax - www.polymax.co.uk/rubber-cords/white-silicone-cord-2-0mm-diameter
      - Also add loctite 595 all the way around the bond where the superglue is (i.e. around the circumference of the cord/bond), this will seal any small holes in the joint once compressed. Again do this just before you screw back together
      I did this on the distro block, gpu and cpu cover and no leaks. Left 24hrs to leak test and no drop in pressure. Has been running for a week with coolant with no issues so far, will update if this changes.

    This is one of the best builds I've seen up to date! Some aspects of this have been used as inspiration on the build I'm currently working on.
    There is just one thing I cannot understand, what are the bottom and top extenders that are used used below the angled fittings? Looks like the top has the EK-Quantum Torque 14mm extenders and the bottom could be the 7mm ones but how have they been lifted up to different heights? I assume the extenders used on the GPU block are just the 7mm ones but for the rads?

    • @Srv02

    • @deevirus

      @@Srv02 Hey, I did yeah. I'm using the 14mm extenders (using EK Torgue lineup for all fittings and EK radiators with Lian Li AL unifans). This way the tube will perfectly clear the fans. :)

    I tried to sand the PETG tube with a fine grit but my tubes revealed some tiny roller trenches along the tube, about 30microns deep, every 2-3 mm. These trenches refused to go away. So bear in mind that XSPC tubes must be either sanded harder, with some 180 grit (maybe?) or left clear.
