MissFitAndNerdy experiments on her body, episode 1: Intermittent fasting! In an effort to get lean and thin more quickly in preparation for an event, I threw in intermittent fasting to see if it would help. I was not doing this for weight/fat loss, hence why I did not mention any weight fluctuation in the video. I just wanted to see what intermittent fasting would do to my body and if it would make it easier for me to maintain my physique.
If you have ever wondered the following, this video is for you:
How does intermittent fasting work?
What are the benefits of intermittent fasting?
How do you start intermittent fasting?

I started two days ago and during the fasting period I licked a tater tot.
fran g 😂
lolol i am so weak!
Omg I laughed instantly hahaha best comment
🤣🤣 The tater tot comment took me OUT!!
oh my hell!! That's hilarious!
Wow I've been intermittent fasting my entire adult life 😅 just called it "I overslept and didn't eat breakfast "
LaTerrani Strother YES me too! And then I call the rest of the day "I'm super hungry because I didn't eat breakfast so I'm gonna binge" lol
word.
Ikr lol
Haha yes!
Same
I've lost 50 lbs over the past 12 months using the same type of intermittent fasting that you're following. I have 20 more lbs to go but will likely stay on this type of schedule for life. It's really the only thing that's worked for me. I basically don't eat anything after 4 or 5 p.m. each day.
Wow congratulations!
Larry Gentry can you share what you eat and portion size?
Wow! That's really encouraging:)
I watch sugar and don't eat starchy carbs without protein. I go to a movie once a week or so and have a root beer.
Larry Gentry what were your portions like and what kind of food did you eat?
Currently on week 9 of intermittent fasting (only eat 12pm to 8pm) with calorie derivation and working out 4-5 times weekly. Also have one light cheat meal weekly.
Went from 224.0 lbs to 183.4 lbs for 40.6lbs weight loss, gained endurance and strength.
Only tough times are sometimes in late morning or evenings around 10:30 pm when inactive, when active no problems.
When you start getting compliments it really makes it easier.
I recommend.
Mark Frock what do you eat during your 12-8 period, 3 meals? 2 meals? Whatever you want?
2 meals, look up the "Egg diet" I eat 2 of those meals. Wed dinner is my cheat meal of the week. (Still don't go crazy)
I lost 47 lbs before I stopped my diet. I fell great and get lots of compliments. Now I eat healthy just trying to maintain.
Warning you will get really hungry about 10am and 10 pm. drink lots of water, it helps. Good luck
Mark Frock arent u able to drink water throughout day even during fasting.....u just cant eat during ur fasting?!?! Thats what Dr. BERG on youtube said....is this accurate?
Yes, drink water all day. I was saying during fasting period when you get hungry drink lots of water it fills up your belly, Carbonated water is good too as it fools the stomach into to thinking it's full.
Mark Frock hello, I'm 200lbs and want to lose weight so thinking of trying this. Can you let me know what kinda workouts you done to achieve this loss?
I love seeing other people struggling sticking to something just like me. I also love shoveling food in my face 😂 I noticed my tummy was flatter just a couple days after fasting, and that was enough for me to stick to it 🙃
Yeah, it was a little more difficult than I expected but I definitely want to get back into it! :)
MissFitAndNerdy thats why islam enter the concept of fasting to clean u from deep inside and see now people following because of other reason ... i m also struggler but ramadan satisfies my goal and keep me maintain for year
Baylee S. nmm
theres still a slight difference from Muslim Ramadan fasting and IF.. during IF , you can drink water. water is important to clean your body. and its a lifestyle. a long term eating habit. whereas muslim fast has something to do with spiritual cleansing. n most of the time, doesnt lose weight or gain right back up after Ramadan. but the cleansing part of the body system, yes.
Lim Hong Yi in ramadan u can also.control ur eating habit weight is not tools or any emergency treatment its lifestyle and to adopt that first u have to give up from bad habit and i think start first month very difficult to.adopt is its best time to kick start after ramadan
You need to drink your water during your fasting period too, and not during the 8 hours only.
G C she does
No it's ok
her: *lists scientific pros about intermittent fasting*
me: but does it make you skinny
Grace Nelson saammme
Grace Nelson Judging by what I’ve read and heard, yes. Your body is forced to use stored fat for energy while at the same time preserving (and building) muscle.
Lol fr so me!
Matthew Brunette
You'll not build muscle. Not because you can't, but because you'll feel tired and more tired after time
It works for me because I already have a lot of muscle. So it helps burn the extra fat without losing muscle. The trick is to eat the right foods during your eating window.
Intermittent fasting is my last hope.
If this doesn't work,
I'll just continue to be a fat potato for the rest of my life.
Awwww Taehyungieeeee💜😍❤️
Minnie. Did you try it?
Minnie G amen amen!!!! I am with you!!!
Hi army
Just like me, Intermittent fasting is my only hope right now. The only problem I have is, being disciplined. I love food too much. God help me please!!!!
im a muslim. and in ramadan we have to fast from sunrise to sunset for a month. we believe its a healthy way to change and confuse our bodies digestive system since we eat all year long. its good to give our stomach that break.

Fasting in Jesus Name. Without Him you only have a god. 🕊
you are so wrong with that he is not god Allah is the one true God, and there is no comparison to Him. He is the creator of this universe ,you , me and anything that exists. and Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the last Messenger of Allah. Islam is a beautiful religion which is mistaken everyday the closer we go to the judgment day . Islam has always been a religion of peace and it is the answer to all our problems . may Allah guide us all to follow His path

I've done intermittent fasting since early Jan this year and went from 220lbs to 141lbs (obese bmi to healthy bmi so 79lbs lost in 5 months). I suffer from BED and I have an "all or nothing" mentality so IF was a comfortable middle ground because eating too early in the day for me would lead to binges. I would have all of my meals from 4pm and stop at around 7pm. Obviously this might be extreme for some people, but it has been the *only* thing that has ever worked for me getting the weight off finally.
Even when I reach my goal weight I'll still be sticking to IF because of the health benefits involved. I don't see it as a "diet" or anything, but more of a long term lifestyle.
Also, subbed!
Jazz that's amazing! I've decided to start doing it this summer bc I don't wake up until lunch time anyways so I won't be tempted, the only thing I'll have to really worry about is late night snacking😬 but I'm going to really try!!
what did you do when you had binge urges during your fasting period?
I also suffer from BED, your comment made me consider trying IF! I haven't been able to find anything that could help me in the past unfortunately, maybe this will? Congrats for your amazing progress!
How many calories are you eating?
i'm so happy for you!! :)
"i'm gonna make it work! 💪 "
next clip
"so tonight didnt go quite as planned..."
haha i loved this part xD you are so funny ❤ totally subbing 😄
story of my life tbh
MissFitAndNerdy glad you were honest though:)
QUIRKY ,, firm and fit ...
wow 19 pound in 3 weeks and 29 pound in 5 weeks...
Fasting works! I cant believe it has critics....
I've been doing intermittent fasting and it does work, almost too well. Earlier this year I went from 245 lbs down to 215 just before the summer doing 4 months of IF, and that was doing the 16/8. Now, i'm experimenting with the one meal a day style of IF, and so far it's been rough but I've been able to power through. The only exception I make for myself is when I have a full workday (I work in produce, so there's lots of heavy lifting and movement I have to make.) in which I will eat 2 meals, but on short days and days off of work, I eat only once a day then. It's been a real challenge but i'm already seeing results.
Phil Mante congratulations
I've been struggling with intermittent fasting all week! I'm getting the hang out it though. It's made me more aware of when I'm just eating for the sake of eating as well. Great video!
You look so pretty!!
Camille Bill I've found it's harder for girls for some reason. They get like sick without eating. Not all but a lot of women have harder times fasting. Just do something in the day like if you have school or work in the morning just don't eat breakfast it's ez.
ASMR SHHH In times like these Id like to thank you for you words even tho theyre not directed at me...
Stick with it! They say that after about two weeks your body will "get used" to it and hopefully wont make you feel as hungry.
Matthew Niedbala it is,., usually I don't eat breakfast. But if I have only meal the day before, then on this day I would be forced to eat breakfast otherwise I'd feel super nauseous.
Its been a week since I started IF - and not only is it showing results on my body; which is great - but I didn't expect this other thing - I am actually happier. I haven't felt so consistently happy for a long time. I always craved - craved for food, drink, coffee, what have you.... something or the other; and my mood was not the best..... it suffered, all the time and not just for the craving. Now that I am IF-ing, eating raw vegan and high protein food, no coffee (yes I stopped completely), no tea either, no alcohol, ..... working out a little (need to up that) - I am happier. I feel up and that feeling stays, isnt illusive like before (now its here, now its gone - no more). I am a happier person and fasting, eating right, getting rid of carvings did this!! HA
Ab Swkr I’m IF-ing too. Question. Do you avoid or minimize any kind of food like sugar or carbs?
What happened?
What’s That Did you ask me?
I applaud you! Apart from one little thing, thea is actually very good for you if you minus the sweetenings :) gl on your journey!
You lost me at no alcohol....
If any of you are worried that fasting is unhealthy, its perfectly fine. Fasting helps cleaning out the body. Fasting not only gives you a body you want, but its very healthy and u have nothing to worry about. You should try it! 🖤🙂
Bubbles I have really thought about it. Any tips for beginners?
Isabella that's only if your body goes for a long period of time without food. Fasting doesn't deprive your body of food for long enough for it to want to build fat stores
Savannah Manhattan you have no idea what you’re talking about just stop
First of cultures around the world have various fasting routines. Secondy, things like toxins are not made up hippie words. Your liver and kidneys are made to filter and covert toxins, scientific fact. Fasting gives them time to do some spring cleaning. Third, her intermittent fasting is only like 16 hours a day which leaves 8 hours to eat. Fasting isn't bad when done right and not confused with anorexia.
Well, there are different ways to look at it. If you want immediate results and your digestion isn't great it gives everything a break and can eliminate bloat which makes you look 5 to 10 pounds more than you are. Yes you are correct in your statement. It all depends on time tables. When I cut weight in high school I ate very little for 3 days and would lose five pounds, then I ate normal for 4 days. I did this 3 to 4 times or weeks in a row. The trick was I slowed down after 3 days so I ate to get my metabolism back up for 4 days and repeated the cycle.
for a second I thought that this was a buzzfeed video
hailey rae but it was better and im a fan of buzz
I want to do this so bad but I'm stuck because I am worried about either under eating or over eating my calories and getting the correct ratio of macronutrients. I'm scared of eating the wrong foods. I don't know which are the right foods to eat while doing this.
I fast every year as a Muslim and from what I've read, if you exercise during the day or before breaking your fast, you should eat high carb foods (to keep your muscles replenished) and exercise right before breaking your fast is best so your body can maximize nutrients from the food. Other than that try to get in good amounts of protein from lean meats and nuts, still get some carbs even if you don't exercise, get some healthy fats and fiber. Basically try to keep your diet clean of junk food and too much sugar for the most part as well as avoid over processed foods and there shouldn't be a problem (even if you cheat and have some no-no foods)
Sana Shakir Thank you
Dark Sparkle meee too 😭
Do your best to avoid
breads(wraps are best alternative)
pasta
Anything Fried
Dairy (almond milk is a good sub for milk, if you cant svoid cheese, eat the low fat or provolone cheese),
Sugars, (this includes diet cokes)(sugar limit to no more than 4 grams per serving)
Eat:
Fish
Chicken (white meat only)
G-BOMBS
Greens, Veggies Veggies Veggies, Broccoli will be your best friend, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms to keep you Potassium up, Berries, and Seed and Nuts.
Brown Rice if you want to eat a little rice or Quinoa, but do not over do it.
Water, Water Water.
Green Tea, no sugar. this will surpress hunger
Black Coffee, no sugar.
when you break your first fasting days, you may experience diarrhea, this is normal, this will cause your body to lose electrolytes. to make up lost electrolytes, eat foods high in potassium(banana, mushrooms and magnesium. If you feel cloudy, lightheaded, fatigued the electrolytes will help kick you out of that, I would suggest Kombucha Tea as a good source of electrolytes.
Always consult with your Doctor before starting.
Your body will adjust to these changes. Overall be patient, this will take some time
'Variety is the spice of life' so enjoy various food groups especially fruits and vegetables. The key is just not to have anything in excess; take the recommended amount of essential vitamins and minerals either with your meals and/or be sure to choose foods rich in them.
As for intermittent fasting, your appetite may diminish a little but this is due to your body not being overworked with food throughout the day. It's good for the body to recover so you have nothing to worry about.
I’ve been fasting for 3 days and I fast for 17 hours a day and I find it really hard to eat now, I don’t feel hungry and I feel more energized. So focusing now on eating almonds, peanut butter, and other high calorie healthy foods to help fill my calories.
Mercedez R same man and i feel more powerful and on point. Just like you i eat high calorie foods.
What if you don't intake so many calories
Like is there a set calorie intake or suggested or what and why?
Aryana Teague well, I just use a calorie calculator to calculate my calories. Ummm it’s best to eat that because fasting and not eating enough can be very hard on your body from my experience. My body began holding onto my fat and not burning it because I wasn’t eating enough. But so far I’ve lost 30 pounds soooo fast away! :)
Mercedez_ Gets_fit thanks!
Video starts at 5:07 .. thank me later 😊
tina mary This video never starts.
Thank you! Sheesh...But like the reply above me this video NEVER starts lol. Its like one big ramble. It's akin to asking my 12 yr old what he did in school today... At some point you just check out and nod your head till they stop talking... What a waste of 16 mins
Thanks alot 🤣
Thanks! Will skip this vid.
tina mary the video starts at 0:00, actually.
When you've been doing this accidentally because you wake up at noon
Right lmfao!!!!
"I'm starting tomorrow^^"

If you don't see the muscle it isn't big or the skin on it is too thick. So make the muscle big and the skin thin
Me too. Tomorrow is the most common day for diets to start afterall
I did it for 3 weeks along with going to the gym and I lost around 15 pounds within that time frame.
I really hope you don't find this rude or anything, but what was your starting weight before you started itermittent fasting
I do that every year for a month (fasting from sunrise to sunset) = Ramadan
Maryam Alremeithi we all know . there's 300 other comments saying the same thing.
Do you lose weight during that month?
Maryam Alremeithi So you don't eat anything? If I don't eat anything in a day, I get headaches and I feel powerless and tired.
WHAT IF, It was like that for me when I started fasting for Ramadan but you get to know your body and know what to do/eat to get the most out of it :) Personally, it encouraged me to stop my sugar and caffeine addictions so that I wouldn't be uncomfortable during fasting. I imagine the same applies to fasting for other reasons. We eat between sundown and sun up so a lot of us plan high carb, high energy-making meals and drink a day's worth of water during this period. In my experience, your appetite curbs to the pattern you create for yourself.
Personally I don't lose so much weight (1 kilo down would be great) just because I'm that kind of person who losses weight by eating multiple times through the day.
As for the rest of the family and friends, MOST of them losses weight during that month.
*I have lost 2 kilos by being lazy to go to the kitchen.*
**I'm not joking btw**
Meee
Same but 15 kg
Lol that's me becuz my depression is to exhausted for me to get up so a lot of time I'm not eating.
That WONT last
i did 20/4 and lost 30 pounds in 2 months.
Gaming Since Gaming what did you eat in that time to keep you full?
Gaming Since Gaming in 2months straight? Like 20/4 7 days a week?
What was your starting weight?
Holy cow, that's just fabulous. I've been on a diet for a while and I've lost 55 lb and I have 40 more to go. I know the last amounts of weight when you get down to what you want take a while so maybe I'll change my fasting hours from 16 to 20. Thanks so much and good luck.
What is 20/4?
I want to start but my parents don't approve of this kind of stuff. 😂
Hannah Xu i feel u
Same here lol
Basically just let them watch Dr. Berg videos about it. It is not a fad diet nor a diet at all!
this is about healthily restricting your eating period in order to maximize metabolism i believe. CHECK medical websites and experts. it's not a fad.
At the beginning my mother was scared for me and doesn't want me to do it..at the end she is doing it and my father too😂😂
I have been doing it for almost a month. It's become a lifestyle, really. Avoid carbs, drink water+ apple cider vinegar
You resemble Demi Moore. 😍I'm trying it this week (again). My window is 1pm to 9 pm. Drinking plenty of water until my first meal. My gym time is usually 5:30 til 7:00p.m. We shall see how it goes. Good luck!
NATAKI BOUNDS yes she does! gorgeous 😘
NATAKI BOUNDS prettier then Demi Moore.
NATAKI BOUNDS I was going to say that too! A young Demi Moore!
i thought she resembles a girl version of Skrillex
Alexis Ortega ewwwww
i intermittent fast!! i’ve definitely noticed a difference. it has really helped me physically and emotionally, as well as mentally. it teaches you a lot of self-discipline and helps you become more self-aware
Adding omega 3 foods and fruits can also help with the fast. Also tea, coffee, lemon, hot sauce can increase your metabolism.
i have never seen a girl so adorable and talkative and relatable, you are sooo cute!
hahaha thank you! :)
The video starts 5:04 you welcome
THANK YOU
You the real MVP
thx lol
Appreciate you! 😘
Thank you
I search these up so I can wear a crop top

May Lee really? she was jabbering the whole 3 minutes of the video.
MaryNAdam yeah maybe three minutes but the other 13 minutes she was clear and simple compared to other youtubers who won't shut up
Quick?
Thought this was a Buzz Feed video for a second.
Louie Wilkinson same ahaha
Yes, that’s why I avoided watching the first time that it was in recommended. 😂
oh my god sameeee
Then she listed real facts...
Interesting what you said about it being a stresser on the body! I wonder if anyone else finds that but I find that when I fast during otherwise stressful times it actually helps me so much to stay focused, centered and overall calmer! Almost like my body has one less thing to deal with so it’s happier :)
As a muslim i have to fast from sunrise till sun dawn , every year for a whole month 🙌🏻💯
Reem Hajali wow! So you can only eat a meal at night after the sun sets? Haha Idk if I could do that! Power to you!!
Reem Hajali lucky
Reem Hajali Ramadan it's the best month.. Ramadan Mubarak! 🙂
I love Ramadan
amal aya me to Ramadan Kareem
Ive skipped breakfast/lunch and only eaten dinner for about 25yrs now. It was never a diet choice, just lack of food growing up and it became my "normal". I eat dinner and occasionally snack a few hours after. I find it funny this is a new "diet" yet im constantly being berated by coworkers to EAT - and everyone thinks im bizarre to only eat once a day. SMH
Shan Kristofferson are you slim? I would love to be able to eat only 1 meal a day.
Shan Kristofferson I used to only eat dinner too! Due to money issues. I'm still struggling financially, but somehow I find food to eat during the day and I consume a lot of calories at night. I guess now that I know this is a diet trend, I'll get back on it 😂 went from 275 to 190 with IBS and one meal a day in less than a year if anyone is interested.
Shan Kristofferson I do this most of the time at school
the point of intermittent fasting is to eat all your meals in an 8 hour period, not just one meal
Hanny D we weren't really talking about intermittent fasting
16/8 is mild if going any longer don't drink straight water add potassium and sodium to keep minerals and electrolytes up.
Did you weigh yourself before and after?
'i don't wanna be studying, i wanna be eating because the food is good' the most relatable sentence
Hi! You are inspiration and I love your delivery and style!
I am 47 years young and have been doing intermittent fasting on and off for 4 years and have lost 50 pounds and kept it off
. I know 20:4 works for me best and I do restrict refined carbs a lot. I love this way of eating and I basically keep it very quiet. I don't tell anyone that I'm doing it! This saves me from hassle from people who don't comprehend and think it's an eating disorder and think you need to eat 6 meals a day blah, blah blah...
man i've been in on intermittent for last 5 days, and i work from 10 till 4 (on my feet), i am so much more focused now, like wake up and thats it, on to Task#1 of the day, so i eat at 10 or 11pm and then 5-6pm next day, and no I dont feel hungry or low energy at all, this is awsome plus it saves money on breakfast :P
Thanks for the cool video
Umar Rauf ...thats why we are blessed to fast in Ramadan bro alhu
Doesn't eating late make you gain weight, or so I always thought
HotMess Mum The answer is no only as long as you dont eat sugar foods and cereals ,starch and grains. The idea is to eat fresh veges , small amount of protein and animal fats and olive oil.
Umar Rauf no n no
Umar Rauf ur basically fasting like a Muslim lol
you seem a little hard on yourself. like you said. it's more about the fasting time than the eating window. if you ate for longer, just eat later the next day and stop earlier. no need to be perfect
John Dwyer his comment is 6 months old lmao and also it Sounds like you’re trying to sound like a author 😬
People . You dont have to go by the book right from the start . Pushing yourself into a diet Might also let you come out of it once you see some results. Trying to slowly increase the fasting period and eventually get to the desired number. Also make it part of your routine and eating at consistent time will help .
I want to try intermittent fasting but I feel like if I start with the 16-8 version, I'll just fail so I think I'm going to ease myself into it like start with 12-12 for a couple days and then move onto 14-10 and then finally 16-8. Hope it works! :)
I cheated on the weekend and then went back to eating healthy on Monday and i still lost 3 pounds in the1st week i love this intermittent fasting a new and better way of eating for me. I eat less save more money i am not bloated anymore and my body is getting used to it i literally can't eat big portions anymore and if i do my stomach hurts.
The same to me .I eat more in weekand (is true my stomach hurts)
When I flex I only have abs on top and the bottom of my stomach has no abs idk how to fix that but please tell me😂 because I actually work so hard and there's just no abs on the bottom
I am anonymous run with your knees up to your stomach (in place is OK as well). You can do it in your room at random times couple times a day, I promise you'll see results within ten days unless you have like real big chunk of fat on your lower abdomen
Honestly it could be genetics like some people literally only can show 4 abs, some people can have a 6 pack and some people have an 8 pack. If you don't have those abs it may be genetics
When you get to low levels of body fat you'll be able to see your six pack. We usually store more fat on the lower part of the stomach which is why it's harder to make the abs there more visible. You can work lower abs with exercises like leg raises or mountain climbers, but the key thing is go hardcore on diet and cardio (preferably HIIT so you don't lose a lot of muscle).
SeGa DubZz my mum used to have abs by walking everywhere and doing 100 sit ups every night and I tried that but I don't see results :(
I am anonymous bro I had the same thing. I started intermittent fasting and running sprints. I play basketball so I get cardio just about everyday. If you eat right and keep working out, you’ll see results fast.
can you still do this even if you have belly fat and not at your fit level you want to be?
Yes! Anyone can try intermittent fasting! Though its not for everyone because it can mess up your hormones so if it makes your body respond weird, then it would be best to not do it
thanks I want to try it to see if it works I have never done it before 😊
Cool how can you do that
Latonij Frazier Did it work?
Golden Rapokemon I feel a bit lighter haven't gotten on a scale yet
IF really works! I tried it many times whenever I've put on some extra pound and the results were amazing. What is more, I learned how to enjoy food and fight my afternoon sugar cravings. I love your video, you're just this kind of person who transmits really positive vibes.
Also, enjoyed the video! I’ve been doing intermittent fasting most of my adult life, without even thinking about it. I have never been able to get hungry for breakfast. Those times where I break the intermediate pattern for more than 4-5 days straight, I swell up preeeeetty fast, I get cranky, sometimes straight up depressed, I loose energy, my joints hurt, etc etc. Our bodies are still wired after the hunter gatherer-pattern. We are not supposed to keep our system in constant action by providing fuel for it around the clock... our bodies are wired to work for the food, enjoy it, only to start over again. If the food industry wasn’t making billions by keeping people in a consumer pattern which is completely harmful and WRONG, I firmly believe that periodic fasting would be common knowledge, taught from kindergarten to the old folks home...
This video is so relatable.
True
It basically comes down to two things: you have to go into calorie deficit diet, you have to excercise, cardio, sweat.
Intermittent fasting spikes your growth hormone but at the same time I've seen people that do this that look like "small people" including men. If sporting a flat stomach is your goal, keep it moderate.
If you’re like me and your day doesn’t start till after you eat something. I normally start my fast at 7pm the day before and eat at 11am the next day. Witch is a 17 hour fast.
Alcohol hits me hard now that i'm fasting, found that out on new years
Yeah man. Going out is WAY cheaper!
thanks for the warning... I make my own wine and mead; anywhere from 15% to 20%; will be careful walking LOL
yep, drank a beer after not eating for 7 hours and my head was spinning like crazy
Try booze after being on the keto diet lol
Yea I get as tipsy as I used to with a 6 pack as I used to with a 12. My wallet sure has been a lot happier with me doing OMAD.
this honestly helped me a lot and taught me some stuff about IF! also, your body is gorgeous. am i rite ladiesssss
Amanda Nicole Bonfiglio yes I wish I had her weight problems lol
As a Muslim, I've been doing this all my life! Once or twice a week, and obviously for the whole month of Ramadhan ( a month in the Islamic lunar calendar). Never stopped to think about how it benefits my body. Thanks to you, I do now. Great video!
I did IF for a month and I lose 7kg, I'm uni student btw and I survived hahahahaha It's not that hard trust me
Oh that's cool, this is 2 years late but did u do any workouts?
@@laylaturk6345 no, i didn’t do any workout because at that time when i was student, im walking going to class, going to faculty and going to college and also my dorm is at level two, so i have to use the stairs. But the distance is not far enough so i guess not more that 8k steps per day, but just recently i did low deficit calorie which is 1000kcal perday and workout at home since covid, and i lose 8kg in 6 weeks
@@shirayuki9881 wow that's a lot of progress congrats and ty
If you are sitting on the fence. Try fasting between meals. No snacking can make a big difference. I am a night snacker.
Then fasting before bedtime helps a lot too. Nothing past 6 or 7pm?
This could be a trial run to see how it goes.
Cutest ....Nerd....EVERRRRRRRR
I subscribed 10 seconds into the video lol, you're adorable!

true, I did as well!! :) - MondoNMind
Same!
Do It Like Doli me too. She is adorable. Great energy. Keep doing videos
This last quarter of school I had work and classes and socialing that took a great majority of my time so, unintentionally i ate only once a day for 3ish months. Only pro of it is my appetite became very small and i ate shit food but didnt go a pound up or down from what i started at. Now that it's summer though it's gone downhill
I have done this via a 5 2 diet. 2 days of low calories and 5 days of eating (reasonably). I did it pretty intensely to start for 9 months and lost 45 pounds. I have continued doing it for the past 2 years to maintain. Upping the calories on the 2 light days. It works for me. I go up and down about 3 pounds a week and am able to keep where I want to be. I've had a few vacations where I gained more than I wanted but was able to reign in the calories again and bring it back down. It's really working well for me and I don't plan on changing.
I do it 20 hours fasting 4 hours eating it does work 👍🏽
Confused Panda I eat very healthy lots of protein veggies not sure what the diet is you mentioned but I intermittent fast 6 days 7 th day I eat whatever but on the 7 th day I don't eat after 5 pm
Rebecca Rubenalt how much weight did you lose?
flower power yes when I first started I lost 20+ pounds & have never gained back the weight
Rebecca Rubenalt ok during the eat window how much calories do you eat ? And thanks for answring
flower power Try to get a day's worth of calories in there. I'm usually 23 off, 1 hour on. In the hour I'm eating, I try to get 1800 calories in. It can be tough to eat that many calories in an hour so sometimes my eating window is wider
God loves you all so much, Jesus died for you, Holy Spirit cares for you and wants you
I love intermittent fasting. It became a lifestyle to do at least 14 hours every day. I do 1 24hour water fast a month for mental results. I love it! :D nice video!
Hey I thought we were allowed to drink water while we are fasting. I'm confused when you said you where trying to get all your water intake.
sorry that was confusing! You're definitely allowed to drink water while fasting. I was trying to say that I was starting to drink all of my water during my fasting period and limiting my water during my eating window because when I drink in my eating window it is difficult for me to eat as much as I need to because it makes me full

It's a great way to stop evolving around food! Thank you for sharing!
I kind of accidentally fell into intermittent fasting... and experienced the benefits you mentioned in this vid's 15 min mark. I experienced the increased mental and physical clarity and just general increased energy levels... and also the contrasting decreased energy and suppressed mental clarity once I did eat a full meal. I am with you and agree 10/10 that intermittent fasting is a beautiful thing. Thanks for sharing your experience. Les do!
Do you think that you are more productive because your body is trying to work so it can eat. Kind of like if you have to pee you’re more focused because your body is trying to get whatever is stalling you out of the way so it can be relieved. Just a theory.
blake robb I think it's more due to the increased norepinephrine production when fasting, and also less blood going to the stomach

Fasting actually really helps you heal when you’re sick. Whenever I’m about to get a cold, I just fast and break my fast with lemon ginger water. Usually stops the cold right in its tracks!
At the end of the school year I tried this and lost 15 pounds
Bugzpudding how long did you do it for?? that's amazing!
sherpac1 2-3 weeks.
Bugzpudding how long did it take you to lose the pounds because I'm trying to lose 30 pounds
Bugzpudding did you stop fasting? If you did is your body still the same or it gained weight??
If you fast..will your belly fat will be gone?? (Sorry for my english hope you guys understand?)
I do this every day for the passed 4 years. Because i ate one's a day whithout little meals or snacks in between. My body is so used to that it do nothing for me anymore but this is my lifestyle and i am happy with it + I drink 15 glasses of water a day. IF you want to know my schedule just comment please note I am still a child with just a healthy life still. 😘And i am willing to help other😂😘
I'm currently trying IF , I'm only on day one but its going well ! I started eating at 2pm and finished around 8pm. I feel more alert , a few headaches here and there but there's nothing a lot of water can't fix! This videos really been helpful, I hope to keep updating! (:
I'm gonna do this I am
Mom- sweety I bought donuts
me - I'll start tomorrow
The next day
Me - I feel good about this I'm gonna do it
Mom- hey u want to go to an all you can eat buffet
All I've been doing the whole entire summer vaca
Fuck my life
It definitely works! It's easiest to do if you include the time spent sleeping into the hours. Have an early dinner and then a late breakfast. I also feel less bloated.
That was cute "i cheated" last two days .. haha, you got my like
IF is more of a first step. Warrior fasting and longer fasts are way more beneficial, the purpose is to build metabolic flexibility. But most people don't even have metabolic stability so they get wrecked.
Do the thing correctly.
Great video! Subbbbbed
GODF1R3 longer fasts are only good to lose water & food weight, it's a lot harder to lose actual fat with long fasts
GODF1R3 are you doing the warrior diet? If so what hours do you fast, I fast 20-23 hours depending on what I'm doing during the day.
The part of your video where you talk about drinking is pretty funny. It's so true that alcohol tends to impact you more quickly when practicing IF. However, make sure you're not so set on IF or anything else that you can't allow yourself flexibility. You body needs to have good nutrition before you can comfortably and safely stop eating. Otherwise you may find yourself much more hungry, light-headed, nauseated, etc. Thanks for sharing your journey; I love your honesty in this video. :)
gurl you don't need that your body is bomb
there's so many more great health benefits from IF beyond weight loss though :)
Definitely bomb haha. I’m sure the fasting and eating well helps. Been doing 16/8 split myself with great results.
u need to have good balance of everything what u eat and let body rest regularly. its always behind balance but things might not be as seen always majority people can be fooled by somethings.
This is completely unrelated, but your glasses are adorable! What kind are they? 😍
theyre calvin kline glasses :)
My wife and I have been on a Low Carb Ketogenic diet for 8 months now, and have added in IF just in the last month or two, I have lost 12 pounds (I was 190, now 178) but in the process have grown muscle like never before, I can deadlift 295 lbs, bench 225, and squat 235, I also do kickboxing and a lot of Calisthenics (body weight training, pull-ups, advanced pull-ups, pushups, dips, etc....) I love how I feel when I workout Fasted, when I do my kickboxing class I feel full of energy. My wife has lost 45 pounds with just sporadic workouts, we love this Keto and IF lifestyle!!!!
It's hard to do fasting when you are in one roof with your family. 😑 my sister is always my enemy.
Hey girl,
good job, good for you!
i tried IT before, but I think i was too aggressive about it.
it sure helped me look leaner and i lost about 2KG in about two months of this tough plan.
I however did not actually get to see my abs. i believe that if i could contain the stress and hunger, i could have gone that far. I will try again in the future.
The thing that puts me off about IT is that it can cause you to lose muscle mass over time.
I guess that IT is best used, as u said, intermittently, and not as a constant life habbit.
Good luck!
I’ve done it in the past and need to again. Night snacking is my biggest downfall right now.
So I've been intermittent fasting for the past 3 years without knowing it.....eating one meal a day at 4pm on my break from split shifts. I do that because the second part of my day (5pm to 11pm) is usually more physically demanding than the 9am to 2pm and I do not want to lose consciousness in the kitchen. My weight has not budge an ounce. I guess it works :) Props to you for trying it, committing to it and working through the ''pain'' even though it was a struggle. Very nice video !
Jenny wolf Matte you have to make sure you eat all your calories for the day
I also intermittent fasting without realizing it. I've been doing it for years and I have no problem maintaining weight.
Misadventure Misty same its easy
Did you loose any weight if so how much
She wasnt trying to lose weight. Shes already very lean.
Ok sorry my point is, I don't think she was trying to highlight the weight loss in the video. She seems like the type of person that does not step on the scale often, so perhaps she was trying to highlight the other benefits and has no idea if she even lost weight. Makes sense?
Dominique Chenard again, that wasn't her question so there was no reason for you to reply.
Ok I'll refrain from making positive comments on youtube videos from now on, jeez. I thought it was nice to see a video about IF that didn't mention weight. Have a good day.
Dominique Chenard even if the video itself didn't mention weight, her comment did so there was no need for you to reply lmao get tae fuck
I've done intermintent fasting and my God...results were AMAZING!!! 30 LBS in less than two months. I also was using the app 'Lose It' which is a calorie counting app, as a guideline because I struggle with food addiction. You'd be surprised how much fasting feels GOOD! I LOVE IT! Back to doing it a year later! Best decision I ever made
Really curious how this affected your weight and body fat % while keeping your macros the same!
Please let us know :)
On day 3 of extended intermittent fasting.. Consuming food for 2 hrs, fasting for 22 hrs. The food babies are righteousss.
I started my fitness journey 13 months ago at 197 lbs, 5’ 10 & 26% BF. I did 16/8 for four months with no tracking and no workout and dropped 30 lbs. I started hitting the gym and continued for another couple of months and dropped another 10 lbs. Then I got serious about tracking calories and macros watching my protein and keeping myself in a 500/day calorie deficit. I’m now 145 lbs and around 13% body fat. At around 15%, I started calorie cycling, eating 200 over on strength training days and 500 under on off days, while keeping my protein constant. My plan is to get to 10% and then start slow bulking by bringing my off days to maintenance calories. I’m in the best shape of my like and will be 59 in August. IF was the catalyst to get me going.
lol you are adorable,
lol thanks
There's a bunch of low calorie alcoholic drinks you can have, beautiful. Google it up and have fun. Just be moderate.
Alcohol is the priority when it enters your liver regardless of the caloric value. The liver will cease burning fat for 24 to 48hrs while dealing with the booze.
This is only partially correct. It only stops burning fat while it handles the alcohol, which does not take very long at all (depending on the person of course). Your liver does NOT require 24-48 hours to process alcohol. The liver needs approximately one hour per ounce of alcohol to process. There are a few factors that can affect this, but it's not that long. Unless you go full binge: then you will need a while to process it.
Sally Gates hun, those don't do anything. There is no scientific proof that they burn fat. Whatever you use is all because you worked it off yourself.
I guess I've been fasting for the last 19 years of my life? xD
Actually there is archeological evidence that people foraged and hunted in the morning and didn't eat until later in the day. What you are doing is perfectly normal. What is not normal is human beings having food at will anytime within seconds.
Ohhh eeemmm geeee!
You are SUH CYUTE! 😄😄

Also, I was mildly amused to hear you say it was uncomfortable to keep your tummy sucked in. I spent at least half my life thus far keeping my tummy slightly sucked in, I've done it so long that it's a passive thing that I'm not even consciously aware of most of the time and I have to consciously relax it for that to happen and it's rather uncomfortable for me to relax it. I've been playing around with IF for the past year and have been eating only one big meal a day in the evening for maybe the last 4 months or so, I'm up big fan and proponent of fasting as well.
I have tried this in the past but I get migraines and I find that if I let myself get hungry I get a migraine :( so for me it's just not worth the (literal) pain
emmelineellen I get migraines too and from low blood sugar
One tjing5 that causes that is low nutrients in the body. Don't skip on calories or your nutrients. Have fiber only drink water in between but only drink when your thirsty. Have a consistent schedule and calories. Me 2300 calories. 1 bake Potatoe. 3-4 serving if broccoli.
you can actually do intermittent fasting when you aren't working or in school. you don't want migraines if you are doing mental work. i do it during my off days, just because if i get dizzy and tired, i sleep (my room is dark, helpful for migraine as well), or i am lazy after i wake up and i don't cook or eat or i am doing my chores (no mental work). and i eat after lunch and within then 8-window period. it actually helps, and it actually clears my mind the next day.
If you do a Keto diet you don't get hungry when intermittent Fasting so probably won't get migraines and Keto improves how you feel!!
Drink a meal supplement at 10 or 11 am
ive been in ketosis for 1 year and intermittent fasting for 2.5 years it was a life saver for me
Lheine It starts when you take carbs out of your diet.
Keto-ers are the new vegans
Paul Jansen They really aren't??
I'm on keto I had a kit Kat last night and it fucking knocked me out of ketosis so I need a fasting day and I miss my potatoes lol
Paul Jansen well we eat cheese loads of meat also... lots of veggies too tho
I've been doing IF/high-fat, low-carb/fasted workouts for several months and it's worked beautifully. I took a year off from the gym (longest break ever for me in the last 15 years) due to graduate school/parenthood, and my body very, very quickly got back into shape. I actually stayed the same weight +/- 3 or so pounds (depending of level of hydration and sodium intake) while losing 3 inches around my waist. So I basically lost 15 pounds of fat and recovered 15 pounds of muscle simultaneously. I say recovered because that's what it was - getting back lost gains, which I find is easier to do than to make the gains in the first place (excluding beginner gains, that is).
As someone in a research-driven field, I also appreciate your controlling of variables to focus in on your dependent variables as deftly as possible. It's nice to see other intelligent/scientifically minded folks taking an empirical approach to fitness.
May I ask what you majored in at MIT? Are you going to do graduate school? I earned a full academic scholarship to an Tier 1-rated academic university and graduated 1 of 1,156 while participating in the honors college, upping the challenge, but it was no biggie (I've always taken to intellectual pursuits like a fish-to-water). I was blessed to perform at the same level in both of my grad programs too.
i really wanted to do this but i dont think i can because i have diabetes 1..
I love the part: "sooooooooooo, life happened, and I stuffed my face" :D awesome
