#homesteading #deepsouthhomestead #offgrid
Its great to see people keeping these machines alive and used.
This fish were following, because you were feeding them grass hoppers and other bugs, when mowing.
Danny, its beautiful how you take what looks like junk and bring it back to life.
It is so nice to watch you use your expertise to highlight the ingenuity of folks long gone.🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Very impressive just goes to show hard work and dedication pays off ! You should be so pleased with your self. Excelente job Danny 🤗
My father purchased ours new in 1955 and I still us it every summer to cut a 10 acre field for our neighbor.
Your place is an oasis absolutely beautiful Danny 🤗❤️
It's funny how the simple things in life sooth the soul.
Good morning Danny and Wanda hopefully you are having a great weekend. Been awhile greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲
Danny that tractor is the 💣 Red Rover, Red Rover turn the dirt Over WooWoo
Good good tool but can be dangerous be careful around those Banks until you get really used to it. I remember my daddy cutting down hay with one of those and also mowing around the pond and the ditch Banks on the way in and out the lane. That would make some nice hay for you.
Danny, you are a pleasure and joy to watch and listen to, God bless you Sir
Like that expression Danny.
2 legs and a arm for it, good job Danny,
You are like a kid in a candy store with this tractor. Awesome.
Danny. You're teaching history while you're having fun working. Thank you.
I have heavy weeds along my creeks , and weed eating takes a lot of time and string . This bar should be great and easy work
There’s something about being close to water…it’s good for the soul!!!!
Thanx Danny and Wanda 👍🏽 love your vids🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽May God bless you
Looks really good Danny and the Carp in the pond will thank you for giving back to them.
With all the hills and banks you have it’s a necessity for you to own a sickle mower
You did a great job on that mower. To bring it back from where you started just about makes you look like a miracle worker. Have a froggy day. 🐸
As a retired farmer/ diesel mechanic I can relate to rebuilding things. I sold the farm and bought a thirty year old home on a couple of acres and the estate. Old house, old lawn tractor, old rototiller and the list of work goes on. But I'm thankful at my age I can stay busy and active as I believe I have a few years on you. And I'm impressed with the old FARMALL CUB. At one time I had a FARMALL H that you started it on gas and after it warmed up you switched it over to kerosene. The old girl was built in 1943 the year I was born and she still doing work on the farm in the early 90s.
The reflection in that pond is God's bonus!!
Your property is full of tranquility. I now live in the city but loved my old country living years. I enjoyed the sounds of nature. No police cars, sirens, and hardly no crime. I applaud you, Danny and Wanda sharing your homestead and advise with us. God Bless you both for your hard work🙏🙏
I feel your pain with buying used implements. My son and I went to a big auction in Michigan last weekend. He bought 2 cultivator sets, 2 side dresser sets, a big crate of side dresser parts and an under belly disc. He has a super a and I have a super av. The under belly disc ended up being for a cub as far as we can tell. I thought about you right away but he says “ I guess I’ll have to buy a cub now”. 😂
This video is bringing back memories of my life growing up on my grandfather farm in Indiana 🙏💯
Thank you from Detroit
She’s so purty now!
Love this tractor
Good to know I am contemplating a place with a pond.
The old ways are still the best ways
that really is a nice looking pond.
Lots happening at the Deep South Homestead….watching you from Gander Newfoundland and Labrador Canada and The Ole Church 5 Acre Homestead 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦‼️
Yea, once you get a new cutting bar, it will make a world of difference. Growing up in the 60's on our farm we had a farmall cub and my Dad used it for mowing hay for our horses. I did most of the mowing with it and talk about having a great time, whew I loved that old tractor and watching the hay fall as the sickle bar layed it over so easily. Spent many many hours on that machine and loved every minute of it. The only caveat was waiting till it was dry enough to cut, which meant usually starting after noon, of course it was hotter then, but when you're having fun it did not matter, mow till sundown and call it a day.
Appreciate your shared knowledge, and experience
Nice! Good morning!
Not sure if y'all know about it or not, but there is a guy with a field FULL of farmall stuff on hwy 84 in Collins. When y'all come up 49, get on 84 and head west and he'll be on the left. He may have some stuff you could use.
Good morning guys, nice job on cutter, Danny. Place looks beautiful, you inspire me. Always a lot to do. GOD BLESS GOD SPEED GOD WINS.
Beautiful place, that's for sharing your little piece of paradise.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you sir. Reminds me of riding on Old Blue with my father
Danny that cub is 71 years old and it don't get tired like us when we get older. Where you gona live if your body wears out.
In heaven.
If you get a set of polarized sunglasses you will see right through the reflection to see all the fish.
That is awesome.
You’re a genius!!!
Now that was a joy to watch!
We used our ole cub for hay time, plowing, discing. It was our only tractor. I just love that you are restoring it.
Great job rebuilding that cutter when you get the new blades miss Wanda want see you anymore lol
You need to get some ducks for your pond they would look real cute out there
AWESOME!
Glad for you that it will work.
Super nice!
Blessings, julie
Great job!
You are amazing!
Thanks it was a hard weeks work getting it rebuilt.
Danny, you simply amaze me with all your knowledge!
Oh wow! You're a real Mensch, Danny! Congratulations on your intuitive/logic skills and putting your new mower together!
It's such an enjoyment bringing a piece of equipment back into use when it looks dam near impossible. I would have had some serious doubts too looking at that thing the way it looked on that pallet. You should be smiling every time you use it.
Mr Danny I live in southeastern NC and about 4 miles from me is a old equipment/junkyard and I didn't realize until last week just how many things "farmall" there are on that yard. I'm going to be going back through there this weekend and if they're open I'm going to stop in and get their best contact information and do my best to get it to you. I don't know if it will be of any value personally to you but just in case I know it won't hurt and the possibility of having another resource is worth it. In my opinion anyway. I am so enjoying the progress you are sharing with not only having a great working tractor but you are well on the way of having a new working system in place for the betterment of the homesteading experience and life! Much love to you and Mrs. Wanda. I hope y'all have a great weekend ahead and God bless.
Thanks I'll be waiting to hear from you.
Working Horses With Jim is a CZcams channel that uses similar tools and lives around the Amish he gets a lot of his supplies for his equipment from the Amish. He actually uses a device such as ours to cut his fields with his draft horses.
Very nice mower. Great job cleaning it up. Very nice all around!
Danny the wood pitman arm is made to break like a sheer bolt if you hit something so you don’t do damage to the rest of the mower I’ve helped my dad change a few on other mowers with wood arms
Just got home from work ,sat down and watched your video. Elbow grease, ingenuity, determination and dedication is the key to success. I'm am proud of you all Deep South. God Bless.......00TG from Illinois....
Just learned about your channel from Kevin at Living Traditions Hmstd. This is a great video and would have been an encouragement to me back in the mid 90's when I was buying old equipment to use with my Case VAC. I bought a 3pt. 7' Ford sickle mower that was in pretty good shape but I had to learn how to make it cut to its full capability. For the next 11or12 yrs, that rig and I cut lots of fescue hay. Wife and I square baled it and hauled it mostly ourselves those yrs. until about 2007, I bought a round baler. Keeping the sections sharp is just part of the equation. You also have to keep the guards adjusted so that there is not too much gap between the bottom gaurd plate and the section. In fact, you actually want to section to rub that plate. I pulled into a new client's place to cut his hay once and he just grinned and shook his head. He said, "that will never cut this hay, it's too thick." I had great satisfaction in having him complement me after a couple of rounds on how well it was cutting. Miss those times. It was not fast, but I could do a lot of thinking and meditating while going round and round a 5, 7, or 10 acre field with that rig. Still have all the old equipment, just sitting and rusting. No one wants stuff like this anymore.
Very nice implement to have ,Great job,God Bless.Pond is Beautiful.
That's so nice! My Grandpa had a tractor with all those implements that looked a lot like yours. He used to sharpen the blades on his? I'm reminded of him every time you pull that old Cub out. Thank you.
As you cut , the fish are waiting for the grass hoppers to hit the water
Morning Y’all , NICE ! I can remember my step father using one of these on his farm , everything looks great !
I remember the farm using a sickle sidebar when I was younger. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. Your restoration job looks great! Stay safe and keep on growing 🤠
That is some kinda nice tool there Danny! good job!😉
I just love how you have spent so much time rebuilding a classic tractor and it works perfect. I think it will be so much better when the new teeth come in for it. Its like a big wow! And another wow with all the fish. I could sit all day by that pond just watching the fish. Oh just love the nature God creates for us. Praise Him!
VERY beautiful property 💓
Looking good! I grew up in a big cattle farm and took ponds (and so many things) for granted, man do I miss what I had!
awesome job on the sickle mower.
Great video, kinda rewarding getting it done without instructions, surprised how nice it cut that green grass for not being sharpened. Something about those old tractors and implements. Good job
I thought u was going to go all high tone and stop doing all outside gardening and u bought this tractor to do all the gardening looking for all attachments for this tractor, my uncle all most turn his tractor over because them tractor are so light and top heavy. On flat land it is pretty watching the grass lay over. Them fish are like them grass clippings and bugs from mowing that fresh cut grass. Good luck with the tractor and stay safe ❤️👍🙏🏼
You could bend an iron rod and put it where the board would be. All it does, is deflect the cut grass away from the uncut grass.
Thank you for all your videos it's especially porch time you're doing Great job Danny it's sad but there's a small percentage of people to see Whats coming And don't believe in what's going to happenSadly we're never going back to yesterday the words that our parents used to say the good old days will be The same Words We say ourselves Keep up the great work . . God-bless
Wow. This looks amazing!!!
I'm convinced I need to find me a cub tractor for our gardening.
The reflection sure is spectacular Wanda, pretty as a picture. That Farmall Cub is sure turning out to be the go to machine Danny. How amazing how the Lord sees fit for the fish to eat. God bless and thanks!
Love the restored tractor! As to the fish, have you considered putting a "bug zapper" on the dock - over the water, with the bottom tray of the bug zapper taken off? That way the zapped bugs fall straight into the water as fresh bugs for the fish (free food!). They do that a lot at the lakes around us. Plus the fish hang around your dock more. Also if they make a polarizing lens for your video camera, it cut the reflections off the water so you can show the fish better.
We have solar lights just above the water at our pier. Pulls in lots of bugs for the fish to eat.
The grass carp love fresh grass clippings. I use to feed them baskets full daily at a golf course and it didn't take long before they looked like sharks feeding. I would not be scared to say they were at least forty pounds and 3 1/2 feet long. Really fun to watch them grow into giants.
Mine are getting pretty big also
Another excellent video
I love the pond, the sickle mower did great , we have a pull behind sickle mower that belonged to my dad , I rode on it on the seat controlling the sickle bar by hand my dad drove the model C Allice Chamblers tractor I may have spelled the tractor name wrong. But we used it for all my child hood dad passed it Down to me , and I passed it down to my son . I'm 62 boy that brought back a lot of great memories . Thank you Danny and Wanda. God Bless you both.
Awesome job, Danny!
There is one of those on Craigslist knoxville tn for 100 dollars. Was used last year if you want another.
I'm happy for you Danny. Good job on the restoration. Cheers
yer a freakin' genious
Thanks
That "wooden rod" is actually called a Pitman Arm.
Looks great. Fantastic how your able to do all that. I’m so thankful for my son who comes over and helps me mow and stuff.
You can sharpen the sickle sections with a angle grinder
These are to wore out and thin.
Sweet setup beautiful pond
A little bit of advice. Find you an old cheap cub and put that sickle on it and leave it on there. It’s a pain in the rear having to switch out all that.
Wonder if the sickle was slinging insects and that’s why the fish were following, like the cow birds follow me in the field when I bush hog 🤷♀️
That is so cool! I’ve never heard of a sickle mower. That will be something I need to look into for the future. Right now I’m still on the weed eater. Love the video.
Crazy thing is I just bought a new weed eater. I think I'll be using this instead. Much faster and a lot more fun.
@@DeepSouthHomestead yes faster and fun is a good good combination.
Great content as usual. Love it
nicely done, very enjoyable
It’s beautiful Mr Danny & Ms Wanda little piece of Heaven on earth 🙏
Still looks fun 😁the new part looks good too cool fish
That pulley system must of cost a whole lot as you could tell you were trying to justify the high cost of it! Don't know if you were trying to convince yourself or us! Lol! Hope you get a whole lot of enjoyment out of it Danny and that it makes it easier on you!
If you are lucky enough to find a used one of those pulleys, they usually sell for no less than $100.
Strong work!!!! Need one for my 51 cub
Now you're talking my language Mr Danny! I love this old vintage equipment! You need a circular wood saw mounted on it to saw your firewood, I have a Dearborn to go on my 8n and a homemade saw I plan to do a video on later this fall. Great video, nice work on the sickle bar mower!
