Jeff Galloway was my Cross Country coach at the Galloway School in Atlanta, GA. I was 11 years old, running 3.5 miles with the rest of the track team, around Chastain Park Golf Coarse, and it was hard to keep up, but I did. Jeff Galloway at that time was looked at by all of our parents as kind of a nut, because he had shared his philosophees on the body, the mind, and meditation, and levitation, as it pertained to running. He was trying to teach us to train our minds to control our breathing while running long didtances, and he was like a running Guru to all of us. If you speak to Jeff Galloway, please tell him that Craig Vedder says thanks. He was one of the best teachers that I've ever had.

Ayyy I was addicted to it too. it’s actually super easy to quit to be honest, way easier than nicotine. No physical withdrawals, and at a certain point I almost had a heart attack every time I used. So that helps… lol.

do you think it had long lasting effect on your cognitive power? (congrats for staying sober!)

It so depends on the person. I can heavily use nicotine and quit like it's nothing, however caffeine for me is the hardest drug to quit.

John Stanton the founder of the Running Room in Canada was the guy who introduced the 10-1, run 10 minutes.. walk 1 minute. The studies that i understand he did showed that incorporating walking into a marathon resulted in no significant slower finish line crosses. Mostly due to the change in pace many runners encountered with their tempo. Out of the gate too fast then slowing then speeding up etc. it resulted in thousands of more folk successfully get into the running game.

It’s too bad that the Run2Boston never came to be. I wonder if he’ll ever attempt it again?
