It's petty, it's needlessly conflict-based, and it's also apples to oranges on many levels. Biles was already a multiple event Olympic champion before Tokyo; Biles has medaled at consecutive Olympics. McLaughlin ran in the '16 Olympics and did not medal. One can easily conclude from this that Biles's approach and overall performance is superior, or that we will need to wait until Paris '24 to gauge whether McLaughlin can maintain her present level as long as Biles has. (And remember, Biles also dominated Worlds in between the Olys; McLaughlin's only gold at Worlds is on the relay, which is equivalent to a team title in gymnastics.) As for Osaka, the Olys are not the pinnacle of her sport, whereas for McLaughlin they are, so the nature of their preparation for Olys will be different. Nobody cares that Jayson Tatum didn't prepare as well for Olys as Rai Benjamin did, after all.
Richardson's approach leaves much to be desired, but the fact that she was not allowed to compete means that you cannot actually compare her Oly performance to any of the other women in this discussion.
This discussion is based on a series of false equivalencies.

World Championships silver in 2013, Olympic gold in 2016, World Championships silver in 2017, took down a 16 year-old World Record in 2019 to win the National Championship and then broke it again to take the 2019 World Championship title. She was the Track & Field News World Woman Athlete of 2019. Now she's now #2 all-time in 2021 with a Tokyo Olympic silver in her specialty.
Over the past couple of years, it seems many sportscasters, fans, and sponsors have looked past Ms. Muhammad and held their breath for the "face of USA Track and Field" to ascend. In spite of that, Ms. Muhammad has kept her eyes on the prize and risen to every challenge with grit and grace.
Yes, there's a lot we can all learn from Ms. Muhammad, Ms. McLaughlin, Ms. Felix, Ms. Richardson, Ms. Biles, Ms. Osaka and so many other amazing Mss. out there -- even when they're not winning the gold.

The answer is no which is what you ocho and others should afford those who aren’t at the apex. As for Brady that’s a horrible comparison because he didn’t do it by himself. His first 3 rings were because of the defense and running game. His next rings he played a more central role but had great teammates around him. In TB he had the beat offensive talent in the game and his defense battered Mahomes which is the only way you can beat him. Oh yeah without his defense GB wins the nfc title game because Brady threw three picks.

I'm only 3 minutes in and Acho's argument is oversimplified. There are clearly other variables he's leaving out. Also, even with her win, Sydney is still less decorated than Simone and Naomi. Sure, on some level we can all agree social media is distracting. But these are elite athletes, they're not losing competitions because they can't stay off social media. Yes, Simone said she felt overwhelmed by the pressure. But even without seeing it on social media, she would've still felt the pressure, she was the literal face of the Olympics!

You are basically saying you have only one acceptable way to live your life. Y'all need to seriously get a freaking grip and stop this narrative of the media latching on to a person, pumping them up and then when life happens criticizing how each person deal with it.

An athlete really needs to avoid these situations which impact their mental health. Good for her.

Thank you Tyra, one thing I have observed is the total disdain some black men have for black women especially those within the darker spectrum. When people point this out they want to gaslight you. Simone Biles has worked extremely hard and she has multiple medals, so because this time she was not up to par you bring her down with a new entry just because she is biracial? I think black women should stop supporting these colourist black men in the media and focus on mediums that support and uplift black women.
