Sydney is great... but y'all are off base with Simone😂😂😂. Simone is arguably the greatest women gymnast in world history with many Olympic Gold medals and National endorsements!! I don't think she fits your example. Maybe I'm wrong, but I bet there were quite a few Olympic athletes not on Social media that didn't win Gold. Some probably didn't even medal at all. I like these two brothers a lot, but I dislike pitting Sydney's accomplishment and approach in direct opposition to that of Biles, Osaka and Richardson. It's petty, it's needlessly conflict-based, and it's also apples to oranges on many levels. Biles was already a multiple event Olympic champion before Tokyo; Biles has medaled at consecutive Olympics. McLaughlin ran in the '16 Olympics and did not medal. One can easily conclude from this that Biles's approach and overall performance is superior, or that we will need to wait until Paris '24 to gauge whether McLaughlin can maintain her present level as long as Biles has. (And remember, Biles also dominated Worlds in between the Olys; McLaughlin's only gold at Worlds is on the relay, which is equivalent to a team title in gymnastics.) As for Osaka, the Olys are not the pinnacle of her sport, whereas for McLaughlin they are, so the nature of their preparation for Olys will be different. Nobody cares that Jayson Tatum didn't prepare as well for Olys as Rai Benjamin did, after all.
Richardson's approach leaves much to be desired, but the fact that she was not allowed to compete means that you cannot actually compare her Oly performance to any of the other women in this discussion.
This discussion is based on a series of false equivalencies.
You're making the very mistake this man just told you not to make.

So tired of people taking the easy route of saying social media is toxic. If you got enough mental tenacity, social media at its worst doesnt matter to you. Or to some other mentally tenacious people social media only elevates them. If social media is toxic to you, then I guess I commend you for your knowing yourself and finding a way to keep social media out of your environment
@@TheKos2Kos well biles doesn’t have mental tenacity
@@bryancopca8480 I don't think that's fair. I think it would be more accurate to say that Biles just has other concerns than she once did. It could be that she just doesn't care about gymnastics at the level she once did. It could also be that she is telling the truth and is going through serious performance issues that she's never experienced before. Whatever the case, she's a great athlete that's achieved a lot for the US. The reality is that Biles was on her way out anyway. I can't agree with Acho's perspective. I can't see how Sha' Cari's situation relates to her being on social media. Simone is one of the most medalled gymnast of all time and has achieved far more than Sydney, though Sydney looks like she'll have a great career. In Simone's case, it may have just been her putting too much pressure on herself, which can result in a some kind of perfectionism... and anxiety.

Staying off social media doesn't mean you get a gold medal. It was just her time...well trained & ready.
This was such a powerful conversation I was inspired by your arguments, lessons to learn.
Sydney for sure is someone that everyone should look up to! I see their perspectives but also we do need to acknowledge mental health matters and taking the time you need for yourself matters. Can’t have athletes competing if they aren’t mentally at their best. I get social media plays a huge part and staying off helps but still pressure can be too much for these young athletes. I would rather them take the time they need for themselves than injure themselves when they aren’t mentally at their best. You can give your perspectives all day on these young women but still at the end of the day we aren’t them and we don’t know what it is like to be them on that level of scale.
You missed the point. Marcellus stated mental health issues are because these athletes have too many inputs. Unfortunately they asked for it but now want to claim crazy
Here's a bit of T&F history that our hosts may have missed. It spotlights someone who has demonstrated "the OG mindset" for quite some time now. Her name is Dalilah Muhammad and she is (among other things) a 400m hurdler.
World Championships silver in 2013, Olympic gold in 2016, World Championships silver in 2017, took down a 16 year-old World Record in 2019 to win the National Championship and then broke it again to take the 2019 World Championship title. She was the Track & Field News World Woman Athlete of 2019. Now she's now #2 all-time in 2021 with a Tokyo Olympic silver in her specialty.
Over the past couple of years, it seems many sportscasters, fans, and sponsors have looked past Ms. Muhammad and held their breath for the "face of USA Track and Field" to ascend. In spite of that, Ms. Muhammad has kept her eyes on the prize and risen to every challenge with grit and grace.
Yes, there's a lot we can all learn from Ms. Muhammad, Ms. McLaughlin, Ms. Felix, Ms. Richardson, Ms. Biles, Ms. Osaka and so many other amazing Mss. out there -- even when they're not winning the gold.
Perhaps some "Ms. perspective" can join Mr. Acho and Mr. Wiley at the table?
THANK YOU! I get the point they were trying to make but it's simply based in ignorance and undermines the accomplishments all athletes involved. Why can't we just enjoy greatness.
At barely 20, Syd was next to her crossing the line at the world championships in 2019...0.07 difference. Five seconds better than Dalilah at 20yo.

But perhaps ‘winning’ to those making excuses is just to attend the Olympics as some NFL quarterbacks’ winning is jus to be in the playoffs!

@@DaAvacado You don’t get it so let me simplify it for you. What you and ocho are unwittingly or meaningfully doing is dog whistling. Sure Sydney trained for years but so did many many others. Sure she’s been the best but so have many many others. What if sydney had run and gotten beat by her rival who may or may not have been on social media or having fun or whatever we deem ‘unacceptable’? Do we now slam Sydney for being a hermit? The answer is no which is what you ocho and others should afford those who aren’t at the apex. As for Brady that’s a horrible comparison because he didn’t do it by himself. His first 3 rings were because of the defense and running game. His next rings he played a more central role but had great teammates around him. In TB he had the beat offensive talent in the game and his defense battered Mahomes which is the only way you can beat him. Oh yeah without his defense GB wins the nfc title game because Brady threw three picks.
Bottom line is celebrate a persons accomplishments without crushing others as if they didn’t do anywhere near what the winner did to get to that point.
@@samsonlite3334 If gold medaling, greatness, is the goal then there’s a right way to achieve and wrong way, right? The panel was simply pointing out that success has a blueprint, leaves clues, and if u want to be a winner the path has already been laid out, right? Why deviate?! The margin of error is too small, right? A firm rebuke should never be construed as someone being “chit on” due to their own self sabotage but rather a reminder of how much is at stake…not just for that person but also for those who helped get them there…if he/ she fails to remain focus, toe the line! You will fail this generation if you espouse that pointing out a better way or alternative is an affront to their failed efforts!
And if Brady is a horrible example, so is ur Jordan example. I was jus following ur team analogy. Your Jordan example is also horrible because he was well in his mid 30s, had at least 2-3 championships before being distracted with gambling. These girls are all millennials in their early 20s, representing a global brand, USA vs Jordan’s regional brand, Chicago, and far, far away from being considered dominant in their respective sport, exception Biles. So yeah, Jordan is a horrible example on ur part.
I like your bottom line and agree. But no one is failing to celebrate them for their achievements thus far. Part of the celebration included them being awarded the opportunity to represent the USA, not to mention the monies garnered in contracts along the way. But to much is given, much is required. (This is a reply to your second sentence). In America, Athletics (T&F) doesn’t receive the same recognition as gymnastics and tennis, but worldwide they do. Tennis is ranked the 4th most popular sport, athletics is 5th, and gymnastics is 21st.
@@jacobrolen Gymnastics and Track and field are most popular during the Olympics. And even though Gymnastics is lower on the list doesn't erase the fact that Simone gets much more media attention and spotlight and 400m H isn't a glamorous event. Simone is bigger than her sport. If Sydney would of lost honestly most media and spectators would not have cared.
Entertaining, and passionate dispensing of wisdom and analysis. This was fun to watch.
That sound board analogy is excellent. Thank you for that
No offense to Sydney and what these guys are saying. I mean congratulations to her; but compared to others like Simone and Serena who have a wide resume, she is still a student. BTW, Sha'cari isn't worth meationing, until she learns some humility and understand that actions have consequences. Stop hyping up these up and coming athletes too soon, only to throw them under the bus if they don't meet or exceed people's expectations the next time around. Peace.
Great analysis
They know what they're doing. They're investing in SM's popularity. This piece is not to be fair or accurate as it erases a number of the other athletes and misuses athletes from other sports in order to prop up SM who will and can shine easily on her own. They have to be careful or their clear agendas will turn fans against her.
Your last sentence isn't nothing but the truth!!!!
i mean she had her olympic debut at 16 in rio, has now (july 2022) set the world record 3 different times, has two golds, just won the national chamionship, and is now headed to worlds as the clear favorite to win her event and will likely run the womens 4x4. That’s significantly more achievements than most athletes who have been in it for years longer than her. I get where you are coming from with other athletes having achieved more, but she’s done all that in a short period of time. doesn’t sound like a student to me.
@@masonponton6166 I'm talking about longevity.
Real game knowledge 🔥
I'm only 3 minutes in and Acho's argument is oversimplified. There are clearly other variables he's leaving out. Also, even with her win, Sydney is still less decorated than Simone and Naomi. Sure, on some level we can all agree social media is distracting. But these are elite athletes, they're not losing competitions because they can't stay off social media. Yes, Simone said she felt overwhelmed by the pressure. But even without seeing it on social media, she would've still felt the pressure, she was the literal face of the Olympics!
The winner here are these 2 guys. Both are so honest and on point constructively. Keep it up guys.
Finally a sports show I can finally watch after 5+ years. Great job guys
"You can't call for attention, then hang up"
Yep
Why are two black men comparing how 3 other black women handle different situations, unless all of them are the same person? You are basically saying you have only one acceptable way to live your life. Y'all need to seriously get a freaking grip and stop this narrative of the media latching on to a person, pumping them up and then when life happens criticizing how each person deal with it.
Sydney is smart for doing that. Social media is Hella toxic
You guys speak so well, great show!
It’s crazy cause social media be having folks jealous of someone else’s life that the really ain’t living …. 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
@@TheKos2Kos what a dumb comment. Social media is trash and being on social media doesn't make you, "mentally tenacious." People who spend alot of time on social media are often weak. Staying off social media isn't "taking the easy route." It's called being smart and focusing on yourself for a change.
This becoming my favorite show , just cause the way y'all challenge eachother I remember a couple years back thing we're arguments and not debate
Social media makes you or breaks you. I do think that hearing what people have to say about you on social media can either put pressure on you as an athlete or depress and discourage you as an athlete. An athlete really needs to avoid these situations which impact their mental health. Good for her.
Brilliant take gentlemen! OG mindset is the way
It wasn't social media that bothers Naomi Osaka, and Sha'Carri Richardson has handled her situation excellently...being the media that caused her dilemma in the first place.
One of these 3 people got suspended tho lol, didn’t have anything to do with social media lol
Bad take by both imo. What about all the other gold medal winners who were on social media the entire time? Should they not get even more praise due to you guys stance that social media is a distraction? Plus shacarri didn't bow out because of social media she failed a drug test.
Love your perspective
There is so much knowledge in this video
This is a pretty bogus take from you guys .. If y'all two dudes have a crush on Sydney, then just say that (Even though I'm pretty sure she has like a husband or fiance or something) .. But to throw shade on the other Women is unnecessary .. & Put some respect on Simone's name .. Y'all shouldn't even be comparing Sydney to her, when it comes to Olympic pedigree .. Give me a break .. Dark skin dudes always doing the most over light skin girls 😂🙄🤦🏾♂️ haa ha smh
@@teleologicalanalysis5291 typical what have you done for me lately crowd. Between Simone career vs Sydney career which one is closer to being a failure?
What can we learn from Sifan Hassan? Triple distance medals with 2 golds.
ACHO AND WILEY….GREAT SHOW. THANK YOU BROTHERS. YOUR OPINIONS ARE WELL NOTED.😊👍🇺🇸
Love this girl hopefully we see more of her in the future!!
Tokyo was not Simone's first rodeo. She already won Olympic gold medals in Rio and over a dozen world championship gold. She's already a winner and you can't win it all. This was Sydney's year that's all and I promise she will not win it all. That's just how it is.
Preach! You don't need to be on social media...
Except to make money, which is one of the biggest ways many of these Olympians make a living. lol
@@barak-rocky-giles2081 then you can be on social media for all the other weeks when you’re not competing in the Olympics
@@wilkic2 I think you're right and that's the best compromise that most of them will have to make. Or just source it out to a company, so that it's not actually them interacting on line.
Facts. I deleted my fb Twitter ig and snap and I feel so much better with removing that toxicity out my life.
Except she does because people will stop talking about her after Saturday. So she use social media to promote herself.
Excellent guys!!
My dudes 🔥🔥
You don’t need to praise Sydney by discrediting the others…. Your agreement is so flawed! Dude, count Simone’s medals! She’s been here already.
Exactly
Maybe you didn’t listen. Acho literally stated that this wasn’t about putting one person down to uplift another person….
@@nicholascaterino3011 I listened and I heard that…..he said this, but his argument was a contradiction and it was weak. Btw… I can post my comment/opinion. I don’t need nor did I ask for an interpreter.
Thank you Tyra, one thing I have observed is the total disdain some black men have for black women especially those within the darker spectrum. When people point this out they want to gaslight you. Simone Biles has worked extremely hard and she has multiple medals, so because this time she was not up to par you bring her down with a new entry just because she is biracial? I think black women should stop supporting these colourist black men in the media and focus on mediums that support and uplift black women.
@@sandylove7713 you said it! Great perspective to bring to this argument!
She really has ALL the blessings. I don’t think she’ll mess it up.
I love how these two get so into presenting intelligent takes
Love these guys!!
Kuddos to Sydney congratulations 🎉🍾 but Athing Mu is going down has the best female track and field star ever, she will dominate for the next 12 years
I agree. Sydney is great, and it's not her fault, but part of her allure is that she's beautiful.
Definitely..Athing is the next best thing!
did Athing Mu set a world record? I think it's not just the gold that sets Sydney apart but the world record as well.
@@User_Happy35 remember that Sydney has a nemesis in Daililah that pushes her. Beating Daililah means setting a new WR as Daililah was the WR holder. Athing doesn't have anyone seriously challenging her at the moment. She's capable of setting all kinds of records if she has any serious competition
Sydney and Athing are both outstanding athletes, humble and kind. They're using the gifts God gave them. They're both blessed and highly favored. They both will be a light unto the world. I've met them both although have seen Sydney more because of proximity and shared ventures in Jersey. Sweet young women. I'm praying for them both. Never a need to compare. Both will have upset and downs in their career it's part of life, but both will overcome.
Did they cover the wrestler?
You guys are the best in the game. 👍🏽.
