  • I decided to do Clare Priory craft fair after a 9 year gap. Watch and see how it went. Did I sell anything?
Selling anything direct to the public is great fun and exhilarating. It is however a lot of hard work. I had to hire a van big enough to fit everything inside, drive 5 hours to Clare. Carry and set up everything alone. Its hard work and very tiring BUT extremely rewarding. I got home at 1am on Sunday night. My neighbours at the fair could not have been nicer. They has an amazing leather stall and they were busy all weekend selling their craft and doing live making demos. Seeing what people do and make is inspiring. I hope to meet these lovely people again.
I would highly recommend anyone who is unsure of what they are doing to go and do something that exposes them to real people who are very willing to give you feedback. This might be in the form of comments, good or bad or it might be just that no one seems interested - in that case I guess you need to take the hint!
If you like my painting I am constantly updating my website with prints and all my original art work is available for sale. Check out my website and the most up to date place i post is Instagram. All links can be found on my website: www.richwattsart.com
If you have a commercial business, hotel, office, show home on a new build and need to have creative bright and interesting artwork on the walls, I can either sell or rent the original to you.
And of course if you don't see the size you want then contact me and we can talk about commissioning something bespoke for your space.

Glad it went well and you were encouraged. Your work is wonderful but I guess we all need feedback to help us believe! It looked like a lovely fair in a lovely setting too.

It went really well. I covered all my costs, except the price of Diesel!! Wow that juice is expensive. I was great getting some exposure to the public and meeting people face to face. It was good making contacts and starting to build a network of place people can find me. I am think of opening my house as a gallery once a month. Yes, you are right tho, we all need a little feedback when we work alone and in isolation, confirmation that other people like and are willing to buy what I like painting is reassuring and extremely encouraging.
