    I'm 72, started riding at 16 and have a Bandit 650, so have experienced many "interesting" things over the years. Regarding the comments about "1st bike" and "beginner bike". Just remember that it is more then fast enough to cost you a big fine and, more importantly, your license, then you won't be able to ride any bike for quite a while. Ride safe, ride sensibly and you may just live long enough to be a grumpy old biker like me!

      This motorcycle in my country, do not close to be a "beginner bike", hahaha. we here start with 50cc, 125cc 150cc, 18y old. 600cc up here is a big motorcycle. glad to see you keeping on two wheels, cheers from Brazil.

    Good video! There is not much content about this bike, so i was happy someone make some. This is my first bike too, but mine is an older one with carbs and oil cooling, so its heavier, but still manageable.
    Absolute beginner bike. It has power up high, if you pushing it hard you can compete with bigger bikes on the twisties, if you have some skill. But its friendly down low, so you can make mistakes and get away with it. Im planning to keep it for 4-5 years.
    Be safe and have fun!

    It is indeed a good learner bike, meaning that its heavy enough and not fast enough so you cant go wrong easily. I currently own this guy, and comparatively to mt07 and trident 660 latest editions, this weighs like a war tank so when you switch to other bikes you will feel them easy af.

    • @FxMoto
      @FxMoto  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yeah, the moment you step on a more modern bike, the difference in weight is significant. Other than that though, it was pretty decent considering how cheap you could get em at that time.

    Thanks for sharing this video, it's very useful.
    I also have Bandit, 2008, naked, 650. I really love it. My first motorbike and I think it's not a real learner bike but mainly because of its weight. But if you go more hundred kilometers you won't have problem with the weight.

    • @FxMoto
      @FxMoto  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It all depends I suppose, for me it happened to be a learner bike because my lessons were on 650's, I only learned to ride at 26 so I had access to all of the bikes at that age, considering after this I had a Z1000SX and now am at my second Superduke, it was comparatively a learner. Funnily enough, I still have this in the garage, I sold it but it was never ridden after I did.

    LOVE this review as i do have a Black 09 plate Bandit 650 and it is all that you say
    over a distance i get a bit uncomfortable and to hold it at 50 mph i find it jumpy as it may be the point it wants to want a bit more for the injection system .
    They are a budget bike they are tough bikes they do survive all weathers and they are as heavy as a loaded mini skip and feel like one when trying to keep up with some bikes, but they are relatively cheap to insure as only strong people might steal them and weaker ones be crushed by them.
    I will eventually get a lighter machine but if i can keep the Bandit also then i will

      @FxMoto  Před 5 lety +2

      I don't find them uncomfortable, but they can be buzzy sometimes, which is why I've had trouble finding good mirrors. I personally wouldn't swap them for rethals, but that would be largely because of the styling, if you think they'll do you good who am I to tell you otherwise. I can only say I have ridden it for hours and saw no need to swap them out, there's so many variables though, your height, length of arms, previous injuries making things harder. I wish I could give you a more concise answer.

    Fake Bandit ,proper ones are oil cooled . ABS only helps to prevent skidding ,it can actually cause you to take longer to come to a halt increasing braking distance . I owned the 2000 Y model 600 in the U.K. , it had plenty of power for real world riding & good mid range where the power was needed . It would cruise all day at 70 to 90 mph & was tested by MCM at 129 mph top speed ., how fast do you want to go on public roads . It was pretty docile up to 400 revs ,& very agile once moving & one of the best larger bikes for cutting & dicing city traffic . I fitted mine with a Givi fly screen & enabled the bike to cruise in more comfort above 70 mph . My 600 bandit never broke down in 20 years ,nor dropped or crashed . Still had original exhaust on with two new stainless joint collars that replaced the rotted mild steel original joint , standard air box & carbs . Extras included ,Givi fly screen , rear hugger / mudguard ,gold X chain ,chrome engine bars , steel braided brake hoses , Renntec sports rear rack . No such thing as a learner bike , there are small medium & large capacity motor cycles, I have ridden motorcycles for over 50 years have full licence , I ride what ever size & capacity motorcycle suits my need & purpose at the time .
