    Few seconds was all that I needed to know I want this.
    A Big part is down to Dom's incredible playing. So inspiring, brings it to life.
    The moment he plays with one hand and drinks coffee with the other was priceless

    Dom, what really excites me about your videos is the pure joy of music that speaks from your eyes, face and body in every moment! VSL make great plugins, no doubt about that - but they would be nothing without the people who play them with such dedication as you do. Just great!

    I've been waiting for this library for yeaaaaars! Long time VSL user here but I was tired of using reverb to place the old VIs. I bought it even before getting the email as I saw their video pop up on youtube like 20mn after its release... Instant buy and no regrets! I'll upload a track I composed with it(Woodwinds septet and percs) in a couple of days on my youtube channel!

    Dom, a question. I am drawn towards VSL woodwinds ever since you did that Eastwest / Iconica / BBCSO / VSL comparison. Question: did you play Synchron-ized Woodwinds instruments in that video? Or some of the older VSL VI ones?

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes I did! They were the woodwinds from Special Edition!

    • @TemmeSikkema
      @TemmeSikkema Před 2 lety

      @@DomSigalas Well Sir, you did GREAT with them. I already had HOPUS, and your video inspired an Iconica purchase last week during Steinberg Cyber Weeks sale. But I did have different favourites across all four libraries much like you yourself admitted in that video. So now you drop this Synchron Woodwinds video and -again- my feeling is these are some of the best woodwind samples I have ever heard. How do you like these when compared to the much drier “silent stage” recordings? Too early to tell? Or is there a clear winner for you? (Thanks for your answer by the way. MUCH appreciated!).

  • @OneShortMoment
    @OneShortMoment Před 2 lety

    As expected, those woodwinds really sound great… (and your excellent playing probably doesn’t hurt either 😉) - but there’s one question that I haven’t really seen answered or discussed about them: How „different“ or rather „how much better“ are these compared to the older (IMHO already quite excellent) „synchron-ized“ woodwinds. (I already have most of the latter and now wonder if those newer Synchron WWs would be a significant upgrade or rather just „nice to have“.)
    Maybe you (or anybody else reading this) have an opinion about that…

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas  Před 2 lety +1

      Hmmm very good question! I don't have the other library but once I get my hands on it I will post here to let you know! I have the Special Edition though that you can listen on my other video if that helps!

    • @OneShortMoment
      @OneShortMoment Před 2 lety

      @@DomSigalas Thanks, that would be awesome! (With regards to the woodwinds in VSL synchronized Special Edition, im the one hand I assume that they are somewhat similar to the „full“ synchronized WWs I was asking about - since both are derived from the old/original VSL VI series WWs, but on the other hand probably not too much, since the Special Editions have fewer articulations and less velocity layers/round robins etc.)

    • @alexiskobalt7450
      @alexiskobalt7450 Před 2 lety +1

      I have all three of the Vienna Woodwind libraries. The Synchronised version is 100% worthless to me now. At the point of purchase, though, I preferred using it over the VI version because the sounds sat better in my MIR Pro soundstaging. And the interface is heaps easier to navigate. But if I rated the VI Woodwinds as a 2 in a staging context, then the Synchronised were only a 4 or 5 at best for that. On this scale, the new Synchron Woodwinds would be an 8 and when I combine an instrument from VI and Synchron, it would a 9. Everything comes together to make a jump from 2D to 3D; the sound is lush and full. I would not be surprised if these new samples have been optimised to work better in MIR Pro (especially with MIR 3D coming later this year). VSL has long recommended combining instruments from different libraries to get the best results...but if often involves quite a bit of tweaking. With the Woodwinds, it just works perfectly right out of the box. In terms of pure sound, VI vs Synchron, the VI samples are fine, if not like dough. The right kneading and baking will get you an adequate loaf of bread. Synchron Strings - per Dom's excitement - are akin to walking into a bakery to be handed a loaf fresh from the oven...and it's delicious. If you can afford it, snap up the Synchron Woodwinds in the next week before the double promotion disappears (intro pricing and additional 25% with their vouchers deal). Then at some point this year VSL will have a sale with 65% off their VI instruments and get those woodwinds then. Note: if you purchase the Synchron Woodwinds, don't forget to also download the Update! A lot of the articulations were a harsh mess until the correct versions could be installed over top. If you come across any reviewers complaining of harsh samples in this set, they might not have upgraded.

      @@alexiskobalt7450 Thanks a lot for your extensive comment!
      One the one hand, I'm now tempted even more to follow your suggestion and get the new Synchron Woodwinds... But on the other hand, even at the current pricing (vouchers plus intro), it's still quite an investment. (If I didn't have the synchron-ized WWs already, the decision would be quite a no-brainer. But as it stands, I'm still debating with my self if I the latter aren't "good enough" and if the money might be better spent elsewhere. - e.g. on Synchron Brass. But that's a wholly different discussion. 😉 )

    • @alexiskobalt7450
      @alexiskobalt7450 Před 2 lety +1

      @@OneShortMoment Ah. I did not know you already owned the Synchronised version. If it is a choice between Synchron Woodwinds and Brass...get the vouchers and grab the horns. They are fantastic - and don't need bolstering from the other brass libraries. If you can wait, at some point this year VSL will have both libraries on sale and if you purchased vouchers (and resisted the temptation to spend them) you'll get a double discount. The Synchronised Woodwinds library is not garbage by any means; it's just limited.Think LPs vs Compact Disc. Not everyone heard enough of a sound difference to justify spending to replace all their albums. So if you are happy with your current winds, stick with them for the moment. Note: unless something has changed, sales through the VSL webshop have a secret 14-day return policy.

    Can a very good Computer Improve OutPut Quality? My system is a bit slow. Windows i3 64 bit .The DAW used is cubase 5 & 7 with 32 bit plugins, but it is not difficult to work with. Will the out put quality be more better if the computer is made better?

    ...mmmh I like the video, but I'am not a VSL fan anymore. They are exceptional expensive and my personal preference clearly is Spitfire Audio. I find their products sound better and fit better into a mix. The VSL products often have some unpleasant harshness within the sound and need more care to really sound good in a mix...

  • @subramaniamchandrasekar1397

    No smooth glides in the flutes. Extended ranges do not sound like flute. There are too many VST like this in the market. Regards.
