One more tip: SHIFT + DOUBLE CLICK on a note event (not piano roll) and you will select all notes of same pitch to the right from the clicked note event. Just like in the Arrange window you would do to parts, audio events, etc.
How to create realistic piano feel to chords or like strum
@@HDSTUDIOSp2 learn to play it
Thank you for this! I had been racking my brain trying to remember how to do it.
@@HDSTUDIOSp2 Hi...Try Iterative Quantization for timing & Randomising velocity for volume...
Again nothing beats playing it live !
So trying playing say 50% live with 50% manually edited notes.. 👍
@@reziahamed6654 thank you!!
Thank you so much man! These type of videos is where you really get to know your DAW fast, i came from FL Studio to Cubase Pro and this is exactly what i need
Much thanks for these valuable tips Dom, coupled with your passion for music production which is truly infectious makes these tutorials a joy to watch. Bless your heart bro : )
Dragging the velocities is very very new to me Dom! Thank you very much of giving these tips!
This is so full of useful MIDI tips that I have saved it especially so that I can keep going back to it. Plus, the technology behind this video is really good and professional-like - for example: the way there is a zoom-in on menus and other important information so that it is so easy to see it properly. Dom - I only discovered your videos a few days ago, but I'm working my way through them all. Thanks for making them. I'm new to CuBase - I'm not a total newbie as I write my own specialist MIDI software, and I'm used to other products like Band-in-a-Box, Sibelius, Neuratron etc - but I only acquired CuBase Elements 11 recently to hopefully replace my Yamaha AW16 recording studio with something with more capability, and your tutorials are *very* helpful indeed.
Thank you Dom. I always like this kind of content and, though I already knew most of these tips, there is always something new to be learned. The expansion/compression of velocities and controller data trick is new for me.
I appreciate your delivery, video production values, enthusiasm, etc.
There is one more tip that I use frequently. It is possible to colourize the notes by PART and then open up two or more parts at the same time in the key editor. That is a very useful function when you want to edit parts that need to interact rhythmically (e.g. click and bass) or if you have chords formed by independent instruments (like string orchestra, choir, synth quartet, etc).
Thanks Dom. Knew all of them except the one for selecting all the notes in a pitch. This is awesome! Have a merry christmas.
You are god sent, Dom! You are! Thank you so much for all your super cool videos!
This is a treasure! Thanks! Selecting all notes by cmd clicking the note on the keyboard on the left is super! That one I'm gonna use a lot from now on!
Merry Christmas Dom. I always love it when a video pops up from you. So informative and well explained. I freaking love cubase pro. It’s so fun.
Thank you for always teaching us how to use Cubase with excitement 😀.I love your positive teaching style.I have learned how to get the most out of Cubase with your videos & Greg Onda live stream club Cubase hang outs.I greatful for all your help. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 Dom 😊
Fantastic tips! I'm using a few of these already but the one that I found in this video (that I've not discovered yet) is the one for creating curves in the CC editor by removing all but the one point where you wish to create the smooth curve. This will be hugely useful for the string parts that I'm constantly editing CC data for, to get the expression to sound right.
In just 15 minutes I went from "I'm lost" to "I'm a boss" 😂 Seriously I feel way more confident now, I think I now have all the tools I need, and all my wonderings have subsided
Excellent tips. Thx Dom.
Super useful tips, as always with your vids. Thanks again.
Very useful Tips Dom, Thank you
Thank you Dom,always helpful and learning something new from your videos.Best way is to follow along and save the shortcuts/commands while doing it!!!!
Always love the knowledge you drop on this channel dude! ❤️
All new tips for me. Thanks Dom. Always learning great new tips from you! Happy holidays!
That scale harmony feature totally bypassed my radar, and the show all cc shortcut is such a time saver. Nice one Dom 🙏
its because after effects is needed
Thank you so much Dom for being the Human Manual for Cubase! 👍🙏
Great video Dom! I use every single tip in this except #9. Which I am now thankful for knowing! This will save headaches. Keep making great content!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Hey Dom, great stuff here!
Great tips, thank you so much!
One more TIP: Always watch Sigalas Cubase video tutorials. You will always learn something new. Thank you DOM!
I am using Cubase for over 25 Years now and you still surprise me with your tips!
Thank you for all your great advice man
I knew most of these, but I need to watch the video again to make sure I get all of them. Great tips Dom!
How did I not know about Chord Editing! Thanks Dom and a Happy Christmas and Healthy 2022
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Can't wait to use these tips. I know for a fact that the Chord Editing and Scale Assistant will come in super handy for me!!!
These tips are going to make my workflow going so much faster. Especialy No. 10: Change velocity on the fly. Sometimes, my controller is playing tricks on me and hitting way louder than expected. It was a pain to correct them the old slow way. Thanks a lot, Dom!
Super helpful, thank you!
This was really informative. Thank you.
Ive always been towards Alan Parsons instrumentals, Supertramp, JM Jarre, synths but then I also get inspiration from flamenco and AOR and even jazz and definitely blue notes. But the sound I like is the 80s sound. Relaxed groovy.
I wish I can like this video a thousand times!!! Thank you Dom!❤
I'm trying to think of *any* Dom video I came away from and didn't learn a shedload. You're a gem, Dom 😉
Great Dom, as always. Learning superuseful and sometimes unknown features of Cubase. Thanks.
Great video! I've used Cubase for decades and didn't know quite a few of these :O Thanks Dom!
mannnnnn! I had been looking for a way to manually get to sustain on/off in key editor.. You're the best Dom!
Wow what a game changer.... Thank you dom...
Very useful tips ! thank you very much.
Thanks dom...the scale assistant is brilliant...best wishes for 2022 mate...🎹🎛🎚🔉💥🔥🎶🎧

This video is fantastic!
Great stuff to speed up the workflow!
thanks BRO! Helps ALOT!!!
Yes i needed this, i've upgraded to every Cubase version thats coming out and really hold myself on buying new plug-ins because there is so much Cubase offers. I'm discovering more more :D
Thank you so much, Dom!
I have been working with Cubase since 2005 and learned 4 new things today!
I've watched this before, Dom - but I wanna thank you again. So, so useful. :-)
Great video Dom! Watching again in 4k : )
OMG! THANK YOU!!!
I hadn't really played with the Scale Assistant much. So thank you for the reminder about that as well as all your tips and tricks.
amazing dom thanks you
Thank-you again Dom, just Cubase Fantastic xxx
Beaucoup de tips m'étaient inconnus, merci !
Nuendo user since 1.0. I learned 3 new things today!
Thanks Dom your advice and knowledge of Cubebase is great. My use of Cubebase for composing & producing has been so easy! Merry Christmas 🤘🎀🎄🇦🇺
Thanks Happy Christmas
I have used cubase since v1 on Atari, and I learned heaps today. Thank you.
Dom is always useful!!
Really great
Thank you sir❤
I'm a bit ashamed to say that quite a few tips were new to me, despite the fact that I mainly use midi. So your videos are super useful to me, thank you!
The best tip for me was changing cord in versions, also moving notes and having to maintain the same position. Resetting quantize would be very helpful for me.
How come we’ve advanced so far in sampling technology, but my Phone and ipad voice recognition software is still mired in the dark ages? Should have recognized cord as chord and in versions as inversions. We need more musicians writing code for these devices.
Another very useful video! Thank you! Please, Dom, make a video about mixing many synths together (I mean, from very basic waveforms to very complex sounds)...
Thanks Dom
Midi Velocity Tip was great !!! Hovering over a note and do it instantly is a timesaver on a corwded midi part :)
Wow I really missed so many features. Thank you so much for the series!
You just became my Cubase hero!
I just upgraded to Cubase 11 mainly for the sampler track (sweet) but the chord functions are new to me. Great tips!
very helpful thank you very much
With every ‘Cubase tips’ video you produce I’m shocked by all the knowledge I lack. Thank you 🙏🏻.
Reset quantize! I have wanted to know how to do this for years! That one tip makes this whole video worth it, thank you!
When you dragged and dropped a perfect 3rd harmony of the melody using the scale assistant, I slow-clapped alone in my studio.
Thank you for this COOL video ;) Edit: Brilliant!
Great as always!!! We want to see the new studio DOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Thank you 🙏
As a relatively new user of qbase 11 this has a lot of great tips for me thank you very much
I’m a Cubase passionate user but I have to admit I only knew well 4 of these 12 tips…just to say that I really appreciate your deep knowledge of the daw and your videos in general! Btw Merry Christmas Dom 🎄
Ps: would be awesome to have a video only about the functions of the Logical Editor
Have you seen Dom's video about the Project Logical Editor. Search for "Most Cubase users NEVER use this feature" on Dom's channel. Not about MIDI Editing, but still awesome, and you could easily use some of the knowledge from that video and use it in the MIDI realm.
@@PaisteLover thanks man haven't seen it in the channel before :)
Great tip
was at work today so was not able to join the premier, but good video as always, merry x-Mas Dom tnx
Bro you got my subscribe... You are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you.
Thank you so much my friend!
1) shift + double-click on a note will select all MIDI notes of the same pitch to the end of midi clip;
2) 'quantize end' must be set-up in shortcut preferences for a quick use;
My favorites are "Cloned midi clips". Also there is a way to make all notes to have the same length just with a help of two mouse clicks.
The Key Editor really lacks of range selection tool like Ableton, for easier copy/paste of parts.
Didn't know about 'reset quantize', cool!
i love you and your channel ❤
I'd like to suggest you creating a Video, exclusive about all the different techniques for producing melodies such as Arpeggios etc. I would appreciate it so much!
That’s a great idea for a video
Great info man! 🔥
Next MIDI menu please
Drawing chords is super useful because although I'm fine with the theory, writing a four part choir piece for example is just a headache, much quicker to throw in some chords, invert and move them around than to start from scratch.
Thank you very much Dom. I want to see more about how it works the Automations.
I'm loving the augmented 6th shirt
😊Great video!
"Cleanup in Studio A!" we just had a brain explode...🤗 Your tips are of so much Help! Thank You
Well you are a master !! Tip number 2 is magic .. didn’t know it !!!! And the tip about double notes … it safes a lot of time ….
