I really like your favorite method you described instead of any attached step aiders. To me that adds to bulk and additionally can catch movements from deer when swinging in the wind.
Great video. I’m actually the guy that makes the knaider and swaider. People don’t realize all the uses for them outside of wild edge steps. The swaider makes an excellent foot loop for srt. The knaider can be used on climbing sticks as well to get higher with fewer sticks. I have some new things coming out in January so keep an eye out.

Awesome! I plan on using this method, however I was thinking you could use an open hook caribeener style with a bungee attached from it to your saddle, that way instead of bending over to un hook it, the bungee pulls it off the step for you as you climb up just like your second demonstration
Great vid Spencer, I first started climbing with a swaider and helium 20s...great combination. One thing I’d add tho is if, instead of the amsteel loop, if you pair with the rubber coated j hook from EWO with an extra long swaider, you can hook directly on to the top step and climb. Advantage is for coming down..you can hold your hand right on top that hook on the top step before your foot ever leaves the bottom step. Don’t have to worry about missing your loop/versa button.
Great video. As far as hunting/ run and gun, I perfer another stick or two. Lwcg is sweet and lite weight. The less things to attach and detatch the better. Sticks, stand and bow. Thats just me.

@@SaddleHunter See “Wild Edge Climb 7 ft per Step”. Basically he put a solid step into his aider foot loop with a loop of Amsteel on the bottom which he can hook his Knaider onto. I like the Cain method better, as you are always secured to the tree. Generally it’s 1 Stepp @ every 3.5’, but you couldn’t be more safe, plus there’s no finding a foot loop, nor need for a Knaider. Hunt safely, my Friends!
Im ordering this set up for my Hawk 20" Helium sticks, what's the size stretchy cord and how long did you make it. Also what knots did you tie for the stretchy rope. Thanks for all your videos, they have really helped me understand the gear needed for saddle hunting! Thank you.
You make great videos love what your doing keep it up and if you could add more camera angles or go in depth a little more I know more cameras more time but you are making great video content

Tried looking up those a steel loops on Etsy..Can’t do free shipping unless you spend a certain amount?Where can you get just one of those loops.?Still have to but elastic cord and a clip or caraber.Better off buying a versa aider and save hassle of buying the other stuff IMO unless you have it laying around.

Hey! I was wondering how you are able to hang dump pouches on the Recon. The panels on mine love to shift with a dump pouch attached. Also, I have the backwoods mobile gear Versa Aider and recently cut down my Hawk Heliums, leaving the aider too long. Any DIY ideas to shorten the aider safely? Thanks! New subscriber here!
Thanks for subscribing. Try to "flip the panels". It will hold pouches better that way. I imagine you could uses a heavy duty tri glide to short the aider. doublesteps.com/product/heavy-duty-1-slider/

Great tip! I may pick up a hook and give that a try. I've never missed the versa button coming down but the thought does cross my mind often.

I am going to try this and the modified cane method. I think this will be slightly higher but maybe a little more un steady. We'll see

I hang some modified daisy chains and clip into them with a swaider on both legs all the way up the tree
I’ve thought of trying a two tether climbing method but it seems like a lot of potential noise.

I use a fifi hook instead of carabiner, check it out
I looked into those last year and assumed they would work perfect. I used the hook off a ratchet strap as a temporary fix.

I prefer the swaider because it's sewn on the loop end, but they really are identical in function.

I bought a continuous loop from ETsy. You can buy them from Eastern Woods outdoors. I’d suggest a 4-5” loop
