I work in a grocery store in the dessert department. Every time a holiday comes around we are busy selling tons of pastries to people bragging about having parties. I so thankful to still be working but it is so stressful to know my job is to serve people who aren’t trying. I have a six month old daughter who never sees family for safety reasons. It makes me so angry that some people refuse to take it seriously at this point.
Yeah, I'm working at pharmacy, every effin day there's patients without mask on, and they're very offended by me telling them, they need to put mask on their effin faces. I'm soooo tired of all this s***heads arguing everyday and not caring for anyone and anything than them not liking having mask on their face. With this mindset we will have covid on our backs for the next 10 years or so....
That's really shit. I. Always side eyeing when people brag about it. It's something to break quarantine. But bragging about it is genuinely fucking gross.

I know exactly what you mean. My parents own a farm and during COVID 19 and I helped them out because no one would want to work. There are people who would wear no masks and would get like way too close even by pre-COVID standards. And when people would buy for us, all I'd hear is how people would cook all these big meals for a bunch of people and not only do I feel so dirty because no one would wear a freaking mask except the employees, but now I go home every day thinking I just gave someone everything they needed to spread COVID throughout their family. And I live in conservative country Louisiana, where wearing masks and following social distancing aren't really seen. It drives me crazy. And on top of all of it, my boyfriend that I live with has asthma, so I feel so stressed that I'm putting him at risk.

Look I’m very body conscious I have quite severe Body Dysmorphia that I’ve been fighting to ease in therapy for years and years now. Coming from someone who seriously is thinking about weight 24/7 and comparing myself to literally anyone smd everyone you guys talking about beauty standards in this way genuinely helps. A lot of people touch on it but it seems half spoken on in a way like they don’t really care but they say it coz they’re aware of it. I feel heard and spoken for and you guys really went there and are passionate about it. So thank you. I really really appreciate you guys speaking on this. It does have to change. And thank you for actually making the effort to say f you to standards and encouraging others to legit to bloody do what they want and to love themselves. Thank you Katya and Trixie

@@helloimellieful I mean I'm not gonna brag that being disabled is better than not being disabled but the cost for me was like, learning what my boundaries were and being fully in control of them at all times, learning how to cope in difficult situations and what support networks were available, and having to actually examine who I was and what I wanted instead of just bumbling along and getting worn down by hellish work environments (like seriously, HOW do you people keep going???) and the bombardment of the beauty industry (again, how do you cope, it seems madness) and used a lot of my free time to get REALLY good at making goofy shit and also be that one friend who is basically always going to be around
though obviously it helps if there's national health care and an adequate benefit system in your country, lol (and oh god your disabilities really need to be really visible)
it's cool when they bring guests but honestly not many people can match their energy

Trixie's comment about 'moving like this is a privilege' hits very close to home, as one of my best friends had a stroke 2 yrs ago in his early 40s and is currently wheelchair bound with 20% control of his left side. Never forget how being ambulatory is a privilege, and can be gone in a moment.

@@roanmckinney751 Well, a few years back it was believed that wheelchairs - if you relied on them - were quite useful and "wheelchair bound" was quite "oh poor you and your sad legs" about it. But there was also an argument in terms of "person first" language but tbh that one is very controversial and lots of disabled people don't care for the awkward prissiness of it. There is always a problem when trying to find the right words when there's all this political correctness and euphemism treadmillery going on, I can't tell you what to think or say really. But I appreciate you probably approached this like "you can't tell me shit about this, one of my best friends is a cripple and I've really enjoyed making myself feel brave about it" so I hope I didn't waste your time!

Some heartfelt and sincere extra info though: I have had multiple people tell me - with absolute thoughtless innocence and positive intentions - that they would rather kill themselves than be disabled, and I don't blame them for thinking it because disability seems a lot like an impossible abstract nightmare and most people don't even have to pretend to deal with it.
I'm not going to accuse anyone of thinking it, but I suspect it's quite common (I thought like that) and it took me a very long time to get over it. Bear in mind whatever your friend is going through, he was once like you, and while asking him what he thinks is very important, it is also really valuable to consider that there is more to support and understanding than this, and also it is kinda weird to use him to get permission to say "wheelchair bound". Think internalised homophobia, that kind of thing.
I just want to put out how much I appreciate their convo about the importance of good body images and having a healthy relationship we with food. Like girl I have PCOS, which has severally affected my body, and a history with ED. I feel so seen rn.
That is so true, bigger girls in Drag Race have to try harder in design challenges because they can't just wear a piece of fabric and call it couture.

I part-time at a grocery store on weekends to help my not-so-big-salary as a secretary. Imagine our frustration when we see folks come in and buy 3-4 cases of wine and a butt load of cheese and openly telling us they are having a charcuterie party. Or the 8 women who came in to our store, walked around for 10 minutes laughing and expelling micro-droplets into the air and left without buying anything and you hear them "OK, let's go back to our hotel". It's like, seriously? People are dying, Kim.
Oh I am so thankful I live in Australia, I think my state has like 15 active cases atm. And all of those people are in hotels quarantine arriving from other Australian states, so they won't be walking around spreading it everywhere. I hope ur new president looks after you better, and Kim leaves you alone.

Yeah but we have 1/30th the population of the US. Aus and NZ only worked because there’s less people to herd up
Also we are an island in Australia. So all the cases that have come through are lapses in boarder security aka letting cruise ships come in without having people quarantine.
I understand how it would be harder in landlocked countries.i think it’s really sad what has happened in many countries. Mistakes were made but also it is harder for them. Everyone needs to work together!!

I am sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing okay. I agree, we lucked out in our policy but also our situation. Our government actually made a lot of mistakes but we were able to get over them easily as ALL people who come to the country have to come by plane. (Or people coming back from a cruise) which made it easier. I just mean that I don’t think you could do exactly what we did and have the same results. However it is obvious that some people are doing really bad things and I am sorry that you are one of the people that have to deal with the mistakes and bad decisions of others.
