    I know I'm late to this party, VCO is OK, but, it does nothing to ID the target. Without a camera on the faceplate, you know nothing of what it's hitting on. So, how much depth does it give on 3 tones? For example, how deep with it high tone on a dime or quarter? Thank you.

    Some great detectors to be had for under $400 nowadays. It is hard to beat the Simplex though for a single frequency machine! That concentric coil really helped identify those bottle caps. Garrett makes a 9x12 concentric for the AT Pro that is about $85 on Ebay new shipped.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Před 4 lety

      Yeah it is a buyers market for sure. I have always like this one for the great bottle cap work it does. It for sure beats the Simplex on that front. If the new Simplex coils have a concentric that will change...hopefully. Most places around here are hardpack and shallow targets. ID and separation in modern trash are the name of the game for me. The "good not great" iron work does not concern me much as a park hunter. It does great with aluminum and crown caps...so my hope is I can weed a few keepers out from those heavy spots.

    Great to watch and listen to you review another detector John, oh that it was a. 'you know' the type from either on of 'those brands',: bit like waiting patiently from '10,000Days' till 'Fear Inoculum' if you get my drift. Nevertheless, this review of the O 8500 is of your usual 'top drawer' standard; thorough, very interesting, and enjoyable. All my best to you and your family. Take care, stay safe, and keep up the great videos and live-streaming!

      Thanks Tim I appreciate that. I do wish I would have reviewed this one a few years back when I had my hands on one. Now that it is "not MF" or "not a Simplex" it will get overlooked by all but the USA brand loyal types. It's a shame really as it is a very good coin-shooter and park hunter. Plenty of bottle cap heavy spots I hunt that this will be great in. A nice "bucket lister" to have reviewed all of the Greek series now....mission complete. Take care and all the best my friend. Stay safe.

      TheHunterGT I heard and thought the same thing about the new fisher f series and I actually found it’s just at home hunting in the woods or old house sites ruins plowed fields i have the f22 with 11dd and I like a customs mode with bass tone for iron and vco for all other targets segments really does awesome at letting non ferrous signals through in heavy iron and the iron audio is nice so you can turn it down to just a whisper just how I like it and I think they also hit deeper then most would like to admit in most ground esp when the grounds wet you know that I’m sure and I’m sayin like the gamma omega eurotek new f series and bounty hunter pro line

    Love the high tone nice and clear and crisp ...Wish I had got this detector awhile ago...Great review ..

      I like the high tone as well - although I will likely use the VCO tone 95% of the time. Some of the 8000 users did not care for that digital sound saying it sounds too processed and such. That the 8000 was more pure and analog. Thanks for watching brother.

      Thanks Iffy. I enjoyed the couple hunts I used it on in Colorado. Glad to have one again.

    That thing air tests deeper than I expected. Bet it would gain another inch with 11dd.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Před 4 lety

      It will for sure. I have a large MGC Lab coil I will toss on it for deeper work. But 90% of the time will likely use this coil as a bottle cap worker. It does quite well on them.

    This or a Gamma 6000? Which is you pick and why? Thanks in advance.

  • @treasurehuntingnewyork5979

    Hey hunter would the 11dd off the new fisher f series work on this model

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Před 4 lety

      Yes. The F44/F22 coils work. They are 7.7khz just like this one - with screw on connections. The F75 is 13khz and will not work (for others reading that may not know).

    I had the original Teknetics 8500 back in the 80s, great machine. This is much more computerized with microprocessor, low power components and much lighter I reckon.
    I really liked the more individual hardware controls rather than the overloaded soft controls one must scroll through, this method has become archaic mostly as it is much cheaper to create soft controls.
    Good video, nice machine overall, price point seems fair.

    Hello
    Very informative video.would you recommend this detector for hunting on the beach?Is this a good detector for finding jewelry etc. I would like to buy my 25 yr old grandson a detector for his birthday. Any recommendations ?..

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Před 4 lety

      I would not recommend this for the beach no. I would recommend the Minelab Vanquish or Equinox for that. I am a dealer - feel free to email me at thehuntergt@gmail.com and we can chat more.

    Hunter I love mine I use it as a back up but I do still use it when I go to parks because of the concentric coil.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  Před 4 lety

      Yeah I like it alot actually. I used one in videos a few years back but never got around to reviewing it. Found some silver with it in Colorado. Really good in bottle caps so that is my plan with it. Grab it when I want to hit up picnic areas and curb strips where the caps are plenty.
