Duuuuude, come on, it would've taken you five minutes on Wikipedia to figure out what Eurovision is.
Timothy Horning he’s America Jesus Christ. Shut up
@@tokyo990 Stop getting so triggered in the comments. he is making a video on the EUROVISION WINNER. he should atleast do a little research on what eurovision is first. and i'm from a country that doesn't participate. show or talk about eurovision either but i am full aware what it is. so to use the statement "he's america" is stupid and ignorant

Lol Americans are getting salty at legitimate facts. Sadly for them, facts don't care about their feelings 😅
@@humantaste5776 I have personally witnessed *many* examples of American idiocy. It's not uncommon. "I thought Europe was a country" "Wait, so what's the difference between the UK and Great Britain?" It's pretty hard not to form a negative opinion when a large portion of Americans I have encountered are uneducated in the general knowledge of Europe.

That’s the whole point of Eurovision, whoever is the weirdest and innovative wins ;) plus this song is super fun and that’s also part of Eurovision. The dislikes are because she’s from Israel, that’s it (very sad!!! Some people can’t accept people as individuals)

Yep
I'm an American and I love EuroVision. I've been watching it for years. It expands your music horizons. Eurovision is a contest between all the European Countries that send one entry after they do their own contest for best song and they all vote on best song. This is how ABBA became so famous. The were Eurovision winners.
Although should add some countries don't qualify every year. There are some core countries who do it every year like UK, Germany etc because money, but UK usually sends rubbish acts because apparently we don't care enough to send the best singers

Netta is this amazingly talented and creative Powerhouse! She's so unique and makes art both with her voice and physically. She produces her own melodies and beats, used her mouth and beatboxes, as well as sings and dances. She is very eclectic and makes club songs, empowering songs, and songs when you're in a mood. The only thing I don't like is that I only found out about her a week ago. Since then I have been binging to make up for lost time lol.
Americans get so confused whenever Eurovision is mentioned
larrymeetsphan
Because we have no idea what it is 😂😂
We are never introduced to it, unless something like this comes along and sparks an interest.
Most people claim it’s ignorance, but in reality, it’s just literally that we have never seen it in our entire lives, and has nothing to deal with us. Despite it being “one of the most popular shows on another continent,” as one of these angry individuals said.
You Sure? Nah,yall just don’t bother to do some research ot get to know anything new or anything outside your country. Of course, not everyone but still level of ignorance in America in general is huge when it comes to like every other continent. And its not the problem that he doesnt know or understand the point of it or its value but the fact that he and many more don’t even bother doing some research.
@@karla8561 how can you do research on something if you don't know it exist? There are so many countries and cultures in the world. The average person doesn't sit around on the internet researching countries like that 😂 do you?
Staci-Ann Lawson
EXAAAACTLY!
karla
I stand by Staci in her statement.
ALSO, as I said. If you aren’t directly introduced to something, then how are you going to know it exists? Sure, I’ll agree America has a sort of ignorance about it, but you can’t apply that here.
It simply doesn’t work like that, boo. Like Staci said, there are so many cultures across the world. I don’t know anyone (unless it is their profession, or are studying to actually GO there one day) who does this. As we have our own country to worry about, and the MANY cultures in it, and introduced to it.
America is a tapestry of cultures, so trust me when I say we have our fair share of that as well.
Sorry, but you can’t try to throw America under the bus for this one this time. You tried, though, hun.
The Eurovision Song Contest is not remotely comparable to The Voice or American Idol. It is not a vocal talent show, it is a song contest that had been running annually since 1956. Previous winners include Celine Dion and Abba. Each country sends an original song each year, and the winner is the decided by 50/50 split expert jury and public vote.
Sanchordia thank you I hate trying to explain this
True, and the vote isn't really about their voice/stage presence. It's basically which country has more allies, politically or just neighbouring countries. As each country can't vote for themselves.
Leyla, I don't think that is really true either. If it were just which country had the most friends, then the same country would win every year. Israel for example has no neighbours in the contest, are politically isolated, and yet were victorious this year. Austria won the whole contest in 2014, yet in 2015 received no points at all. The most popular act wins, that is all there really is to it.
Thank you. I never knew what Eurovision was about before.
Leyla I love watching the Eurovision Song Contest just to guess the amount of points awarded to one country by another country. My mum and I got really really good at it because like you said, it’s a bit of a popularity contest and a lot of the countries will give 12, 10 and 8 points to the same country every year. Also, we’re in the UK so we get the points in English and in French (I guess England and France shares the same presenters and broadcast or whatever) so when we guessed the number of points we’d say it in English and then repeat it in French like they do on the TV.
*Ffs it's a S O N G competition, not a singing competition*
Tristan: i dont understand!
me: boi, i live in TEXAS and i can easily understand her, shes speaking ENGLISH dude!
Eurovision started as a way to unite Europe after world war 2 so it holds a bit more significance than just a singing competition. Every country that participates sends an original song to represent them at the competition. Someone wins Eurovision when they get the most points, points are given by both a jury and a televote. I'm a Russian who lives in Canada :) Eurovision consumes my life

@izphuzzy 1. Gay isn't an insult. And 2. I dont see two of the same gender dating? Go do some research
First of all, don't be afraid to listen to a European Song Competition. This was the reality show before reality shows were a thing. Everything already said here all true. Israel is a country in the middle East that has been permitted to join this European competition probably for political reasons of being a secluded country living amongst countries who doubt its legitimacy. The reason this son won despite all these comments is first because it's super catchy and super weird, so it stuck out of the 36 other songs, some of which were incredible. It is also important to note, that while each country voted with its points the song didn't lead, but once the popular vote came in, it did. This win is important because it showed that people liked the message of being the underdog. Netta spoke about being the girl that was called ugly that doesn't deserve to be a winner and many many people identified with that idea, strengthening her and telling her she can be their hero and she can be beautiful despite what society says about beauty. Lastly, she's got MAD pipes! She can sing the shit out of the dictionary, she's amazing!!! She deserves this win and she will have a huge career because her beat boxing is also incredible and her entire package is unique and excellent.
I love eurovision. I swear, I'm obsessed. I'm from the UK and it's sad what happened last year to our girl.
The fact that Israel can compete in the Eurovision Song Contest is because they are part of the European Broadcast Union as well as Turkey (former competitor) or Australia.
The reason they are Eurovision is because Israel is in the European broadcasting union

People are always like ''Europeans are so weird, what's happening?!''
But like... Israel isn't even a European country... IDK what to say
What about verka?? Lol
Eurovision was always wired, that's what makes it awesome.
How about AUSTRALIA... it's far from Europe tbh
It's current inhabitants are mainly migrants from europe. And If you have ever been to Israel, you would know it has the feel of european country. Also, it competes in all the European sports leagues. It may not be geographically but its weird like europe.
Comparing the Eurovision to American Idols is kind of an insult for the cult culture that developed in Europe more than 6 dacades ago. With ratings of 200 million views every year, twice of the super bowl. BTW, it's the most important event of the year for gays Al over Europe, Australia, NZ and Israel.
Having said that, I suggest you to see the original clip of TOY. A vocalist like Netta deserve a better review than her live performance at the semi-final.
first she's only decent also comparing them isn't an insult. they are quite similar.

Tristan, her name is Netta Barzilai and she is not actually joking. She actually has made many remixes and makes all of her own beats with looping and her voice. She is actually very amazing and the song "Toy" is part of the me too movement. The chicken noise is related to the song because the male rooster I believe can mean coward boy, or male in general, which actually makes sense. She is actually quite good, please react to her more.
@S. I. V. It's often the case for Eurovision : Politics are always part of the thing... (just see some of the other winners : 1944 (Jamala), Rise like a phoenix (Conchita Wurst)).
Also countries often vote for their "country friends" (like Eastern Europe always vote for each other), geopolitics at its finest
The song is about the problem of heavy religion as in ultra orthodox Jewish or Muslim teaching Israeli boys that women are made for their pleasure. The chicken noises are a remix of the word stupid in Arabic and the word Boobah means doll which is how boys were and still are treating girls in Israel
Yah boy💪🏾

Disagree. It has always been political. Another example of a political winner song are waterloo by Abba. Look it up!
In Eurovision 2016 the hosts Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw (who won the competition the previous year) did an interval act during one of the semifinals. It's called "Story of ESC (That's Eurovision)". It's a song which basically explains how the contest started and how it works.
During the grand final they did another interval act called "Love Love, Peace Peace" and it's a MASTERPIECE. Basically it's a parody of the festival. They did a synthesis of elements that many ESC songs have in common. They also mentioned and did a recreation of iconic entries from (mostly) the last decade. And some former winners appear too, like Alexander Rybak or Lordi.
So if you wanna know more about Eurovision you should check those performances. Especially Love Love Peace Peace. It's so good you don't even need to understand the references to enjoy it.
No eurovision song will ever be better than Love Love Peace Peace. It is perfect. ;D
Petra and Måns are the greatest hosts Eurovision has ever seen and their interval acts were just amazing

Olha Naumets Since when that is a drawback? The language didn't keep the song from winning. Besides, there are plenty translations of the song.
Looking at all the comments I notice something that everybody gets wrong.... it's NOT a singing competition, it really is a POLITICAL game. What country gives what country points. And what's so obvious about it is is because the points of the audience at home is always very different to what country points go to. All the neighbour countries give eachother their points, stuff like that
also no song is live. Everyone at Eurovision playbacks, don't know why tho
Joeri Spek only the instruments are playback, all vocals are 100% live
The jury is different then the televise because the jury is made of music professionals or those involved in media and entertainment, so they’re judging based on musicality and vocals and artistic-ness of the performance. Basically a way so that something incredibley flashy or silly doesn’t win just because of ridiculousness. Televote are the people, so sometimes they’re swayed by flashy staging or costumes rather than the song content, that’s why with the split, it’s a good middle ground to find where they meet. It was why Ukraine was awarded basically no points from the jury (he comes out of a coffin and proceeds to sit and play at a burning piano) and why Austria did well (nice genre of song, great vocals) but Israel won the televote and scored very high with the jury, so it’s a combination of this that actually contributes to the final winner. Some countries are politically voting for their neighbors (Greece/Cyrprus, Scandinavia, balkans, etc) but you don’t just give one vote, it’s a Gaussian distribution from 12 to 1 point so even If you give Greece 12 points, you gotta award who you actually like a decent amount too. Also no European countries owe Israel anything. Same with Portugal last year who stole number one in both televote and jury.
Political voting is not as big as you think. Israel won despite not having any participating neighbours (and its neighbours hate it anyway) and no real bond with ANY other european country.
Joeri Spek if it was about talent hungary would have won.
PLEAAAAAAASE react to the winner of this years eurovision (the final was tonight😁) Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands!! 🙏🏻 I'm convinced you will totally fall in love with the song and his voice!😍😍
Now I'm gonna go back to partying cause my country freakin WON🎉🎉❤️
Congratulations from your neighbors, greetings from Germany! 😊🌷
Why the fuck why?
when will he realise she's talking the same language as him duhhh
Eurovision is the highlight of the year... (currently suffering from post eurovision depression) 😩❤️
lilbean reb omg same, eurovision was like 2 weeks ago and I already can't wait for 2019 :(
lilbean reb same
Omg me too
Girl me!
I am still salty Cyprus didnt win
You should watch Eurovision 2019 it’s on tomorrow
Sje should do the 5 worst voted ones...
I'm from America and I absolutely LOVE Eurovision. The meaning behind it, and the talented performers every year are just incredible
Her voice is so good
So basically everyone wants their country to win Eurovision. Also, we have no idea how Australia got into Eurovision last year, we, europeans, are as confused as everyone else. But that’s not the point. People having the contest all over the country searching for the best contestant for like a month, can be a professional singer or just a amazing unknown singer whatever. Then, usually in may, the semifinals and finals are happening. It’s kinda like the olympics but for singers and just for Europe (except for Australia but I don’t care I love that country tho). If my country won I don’t know if they’d afford hosting all those foreign singer I swear to God but I still want it to win just for the sake of it because I think we never did 😂😂
melwonderdoo right, and at the end of the finale before the winners are announced there are 2 kinds of votes 1. 42 countries give away a certain amount of points to the participating countries (12 being the highest amount) 2. The public votes which means ervyone who watches it can vote for a certain country over the phone.. but you cannot vote for your own country unless you are in a different country at that moment.. :)
marisa exactly and I thank u haha I thought I was writing too much too fast so I just stopped without giving so many details 😂💕
melwonderdoo ahhh same I was like "let's get this shit over with" lmao😂💞 btw love your channel 😊
Love how people care so much about Australia being in it but don't seem to care that Israel isn't European either...
Carlos Gonzales WAIT A SECOND
If I'm gonna try to explain it in american terms Eurovision is about as big as Super bowl. A bit like the Olympics for music.
Everyone watches it. Every country sends in a song and they compete.
But the whole show is fabulously wonderfully weird. Like this song, nothing on how weird it can get.
It's been going on since the 50's and are in some ways part of a long going peace effort in the EU. Talent Shows has nothing to do with this.
You should watch it. It's really is something special. It's always a lot, and definitely not only in a good way.
I would recommend watching it with the BBC commentary, they are pretty much considered to have the best and funniest commentary.
And who the host country is really matters. Like the production value is all over the place. Sweden have been highly praised as a host country, either malmö 2013 or stockholm 2016 are both good.
But last year in portugal was good. If you want to see the context for this performance.
IQzminus2 you are so right about everything in this comment! It totally is Super Bowl for Europeans. Also I think Denmark did a pretty good host job in 2014 as well as Sweden.😂👌🏻🇩🇰
Portugal was shit when they won.
@@jessievapez5955 Portugal 2017 was the only good song that year but ok
@@Sam-hk4qj Yes, that's why it's got the biggest amount views as a non-sports show lmao, grow up
IQzminus2 Eurovision is bigger than the Super Bowl tbh
Soooo are you going to make another reaction video to this year's Eurovision winner?
Wow i really enjoy your reaction and the song! I love your channel
She is different,
She is unique.
That's why she won.
POLITICAL SONG, supports radical feminism against man.
@@veselinkostic5704 "I am not your toy" what's radical about that it's true WOMEN are not your toy.
she’s also against jews...
Lady Godivo not 100% agree she won because she used her voice as a different instrument in strange ways and she can sing good (don’t like the song)
Btw I can only understand why people disliked her as her voice isn't the best and how many cracks and off notes she had is probably the reason why people dislike her
Tristan: I don't known what she is saying
DUDE SHE IS SINGING IN ENGLISH 😂😂
I honestly love that Israel is enjoying this and being free and happy in this performance. Even if AMERICANS don’t understand. They don’t have to understand. I don’t understand some fandoms but seeing people happy makes me happy. I really liked the performance. Super different and refreshing
REACT TO Arcade-Duncan Laurence (Winner Eurovision 2019)
The German entry this year still makes me cry. Maybe you are interested, he's called Michael Schulte with "You Let Me Walk Alone" dedicated to his dead father. Anyway have fun in Germany!
usedtobemyself I totally agree. I come from Germany but I mostly don’t support the German ESC singers bc they haven’t been that good the last few years but Michael was so good. He nearly cried on the stage. He really deserved to win
I don't even know who represented us ever since Lena lmao
Meggy Mdz I love your coutry and I loved Michael at Eurovision. His song was honestly EVERYTHING to me and he should've won this year. It was such an emotional performance and I think he had tears in his eyes the whole time while singing. I like this guy because he has an incredible voice and I love the strength and the courage he had to stand in front of so many people (basically the whole Europe) and sing something so personal. I just loved it!
usedtobemyself I love Lena. She is amazing and I am glad she won some years ago.
MY FAVORITE AHHHH MICHAEL IS JUST TOO GOOD
Man, so many angry man-children in the
comments here.
Anyway, it's entirely goddamn unnecessary to insult him for not knowing what Eurovision is about and struggling to understand the lyrics. There's not a whole lot of Eurovision coverage or even promotional material for it here in Amerclca. The lyrics being difficult to pick out throughout some spots have nothing to do with accents, and everything to do with the speed, the other musical elements that at times make it simply hard to hear the words, and most importantly, the _intentional_ stylized pronunciation that every singer employs to some degree. In that regard, she reminds me a bit of Adele, who is often difficult to understand.
But I digress. What I originally wanted to do here, before everyone else's ignorance frustrated me, was make a request! Would you consider reacting to Elina Ivashchenko performing "1944" on The Voice Kids Ukraine? That is the song that won Eurovision in 2016, but I believe Elina's performance far surpasses the original, which is already a fantastic song to begin with!
PunkUke The lyrics he couldn't understand are actually in Hebrew, "Ani lo booba", meaning "I'm not a doll"
Dood ur comment is 2 fuking long
I’m stupid but Living up to your name, I see.
PunkUke we must educate them. It’s perfectly normal for an American to not know what Eurovision is. Then you tell them the origins of ABBA and that’s your window to get the to join the cult
Ooh, thank you for clarifying! I didn't know the language, but I actually thought he was just referring to other parts of the song that were still in English but were difficult to understand. (I hope you see this because I was unable to reply to you using your username, it formatted incorrectly)
She is have beautiful Voice 😍 idont know why many People Dislike but ilove her voice very much
As an American I understand her just fine. I can also understand most people from other countries too. I think it is because I watch a lot different shows for different countries. USA does not make it easy to watch show from other countries, but with streaming it has opened doors that were closed. I hope it gets better, because I can’t wait to be able to watch Eurovision live from the USA. Hoping one day we could have a worldvision contest too.
I wouldnt compare this to an american idol and voice cuz every country has a competitions like these ones.. Eurovision is international.... each country that wants to compete chooses a one representative singer with a song .... one of them winns.. now that Netta from Israel won, the next eurovision is going to take place in israel.... its always the winning country to host the competition. american idol and voice and european competitions being a coppy of these two happen only inside of a country and usually there are people who arent famous and recognised. In eurovision, the contestants are already a singers recognised in their own country.. for example if the united states wanted to attend eurovision, you guys would pick an already existing singer and song which u think is the best one and has a chance to win ... and u send the singer to perform the song to the country where the eurovision is being hosted.... thats it... its not about talent... its not a talent competition cuz they already are talented and are singers..... its about the best song and the best performance... Im surprised u didnt understand what she was singing because the sang the whole song in english...not everybody does that many contestants sing in their native language.....sometimes the message is not important and the song is just catchy and they have a good performance.... in this song, the message was important for you to understand whats going on.. good thing she was singing in english
Slovak Queen The Voice is actually a Dutch format and not American ;-)
same shit, 4 people (half of which have no vocal ability what so ever(generally, not sure what its like for shows in other countries) judging other people with however many more people behind them, the voice, american idol, xfactor are all the same and they're actually awful.
Robert Veen I’m pretty sure the voice started in England like ages ago:) x
bts. charli nope, it started in the netherlands, it's only one google search away boo
Slovak Queen the message in this song is important? Why didn’t she make it understandable then?
As a European I’ve grown up with Eurovision and it was never confusing, so let me try to explain it simply for everyone that doesn’t know what it is.
Every European country that wants to compete sends a representative whether this is trough a own competition in their country like the Scandinavian countries does or something else.
Then every country except Germany, France, the uk, Italy, Spain (the big five) and last years winning country goes trough two semi finals where they preform their song and ten countries from each one goes trough to the actual final. In the final each country preforms their song again and a jury from each country hands out points from 1-12 to their favourite artists, then they add the television votes and the one with the highest score combined wins.
Bonus fact:
This voting system is very new and makes Alexander Rybak, the winner of 2009 still have the actual highest score from Eurovision, because if you were to convert the highest score after the change, his would still be the highest. This is why he’s known as the king or prince of Eurovision.
This is the easiest way to explain Eurovision so I hope it wasn’t too confusing and too long.
Marie Steinum | Italy was not even participating between 1997-2011.
In my totally biased opinion (Irishman here) he is the prince of Eurovision cauae every Irish person knows Johnny Logan is the King of Eurovision. He won it twice for Ireland and a third time as a song writer. Also he was Australian with Irish roots so when people say why is Australia in the competition, Johnny Logan that's why ok.
Eleonore Bon Im just basically summing up what I’ve heard other say, so I didn’t know. I hadn’t watched the full thing before this year.
The Logic Of Cheese You’re probably right. Iv heard both King and Prince of Eurovision. Many think he’s the “king” because apparently Alexander is known in other countries like the U.S.A, but I agree that he’s more like the prince.
Bro. Why tf are you looking for lyrics? She's literally singing in ENLGISH
Quick summary Eurovision is like Olympics just for singing people are gonna get mad political and wild it's like 10 times better than any of your American singing competitions like people dress up in their flags in their traditional styles everything is just so emotional i love it
“She looks like a troll” that’s just a little RUDE !!!!
Sarcasm it’s REALLY RUDE
He is talking about her personality, not how does she look like.
How can you call someone a troll by their personality...? I don't get it ._.
@@biancabogdan9224 Being Troll is like being funny or to do things like it's a joke. Idk how to explain it but it's more or less that.
@@biancabogdan9224 You must be thinking about troll like the shrek or something. Trolls on the internet is someone who makes fun or takes the shit on other people.
HAHAHHAHA lol he said “she seems like a giant troll” like she seems like a jokester!! im actually dying at how wrong you interpreted that
What everyone is ignoring is that she can clearly sing. I love Eurovision and watch every year and I voted for Israel. This song stood out in the night. I loved Cyrus too
Ashley J I reckon that last note she hit nailed it for her, it was so unforgettable
and was the highlight of the song and the song was catchy as hell
idk why netta gets so much hate she has so much talent she just chooses to present herself differently and uniquely
This was outstanding....A bloody brilliant song and performance. This is what happens to music when you go yeah 👍
HOW DOES HE NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT SHES SAYING IM SO CONFUSED and when he went “how’d she win” I was like umm 🙄🙄
+++
I didn’t understand some of it lol
How did she win the song is bad
She clucks like a chicken i dont speak chicken.
I honestly don't think her voice is that great
46 countries from Europe participate each year. They have their own original songs and compete for the price. The winning country is gonna host the competition the following year. This competition is happening for 60 years now and around 117 million people watch it every year. In my country and generally in Europe this competition is pretty big, like superbowl. People from each country are allowed to vote every country except theirs and also there are judges that also vote. The winner comes from judges and peoples total points. :)
the song speaks about women empowerment. she says he's a pakapaka (he is a chicken' he is a coward). the song has a great message' the performance is AMAZING and it's totally catchy. you literally can't stop singing it for days. Netta rocks it (and her voice is LIT), so yeah, she won. that's what's going on there.
React to the winner of this year!!! He is an amazing technical singer, would be very interesting to hear you talking about 😊
How don't you know about eurovision? I mean really???? It's one of the best singing competition, way more original than fake competition like American idol,x factor or even voice
The voice is originally Dutch, I believe the other two shows are as well(not sure tho) . So from Europe...
.many people from America don't know what Eurovision is, because they don't about and they are not competing in it, also they are not from Europe.
