I'm a custodian in CT. 5+ years. Love my school, staff and students.
This is the sort of custodian that wins my respect and. appreciation. When Jim decides to retire do to age , this school will take some time to find another dedicated custodian like Jim. In an aged care facility I was asked if I would be glad to go back to cleaning, and I replied to the cleaner, "When the opportunity is offered, yes".
Ive been a custodian at a supermarket for 8 years. I've lost a lot of the drive and motivation I once had. The corporation always overlooks me, the customers look down on me, the employees are actually really cool. This is what I needed to get that drive back! Ty, sir! I'm going in tomorrow and I'm going to be the old me back when I gave a damn!
Maybe the negative feelings is your skin shedding into a butterfly. Follow your heart .

I'm a custodian and there's pensions that come with the job, mine is through PEERS, it's not a bad job either, I go after jobs that have pensions exclusively, I'm working on my second pension and I've bought my fifth rental property a few months ago and I'm on tract to retire at 39. Here's another tip, the state of Nevada doesn't tax pensions.

God Bless Janitors because they really do have the toughest job, no matter their environment. I go to a Home Depot location and I tagged along with the janitor their and boy people make a mess in front of his face, in the bathrooms and the aisles of the store. And worst of all, people go to those bathrooms to take a dump, just like cows going in a milk barn to get milked, *Locking themselves in them stalls* !😡
As a custodian i do much more than clean. I set up meetings, move furniture, do all the weed whipping, get the outdoor trash, sweep outside, clean the football stadium, and plow the sidewalks. I hate the stereotype custodians have. I work my A** of to the point of near exhaustion for low pay and no raises (thanks to our wonderful union)
When you walk into a school or public building, make sure you get the custodians when they cross paths with you.
DAMN I wish I had his routine my head custodian makes me cut the grass outside every single day and then I got to clean inside also I feel like he takes advantage of me
