Haha yeah! Trick to finding the one from AAL songs is to just listen to the lowest note on guitar, it's basically there lol
He's an incredible player for sure. Parrhesia was my favourite album of last year by a clear margin and he's a big part of why AAL are so good (along with Tosin being a rare musical genius).
These videos were also from a few years ago - since then he's become absolutely jacked :)
Ha! Yea, COVID had him going hard in the gym. There's so many drummers I want to deep dive into their work, hard to get them all in!

you should really check out some of his playthroughs from their latest album, I'd suggest Red Miso, Monomyth, Gordian naught or anything else really, insane stuff
His body of work is impressive. Check out anything from their "The Joy of Motion" album. Just ridiculousness lol

@@StephenTaylorDrums no doubt incredible, but not something that I can relax to while listening to. Ozric Tentacles on the other hand is technical enough, but extremely relaxing to listen to, and damned fun to play to.

Great is an understatement. Matt is playing on a level with long time heavyweights TWICE HIS AGE. His ferocious and meticulous command of time is otherworldly. As for the band… let me just say I respect all technical music but SO MUCH OF IT sounds geeky and cheesy whereas Animals as Leaders makes ultratechnical sound COOL AS FUCK
Its best not to to count time or try to headbang at an AAL show.itll make your head explode and your neck hurt.lol

As technically inclined Matt's drumming is, and he's incredibly insane when he's smoking the skins, sometimes that music is a little bit uncomfortable to listen to. It's too all over the place with syncopation and switching signatures. It just sounds too jumpy.
I would love to be able to be as phenomenal as he is, but I still don't like the sound of a lot of Animals As as Leaders music. They're all incredible musicians nonetheless, and I'm not trying to take that away from them.

He's good, but I wouldn't want to listen to it.
Hes really good but it seems like every time these guys play a song its the same weird instrumental song that I would never listen to again. No memorable melody. I understand its just to highlight their skills but it sure has a low repeated listening factor.
Its just too much.
