So fun to play with too and so versatile for what can be done with the motion technology. Like the cool ass grandpa that started the family that the newer gen wants to live like. • @leonro
      @leonro Před rokem +6

      Well, there's Prime Remastered now, but even before that there was World of Goo. However, the problem with pointer controls on the Switch is that it's imprecise and will not be consistently calibrated like the Wii's because there's no IR sensor bar. You can find something similar to the Wii's pointer's consistency in VR, because there's cameras all over that can accurately see the controllers' positions. But again, the Switch does not have anything to check the controller position and the sensors of a controller are always a little inaccurate.

      @@leonro I'm sorry, are you currently remembering that experience??? The wiimotes constantly disconnecting, the motion NEVER being smooth, controls that can be interfered with *by turning on a lamp*, and controls that degrade if you have a larger TV. (The sensor bar works much better on smaller TVs.)
      Like, you might as well be here bragging about how "immersive" the NES Zapper was. Using the gyro was a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE improvement. Just look at Skyward Sword. That game wasn't possible with the IR sensor, and it correspondingly never used it. It was gyro only.

    • @leonro
      @leonro Před rokem +5

      @@macgeek2004 I always played with the Wii in the living room, and the remotes worked great with the IR sensor bar. I never had to turn on a lamp near the TV, as we don't have one. The only times it was wonky was when they were too close to the bar, but otherwise the experience was good.
      The TV there is still the same 48" 3D 1080p LCD, so I don't see why size would have been an issue. That was already quite a large display at the time. I also never used the NES zapper, so I can't comment, but I don't believe there are many who agree with you that gyro is a strict improvement over that solution.
      It is more practical, definitely, and allows for seeing somewhat precise movement outside of pointing the controller at the sensor bar. Wii Sports Resort was literally a tech demo for what is possible only with gyro. But with no tracking that compares the controller's position to at least one static object around it, like the Wii with the sensor bar, or VR tracking the entire room, you will never be able to pinpoint the controller's position as accurately.
      Skyward Sword was flawed in that it solely relied on the gyro and did not use the sensor bar to reset the remote's position whenever it was pointed at the screen. You literally cannot play the game without resetting the sword's position every once in a while. The sensor bar allowed for precision that just is not possible for the current Switch to achieve, or for the Wii Motion Plus accessory. Also, there was absolutely no reason to use gyro for aiming something when that action was already so much more accurate with the Wii's old pointer mechanics.
      You appear to not have understood my point in the first place. It's not thar gyro is better than IR tracking or vice versa, they just have different strengths, and IR is strictly better when it comes to using a pointer.

    The speaker is one of my favorite things about the Wii Remote, believe it or not.
    My favorite use is in No More Heroes, which, when Travis gets a phone call in-game, you hold the Wii Remote to the side of your head like a phone and the call comes through the Remote's speaker! It turns what would have been dry mandatory walking sections into something charming and novel that, at the time, only the Wii could pull off

    Our Wii remotes speakers barely work anymore, occasionally cutting in and out with a staticky undertone. Which means if you’re playing Twilight Princess and Midna giggles at you through the controller, it comes out a garbled crackly mess that sounds like a singing birthday card left out in the cold for 6 years
    I guess it does still add ambiance, just more of the ‘creepy and terrifying’ kind, which luckily still works for that game.
