- Castlevania is known for its exceptionally awesome music, from the NES days till nowadays. Obviously, the 16 bit era is no exception. I couldn't even narrow it down to 10, so I decided to make a top 20. Make sure to see the other video too :)
Anyway, the rule is, only one version of each song.
The games that qualify are:
Super Castlevania 4 (SNES)
Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES) aka Dracula XX or Vampire's Kiss
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (TG16CD)
Akumajou Dracula (X68000) aka Castlevania Chronicles
Castlevania Bloodlines (GEN/MD) aka The New Generation
Rate, comment, subscribe, enjoy!
Part 1:
• Top 20 16-bit Castleva... - Hry
7:50 Best version of "Bloody Tears" EVER!
Cross a Fear! One of my favorite tracks in any video game!
Damn 1:10 kicks ass.
Castlvania IV is just awesome in every way, I remember clearly when I bought my SNES back in '92 and this was the first game that I bought alongside, it juste blew my mind, I've been a fan since the NES and this was just so cool, the music, the moves, the backgrounds, the whole atmosphere...
Bro it has been 11 years, how you doing?
that's AMAZING!!! very good video bro, the best choosen!
Whenever I listen to Castlevania music it trips me out. Amazing stuff, really.
Gee, I get the feeling this guy really likes his Rondo of Blood/Dracula X music.
Great compilation of Castlevania themes.
I guess you are right. I'm not even sure the X68000 qualifies as a 16-bit system as it's more like a PC than a console. I just wanted to put the early 90's Castlevania games in one category and it was the "16-bit era" so...
Good to see someone love rondo as much as it should be!
Simon's Theme is Number 1!!!
GustaveTheSteel yes it is!
no
only is castlevania rondo of blood and Super castlevania 4 -_-
nice list. Has a lot of my favorites too. Den is the best for sure!
Divine Bloodlines is so amazing
No game from the CastleVania series will never be as good as IV. Whipping in 8 directions, walking while crouching, and overall better control make that game a masterpiece and the definitive CastleVania.
9 sounds like a Sonic song, the Castlevania sound team must have been fans. Great stuff all around, love Castlevania.
WHAT?!!! Simon's theme in 8th place >:(
You gotta be kidding
good stuff
Great.
I'm all for the songs included here, just not necessarily in that order haha....GREAT list, I can't believe I'm agreeing with a Castlevania list, especially of music...Rondo of Blood is the best CV game evar, thanks for making the list :)
It's funky, and catchy as hell
The whole point of beating Level 1 on Bloodlines was so you could hear Sinking Old Sanctuary on Level 2. Definitely should've cracked the Top 10. I'll admit I need to play Rondo and SCIV but damn, Bloodlines had some tunes that should've edged out some of these.
Good call on Bloody Tears though, heard nothing but great things about that track and indeed, it was awesome.
Simon's theme (dance of the holy man) is my favorite tune. Bloody tears and Vampire killer come close second and third.
even though richter is my favorite belmont i still prefer the super castlevania version of bloody tears
Simon's theme in Dracula's fight is one of the most epic moments in the entire franchise
great list, im a dracula x fan myself. ill never forget this game & everything it broght with it!
I think we could all agree that most Castlevania songs are epic. On this list alone I could argue for half of them to be #1 and there are a few more not on the list I could argue that it should be #1. Castlevania has have to have the best music of all the games. Half the reason I love these games was because from area to area the music just drew you into it and got you pumped from start to finish. Good list bud.
CASTLEVANIA IS AWESOME
This video should be renamed "Top 10 16-bit Songs Castlevania: Rondo of Blood"
@Chepito2846
I have a top 20-11 video that has 3 Bloodlines songs. I wanted to make my top 20 more varied, but I can't help it. The better quality of the Rondo / Dracula X soundtrack music made me prefer those.
You do realize that there is a "part one", top 20-11 :P Link in the description.
@SatyrGodWoot
One again, check out the top 20-11 video :P
It MAY be a stretch because it was a CD game, but it was for the PC-Engine CD which was an add-on for the PC-Engine, a 16-bit console (kind of).
Yeah I probably should've watched the other video too. I agree about the sound quality, especially for Bloody Tears. It definitely has the best version of it. Especially because of the organ part in it. Now to watch the other video.
I see ...Ritcher everywhere.
Can;t have a top 10 list without Simons theme.
Yeah. I have to agree with it.
Simon Theme the greatest song of my childhood.Suck my cartridge SNES.
Sorry if I made you sad, kid.
But seriously, Simon's theme was the first Castlevania-song I've heard.
That was more than 10 years ago.
Where is it? It HAS to be in this list somewhere... Not looking very likely...
YES! My favorite CV song is #1!! I very much prefer the Rondo version, but still...
I still remember playing RoB with the audio hooked up to my stereo way back in the day. It was the most mind-blowing soundtrack I had ever heard, well... other than the Ys games, that is.
It's not often I overwhelmingly agree with someone's choices in these videos, but... Really great choices. You even nailed all my favorite CV4 songs!
Wrong guess, I actually played them all. Out of the 16 bit games, these two or three had the best music (imo), largely due to superior sound quality. But I made a top 20-11 which most people seem to ignore that does have some Bloodlines and Chronicles songs in it.
I made a top 20-11 list, that one has more variety (has Bloodlines and Chronicles, too). I can't help it, I just like the Rondo / Dracula X music that much. Sound quality helps for sure.
I didn't mean sound quality criteria, of course. I have listed this songs thinking about just in the composition quality, arrangement and the imersion atmosphere transmitted by the music. I love that organ intro of the SC4's Theme of Simon, but I still prefer the original Chronicles version, by it's epic sonority.
Castlevania 4 is like the mold for all the other castlevanias.
Bloody tears need to be on the first place! best song in the hole game!
Simon's Theme, out of these songs, should definitely be first.
I'm thinking that was the point of ReBirth, it was supposed to emulate their old 16-bit arcade hardware. I personally liked ReBirth a lot, but the tunes were all re-imaginings of older Castlevania music. Still, your picks are nice. Rondo of Blood is pretty kickass.
Right. Here it goes:
1 - Simon's Theme - Chronicles
2 - Cross Your Heart
3 - Iron Blue Intention
4 - Vampire Killer - Chronicles
5 - Moon-fight
6 - Begining - SC4
7 - Wicked Child, Arranged version from Chronicles
8 - Cross a Fear
9 - Opposing Bloodlines
10 - Dance of Illusions
11 - Calling From Heaven
12 - Thrasard in Cave
13 - Picture os a Ghost Ship
14 - Slash
15 - Blood Tears - Chronicles
16 - March of Holy Man
17 - Poison Mind
18 - The Caves
19 - The Tower of Dolls
20 - Cemetery
11 years
@SatyrGodWoot Isn't Vampire Killer originally 8-bit?
Dang, now that you don't have to jump anymore to hit him in Super Castlevania IV, Drac is FAST...
Simon's Theme is my No. 1
I see this guy likes his dracula x music
I think the title is somewhat misleading. The songs from rondo of blood aren't 16-bit, even though the graphics are. I thought it was gonna be a list of the actual music that was in 16-bit. Personally, I always felt that Simon Belmont's theme from Super Castlevania IV was the best along with the same games versions of Bloody Tears and Vampire Killer.
@atolm1 that song came out after sonic 1 and 2 but i see what u mean
Den? FUCK YEA!
*Sees 8*
Someone pass me a torch and a pitchfork.
I certainly do :P But besides the gameplay I think that game has the best music too, and the sound quality is also way better than with Bloodlines or Chronicles.
That is more opinion based, and though I think rondo of Blood has a great soundtrack, bloodlines is something I can jam to all day
No Bloodlines ? Ok, automatically this makes it a not worth watching list.
*****
Sinking Old Sanctuary is a preddy damn great theme, but mostly in its later remixes in CotM and LoD.
Pls dude, no memorable tunes ?
As you mentioned Iron Blue Intention, Reincarnated Soul, Sinking Old Man Sanctuary, some of these tunes should be here, I suppose you havent played Bloodlines at all.
Blaevy yeah and the simon's theme of bloodline is the best version ever !!!!
I like many of the songs from Bloodlines, but not the original versions. Iron Blue Intention in PoR and Sinking Old Sanctuary in CotM sound fantastic imo. But as for the originals, they are good, but can't compete with Rondo.
Your number 10 is my number 1 :p
it's because those two have the best music in the whole series, not only the 16 bit era, I think
Just my opinion, I liked Simon's theme more in its Genesis version than in its original Snes version.
1:05 sounds like Wonderdog. Anybody remember that Sega CD game?
Where is Treasury Room from Super Castlevania IV
Okay, we get it, you like Rondo of Blood..
Was ReBirth out when this video was made?
This seriously could've been top 10 from Rondo of Blood. lol.
Cross a Fear is awesome, but I wouldn't put it above Simon's theme if I were you......
aaaaah VAMPIRE KILLER
Great for the Minecraft Castlevania map.
Arguably, despite its name, the Turbografx 16 isn't a 16-bit console. The CPU was actually 8-bit, and that's usually the defining component. However, the GPU was 16-bit, which is why some still argue that it should be considered 16-bit.
If you're merely going by the processor, then I believe the Intellivision is also a 16 bit console. (Though technically it should be considered a ten bit console since six bits were inaccessible by the software.)
I expected at least 2 tracks from Castlevania Bloodlines
To my opinion, the song Divine Bloodlines from the snes version should have been on first place.
bloody tears has to be number one. c'mon man!
You know, there is a top 20-11 part of this list, and that does have Bloodlines music. They made the top 20, but not the top 10 for me. Mostly due to sound quality, and same goes for Chronicles.
I get that it tried to emulate the arcade-y style, which worked for Gradius Rebirth and Contra Rebirth, but Castlevania was always a home console game series, so if anything, ReBirth should have recaptured the SNES / TG16 (or maybe Sega Gen/MD) style because. The cluttered, noisy arcade sound doesn't fit well with the Castlevania atmosphere imo. The gameplay of Rebirth was certainly really good though.
Not enough Castlevania 4 tracks...
Bloody Tears -AOTP
The graphics of Rondo of Blood are 16-bits, the music is not.
A 16 bit music is that of the SNES or the Genesis. The CD quality of the Rondo of Blood soundtrack surpass that limit by FAR.
Same for Chronicles, it is a PSX game, so the "16 bit" does not apply.
We are talking about maybe double the bits of a 16 bit cartridge.
Anyway, Rondo of Blood has some good music, I agree, but it does not shadow some of the 16 bit music of the SNES and Genesis.
I actually think the newer games have the best soundtracks in the series, like SotN, DoS, PoR, OoE and HD. And Dracula X Chronicles (Rondo remake, you can tell I gotta lova that).
Ganondorf is in Castlevania 02:28
There must be somthing wrong here because Simon's theme is the best. It's a fact
And the Wii and PSP.
rondo has the best music of all castlevania games and I think its a better game then sotn.
5:30 now the great part begins
Actually Dracula X Opposing Bloodlines is better than Rondo of Blood version
And im not the only one who thinks that Simon Belmont theme should be the number 1
The best is the 8 song
There's an awkward lack of SC4 in this video
2:20 >>>> ALL
How can you include cd audiobook tracks when your title refers to 16 bit tracks? Rondo of blood cheats its way into the top ten. Great game on PC engine, but the cd tracks are too op for a 16 bit list.
I wanted a top 20 for the whole era, rather than each console. I am fuly aware there are differences in the sound quality between the consoles which can make it "unfair", but even the SNES has way better sound than the Gen/MD, so is that unfair too? Funnily enough, in some cases I prefer the Dracula X version of some songs, for example the number 1 on the list. It feels more pumping and energetic to me with the SNES sounds :)
WTF? Simon's Theme in 8th place?
7:50
i get that u like rondo of blood......a lot, more than half on the list was from it lol
Great Top 10, but I prefer Divine Bloodlines stage 1 version and the number 1 Den is not that good.
Rondo of Blood was 8 bit...
***** Actually not. Turbografx16 was 8-bit in processor, but it has 16-bit graphics, wchich makes it an 16 bit system. That means that castlevania rob is 16-bit game.
Also RoB was later released on SNES.
say what? Bloodlines isn't a mediocre soundtrack. Most people in fact love bloodlines and call one of the best if not the best castlevania soundtrack. It is that great. and the sound chip isn't the best, but that doesn't really effect it that much
u rlly like rondo of blood right? xD
Of course. But some songs you have posted in part one (20-11) are quite better than these. Well, that is my opinion. It's a good list anyway
Manliest song in a Castlevania, in 8th place? Damn, no.
