I have to admit having watched your videos over the years he is growing into a fine young man who truly takes after his papa. He's become much more confident as was said above with the way he openly talks now instead of his old shyness. Truly a proud day to see the younger generation coming along so well.
When I first started watching, James was just a little guy who wouldn't even touch sea stars. Now he's grabbing lobsters. Watching him grow in confidence has been just a amazing as the rest of your content.
My father recently passed away, both my parents have gone. I’m 32 but, my fondest memories was my father taking me out on walks (we lived in a old copper mining town) and after dinner him and I would go out looking for mining artifacts and memorabilia. He would teach me about things and the history. Kinda like what you and your son are doing. It’s a beautiful thing to see out in the world. Some may think it’s trivial but, your son will remember these walks for the rest of his life. God bless and God speed @Fishlocker
I must apologise. I have only just seen this comment. I am truly sorry to hear of your loss, though it sounds like you had a good relationship with your father. Take care and we hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. 😊💙
Great to see you both.. WOW James has progressed so much, from not even wanting to touch a lobster to devouring at least half of one!!! Lovely to see, that plus his growth in knowledge and sense of humour.. I detect a proud Dad moment !! Great video 😀😀😀
Especially with his dad providing gentle guidance and encouragement with a bit of humor. The best life lessons are learned that way. Congrats to you both.
I have to say "Thank You so much for sharing with us a glimpse of your lives!" When I first found your channel years ago James was wearing his little Thomas the Tank Engine boots, had his Tonka Trucks to play with and was squeamish about even touching seaweed. All he ate at the cookups was toast, Hula Hoops and Marshmallows, now look at him. It is wonderful to watch and I hope you continue to share your awesome content.
Credit where it is due James.. What a foraging find!!! I know of Gold prospectors with sons who only have half of your enthusiasm. Your dad is one of the best kind, Keep listening and learning... Well done!!!
Keep sharing it then, I'm down Taunton, Penzance, Camborne, Helston, Truro & Newquay tomorrow. I only wish I had time to stop by and say hello. @@TheFishLocker
I haven’t been keeping up with your videos much lately, but what a lovely surprise to see young James growing up so quick! He’s gone from a shy little boy to a confident young man! Y’all are such a treat. Congrats on the lobster. Your foraging videos are always my favorite
Another wonderful video John and James. James sure has a lot of knowledge of the seashore! Being brought up right John, you must be very proud of him. That lobster looked wonderful! All the very best Graham 👍👍🦞🦞🦞🦞
Taking "Hold the torch there" to "hold the camera there" without the shouting is top tier parenting. My dad was a smart guy but John takes encouragement education to another level.
I have been in hospital for a while , I have missed watching your videos so much ! So happy James is on my first catch up video, I get taught every video I watch , I am not even a fisherman or (woman) 😂 or even do it as a hobby , but I am captivated on each and every video thank you John
James is such a clever lad! He was already plucking up some seaweed to cover up the lobster to keep him well until you get him home. How nice to see your family getting out and enjoying the summer.

Years from now James will have the ability to show his kids how he obtained his knowledge of the world from his dad. Every kid always asks how did you know that your videos are a great school of information. THANKS

I’m sure he appreciates it now, but when James is older he’ll reflect and appreciate more what a great dad you are. You cannot buy these life experiences, they are unique and precious. Top class John 👏❤️
So glad to see James is now enjoying Lobster . He didn't much care for it when he was a little fella You're doing a wonderful jof teaching young James about the sea and it's inhabitants . Well done !!!
There is nothing better than eating what you caught, foraged, or grew. I'm watching this while shelling last years crop of walnuts from our walnut tree
Great video John and James, was in North sea yesterday with my youngest one of them days you never forget, you must be proud of james and his knowledge, you and Hannah are great parents 👍
When I was a boy, we'd visit relatives near Cape Cod. Once a year, they'd go collect lobsters, crabs, scallops, clams and mussels, and get corn (maize) at the nearby farmstand. The men would dig a large hole, fill it with firewood and large stones, and set the wood alight. Once the wood was down to ash, they'd put a layer of wet seaweed down, food to cook, more seaweed,, etc. Then just leave it while the hot rocks steamed the seaweed. Open it back up again, and have a feast. I know it was a lot of work, but I just ate all day and into the night. The best food, and a great family event.
James will have loads of memories from these kinds of days and hopefully if the world is still fertile enough he'll be taking his kids and showing him what his dad taught him
It's great seeing James' progress year by year. It brings back all sorts of memories of when my boys and I were much younger. It won't be long before James is taking you along on his adventures. Enjoy !
How utterly cool is this! A father and son set on rocks eating fresh caught/cooked lobster. A memory you both will not soon forget. I love this video! Good on you sir 👍
James is such a loverly lad, my boys 4 and obsessed with going fishing with me, mostly river because that's what's local. I can only hope my son is half as passionate as yours. A proud father you should me
Not been around much recently because I spent 2 weeks at the beach on Anglesey. Made a german I-Spy sort of a game for the little niblings. It was a FAB. I was sooo happy to be on a beach again. Anyway, if there are any German fans of this channel, I'll be happy to share.
I love the fact that you will repeat some information even if it was in a recent video!! I love how you listen and ask your son about his experience as you both are seeing it. He is learning and we are too!!
Another brilliant and interesting video and the star of the show was James. As a father of 4 and a Grandparent of 7, I felt so proud that he found and caught that beautiful Lobster. With a little help from his dad.😊
