@Owen Arnold invertebrates are animals with no backbone. Squid, octopus, slug, crab, spider, etc are examples of them. You can classify them as marine thingy, but invertebrate is more specific because not all marine thingy is considered as invertebrate. Fish and whale are considered vertebrates because they have backbone. Octopus is the most intelligent invertebrate and marine creature. Squid is quite smart, but not in the level of octopus. Some experts even said if there were a creature on earth that could someday rival human's intelligent, it would be octopus.

I did a little test (1.15.2) on how mobs act in water these days, and how long it takes them to swim to shore. Pig, wolf and chicken passed with flying colours. Sheep and fox also did well. The cow was slow, but did eventually leave the water. However, the horse and llama did worse, far worse. The llama didn't even move. Poor sucker looked like the cow in this video. Even the rabbits could figure it out, and they can't help but fling themselves off ledges.
Edit: a squid also beached itself and died during the test.
