Sims 2
Pregnancy was first introduced in The Sims 2. Under normal circumstances, only adults and elder males can initiate "Try for Baby" and only female adult Sims can become pregnant. So, After Two Sims of the opposite gender, have a Successful "Try For Baby", this lullaby sound will announce the Sim's pregnancy. Pregnancies last 75 Sim hours in The Sims 2. During The first trimester, the pregnant Sim can get nauseated and even throw up.
After 25 hours of the conception, the Sim will expand in their belly and change in maternity clothes. Other Sims can rub their belly and talk to the tummy. Pregnant Sims can't clean litterboxes, use a hot tub. But they can go for a swim and use almost every gym equipment. 25 hours later the pregnant Sim will go into labor.
Sims 3
In The Sims 3, Under normal circumstances, young adults, adults, and male elders can initiate "try for a baby", but only female young adults and adults can get pregnant. Like in The Sims 2, a successful pregnancy is announced by a lullaby. Pregnancies lasts 72 Sim hours in The Sims 3.
Other Sims can listen to their belly, They can feel the belly and talk to the belly. At first the belly is not showing, but it will progressively grow larger with every trimester. When the baby is ready, the Sim will go into labor. Sims can give birth at home or at the hospital.
Sims 4
In The Sims 4, under normal circumstances, Sims can try the traditional way of getting pregnant, by "trying for baby" with Sims that are young adults or above. A successful pregnancy is no longer announced by a lullaby, but if you want to start the pregnancy faster, the Sim needs to take a pregnancy test. If the Sim is pregnant, they'll enter in their first trimester and immediately have a bump. In The Sims 4, The pregnant Sim will continue wearing their normal clothes. The Sim's belly will grow once in 24h. There will be countdown to every trimester. During their first and second trimester, pregnant Sims can use gym equipment, they can box, exercise, run on the treadmill, but they can't go jogging. The third trimester usually lasts a day, even though there is no countdown. When the baby is ready, the Sim will go into labor, that lasts several hours. If you own a bassinet, the Sim can give birth immediately. With The Sims 4: Get to Work, the Sim can give birth at the hospital.

In The Sims 4, if a pregnant Sim is almost starving, she takes a nutritious bar out of her pocket and eats it to avoid dying, this is a very interesting detail.
also in The Sims 3, Pregnant Sims will simply have their Hunger reset to 7 Hours from Starvation, as Pregnant Sims in 3 and 4 Cannot die. however they Can in The Sims 2 (Without Mods), if a Pregnant Sim dies in 2. I believe it was said to Pause Pregnancy permanently until she is resurrected

@@maskedlucina5574 I had this strange moment, when my female Sim was pregnant - then, a sign "Robert got a syndrome of big tummy!" (or smth like that) appeared and he became acting like pregnant woman, even walking like that. However, his belly wasn't growing up and he never gave birth to child.

In the sims 4 if you have the RPO mod installed you cannot eat strawberries to get a girl or eat carrots to get a boy. That mod also allows teens to get pregnant which is not possible in the unmodded game. My sim named Serenity Rune became pregnant as a teenager after messing around with her boyfriend on a rocket ship. I would like to see teen pregnancy without mods in future sims games but only via alien abduction or via a rocket ship which would produce alien babies.

@@SigmaRho2922 Tbh I doubt they'd add or advocate for teen pregnancy in their game and making it so that it's something done during the non-consensual abduction from aliens makes EVEN MORE unlikely they'll add it. It doesn't really take away from anything in the game, so having it is a mod is the best and right solution.
Because of this video I just found out why my sim kept having boys, her favorite genre is alternative and she listens to it everyday while cooking 😭

I like that in sims 4 the sims boobs get larger too while pregnant, and the hunger bar decresases faster than usual
I love that Sims 4 doesn’t have the restrictions for what a pregnant sim can wear. I was always so annoyed in Sims 3 that my pre-planned outfits had to be cut down.
As painful as this sounds that is why mods exists... pregnancy morphs for default outfits I think

sims 2 for me wins simply because of the cozy and detailed animations making it feel so alive
doesn't go into all the random supernatural "oh influence the gender of the baby this way or that" no, simple yet so alive with the best animations and voice acting
The plumbob separating into a tiny plumbob in the birth cutscene got me so hard when I first saw it as a kid while playing. Just so touching and cute. Though, the two things The Sims 4 did well is gender customization and parental leave.

The sims 3 wins. There's also the details about wishes; when parents have preferences about the baby's gender about wanting a girl or a boy (sometimes even family members can have a wish about that). The pregnant sim may also have her mood affected by the pregnancy and will have back pain due to the weight of her belly (which if another sim offers a massage can help alleviate). The pregnancy in TS3 it's more realistic and with more details to me, so that's why it's my favorite
I also like that the mom has food cravings while pregnant and the parents usually wishes to buy furnitures etc so so cute

Sims 3 seems so good for the pregnancy 😭 I had to mod sims 4 to get those!! (sims 3 also has a song by my favorite band in one of the packs)
I'm also pretty sure that in the sims 4 a pregnant sims' bladder need decreases faster which is a pretty neat detail
I'm glad that they kept that in! I still play Sims 2, and hunger, comfort, and bladder decrease SO fast during the third trimester that it can get a little dicey if you aren't paying close attention. ;;>.>

There is another cool detail in Sims 3: a pregnant Sim can have back pain. You can just wait out this moodlet, or you can get a massage from your partner or in a beauty salon.

In the sims 4 if you have get to work pack with doctor at lvl 6 (I believe) you can also determine gender of the baby
The TS4 baby being extracted from the mom by that machine is just disturbing to me. That's not a hospital, it's a mad scientist's lab lol. I would love to see a follow-up video for things like alien pregnancies!

It's also possible in the Sims 2, but it takes a special set of circumstances that I never quite figured out how to intentionally trigger. I was so shocked the first time a Sim started to autonimously breastfeed her child!

There is a small workaround for this, because if the outfit your sim is wearing before pregnancy is already valid as a pregnancy outfit, they will keep wearing that. I believe you can look up which clothes are valid pregnancy clothes, so in that way you can still kinda customize your sims pregnancy outfit

11:01 That's not true. Teenagers do have the pregnancy options in CAS. Not sure why, since they can't try for baby, but they have them. Maybe EA accounted the existence of teen pregnancy mods when creating this option? 😅
Oh, and the option to give birth in hospital in Sims 4 is also available without Get to Work. In that case, the pregnant Sim will leave the lot and after some time will return back with the new baby or babies, if twins or triplets. There is no option to send anyone else with them, but if the other parent is present on the lot, they will still go. The same thing will happen even with Get to Work installed when you choose the option "Send Alone". Yes, this is not very clear, but it's the same formulation as with the active careers or High School Years.
And I definitely prefer Sims 4 when it comes to pregnancy, if for nothing else, then for the absence of those ugly pregnancy clothing. Pregnancy test is also more realistic, than lullaby from Sims 2 and 3.
And yes, I definitely want a video about alien pregnancy. And maybe even video comparing Sims 4 science baby with Sims 3: Into the Future engineering babies wouldn't be a bed idea.

I am glad that they took out two things the lullaby when they woohoo and and I am thankful that in The Sims 4. The maternity clothes you don't have to wear. A life that they had added a pregnancy test instead. The only thing I don't like about it is it automatically gets you into first trimester.
The thing I do like that they added in the sims 2 to was you can get sick with the litter box.
I also like whenever you have 'get to work' you can have them in the hospital "and sims 3

A couple things you missed:
The size of your Sim's baby bump is dependent on the current weight of your sim.
Their hunger, energy and bladder needs will decrease much faster while pregnant.
You don't have to take a pregnancy test or share big news during the pregnancy.
The weight your sim gains while pregnant will stay with them after the pregnancy and lastly, sims who have the "hates kids" trait will be tense or uncomfortable their whole pregnancy.
I played Sims 3, I made my OC Karina with the Sun family from Dynasty Warriors series, she got pregnant with Sun Quran. Sun Ce was supposed to drive them to the hospital when she was expecting, and all he did was dance in his boxers listening to music.
I just remembered the Sims 3 patch notes where it said something about a tuning issue that means Sims 'will now vomit at acceptable levels'.

You missed one for improving chances at twins/triplets in The Sims 4. If you have Crystal Creations, cut gemstones and crafted jewelry made with Shinolite also have this effect if charged on the Mystical Moonlight Crystal Grid.

12:34 I actually had a Sims glitch at that exact location. My Not So Berry Red Gen Sim was taking a trip to that spa with her family, and was pregnant. And she went in that hot tub perfectly fine with no side effects. But she did this on her own will and I couldn't tell her to.
