    Doug after seeing your recommended Poker books I picked up, and have been reading "The Course" by Ed Miller. By far the best and easily relatable poker book I have had to date. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Very nice, Doug!!! I'm really happy the 10 8cc with trips held for a monster pot. 😊 I played a home game on Friday and was in for $500, down to my last $100, and spun it up to $660. It wasn't a huge win, but a win nonetheless.

    Great videos Doug. Keep up the great work. Can you explain your 5th goal list in the beginning ( don't bluff strong ranges) or point me towards a resource to learn?

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci +1

      When your opponent is repping a strong range that connects with the board, don’t try to bluff as often. He most likely has something he will call with. Instead bluff more when his range is weaker and/or doesn’t connect well with the board. Attack weak ranges, avoid strong ranges.

    Hooray for Zeus! I love his advice today. Lots of players struggle to identify good spots for caution; Zeus is teaching you to identify good spots for aggression. It's almost like he knows you better than anyone.
    11:20 "I was betting top pair for value , I felt like I was out of line"
    "That doesn't sound too crazy. What was your hand?"
    "8-4 off."
    "Doug, you're a g-d lunatic."
    Stay wild, Doug, stay free.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      Aggression is key to solid poker. I tend to take passive lines to often. Luckily I have Zeus to keep me in line.

    Doug, Your approach and Playing style is something most 1/2 or 1/3 players should learn from. I think most players who play regular small stakes get into a mode of only considering a session a win if profit is above $1k and end up staying on the table and putting chips at risk. I play like you do. I set a timer and set a $ limit(I dont believe in running "hot" so that I have to stay more) but If I buy in for $400 and Have a $400 profit, I rack up and leave. thats 100% ROI. I truly enjoy your vlogs man! Keep up the good work. Also if you can incorporate some intangibles on maybe showcasing why bluffing too much on small stakes is not worth it, that would be great

    • @nicholi2789
      @nicholi2789 Před 4 měsíci

      I used to do that. Anytime I won a buy in or more I racked up immediately. I stopped doing that. If I’m playing well and feeling locked in i stay. I think if you’re a winning player your focus should be on putting in good hours. Because you know that hours=EV.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      As I get older, my attention span decreases. I hardly ever play long sessions now, but when I do its because its an amazing game. There are good spots to bluff and I bluff more than most people think. At the lower limits, people payoff too much. No need to bluff calling stations, just value bet everything.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      Play as long as you are a favorite. I get tired easily so my sessions are shorter.

      Being last action is a benefit. Many play very straight forward. Felt like a bet would get tons of folds.

  • @joeyp3094
    @joeyp3094 Před 4 měsíci

    Nice play all around Doug. On the KK hand where you called the 95 without raising, did you assume (like I did) at the time there were more A2, 67, A3, etc... than draws out there?

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      I should probably just raise and charge draws. I kinda wanted the button to overcall or make a play, he was getting frustrated.

    I like the bet with pocket 44 of 225. I was thinking 250 to make the bet look like a bluff. That’s the pretty much the only way your getting called there

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      He played the hand well, but I am never folding in that spot. He has a very wide range of hands he could play that way. He just happened to have the one I could not beat.

    Great video as always. I play mostly tournaments with my friends and sometimes it's really tilting being card dead for a long time and having to pay bigger and bigger blinds. Is there any way to cope with this?

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      Sometimes you just have to play your position and look for weakness. Steal enough to stay alive.

  • @richardhoffman710

    Encouraging to hear about being card dead for so long.
    Will help me be patient instead of trying to force action.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      Being card dead happens. You can’t control the cards, but you can control how you react to it. Patience and discipline can save $ when you run poorly.

    Your hand with the set of 4's. Your flop bet is too small. there's a diamond draw, straight draw and a queen there. Your small bet just bloats the pot for the people on draws and it doesn't cut off their pot odds. You're missing out on value for someone with a queen. You should be betting close to pot there. It doesn't change the outcome, but you're making it very easy for draws to get there on you and you're missing out on value for the other hands.

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Před 4 měsíci

      He bet into me and I flatted. Raising is a viable play and maybe the optimal play. He is likely to continue with all his range so I decided to raise on a later street.
