I introduced my friend to this game a week ago and he was quite on the fence about it.
After a couple hours his reaction was: "I don't know why... but I'm having fun... .. wonna do another?"

nearly 1000 hrs in this game and I still rock and stone.

@@ajaxnation9504 tbh I dont know. The first time I played, I droped the game pretty quickly too. When the first season came around I jumped in and never stop playing.
I think the true charm happen when I got my promotions for all the classes and I started to unlock overclocks. On top of that I got so many fun moment you got with conplete strangers. So many things to learn too like, cancel reload animation, cancel fall damage, mining technique, class specific tricks, pratical interaction etc. I'm still learning new thing from time to time. The cherry on top is that the community is the least toxic I have seen in my life or basically not toxic.
But it's ok if you didn't like it that much. Everyone have different taste. Rock and Stone!
I have something like 200-300 hours and i feel like i need to go deeper. There is so much gold to mine, so much bugs to shoot and so much beer to drink. Rock and stone! ⛏

DRG is easily THE greatest co-op action game I've ever played.
3 years and 1500 hours later, me and my ever growing group of dorf pals still deep dive into Hoxxes multiple times each week.
The DRG Soundtrack has acheived something for me I don't think any game soundtrack has since Minecraft; Play me a song from it, and I can instantly tell you that it's DRG music. Ask me to distinguish which is which with a gun to my head, and you'll have to pull the trigger. They all fit with each other SO well that you can always tell they're DRG music but can't tell them apart for the life of you.
I spent almost an entire year telling him to get off his ass and finish the video. And then I decided to contribute to the problem of why he wouldn't finish the video.
I love seeing people play DRG and reviewing it, especially smaller channels.
the armor system applies to nearly every insect in the game, which is technically impressive considering the amount of bugs the game has on screen during swarms

I'am addicted to this game ......Rock and Stone!
Although the caves are always unique, they are not 100% procedural. Technically the caves do use basic "cave shapes" that were made by the caves to generate the caves. However, the exact size, ore placement, proportions, locations, and arrangements are procedurally generated like you'd expect. The end result are caves that are not just a random mess of polygons, but are still unique everytime. The fact that most people can't even tell half the time goes to show how incrediably well the devs were able to pull this off.

It's worth another mention on how caring the devs are. The ONLY paid dlc is cosmetics. There're a good amount, and they're honestly worth the purchase, but you'll never feel like you need them to look good. The in game cosmetics deffs pull their own weight and it's clear that the devs only want you to buy the dlc if you wish to support the game. They even use the structure of a battle pass with enough cosmetics and goodies that would normally see a paywall, yet it's not only completely free, but every item in the battle pass is then added into the game's overall loot pool. The fact that they forwent not just a paywall on a battle pass, but the idea of FOMO (fear of missing out) not being in a game is boggling with what some developers will do nowadays. I've been with this game since the main hub room was a simple low poly room that was 'good enough' so players could still play the game and test it out and such. They've shown nothing but care and compassion since day 1, adding even little details just for the community. During escort, the robot head of the drill you follow in a certain mission type flies off of the machine when you succeed. Players were already fond of Molly, so they also loved the new drill bot Dottie, so players began to take it upon themselves to carry her head all the way back to the dropship. Now today, not only does Dotti's head get automatically put into the drop ship if you bring it, but you'll then see the head after the mission in the area hub. It's little details like that that show that Ghost Ship aren't a group of developers run by a corporation, but a group of game loving nerds that just wanna make others happy with their art!

Good video, albeit incorrect in some parts. DRG is NOT truly procedurally generated as it selects pre built cave rooms then generates routes between them. I do not know how you have not noticed this as it becomes pretty obvious with extensive play

The fun part about the classes is the fact that they are all perfectly capable on their own, everyone can do every thing well but each class specializes in one thing their REALLY good at,
Do it avoids the scenario of: “fuck, we don’t have X, looks like we can’t do Y.”
And is instead: “damn, Y would be so much easier if X were here”

Unfortunately, I wouldnt, my pc is dead, wouldve been at a good thousand hours in this game by now tho if it wasnt... so yeah, I'd say DRG is a good time, would recommend.

Engineer can do everything but as soon as one task requires more attention than shooting a platform he starts to fumble his duties. Best class for green beards, but anyone else would rather see a grey beard scout or gunner because with them the problems, be it important bugs or crowds of enemies are hardly ever seen
Grey beard drillers only gain the ability to wipe the entire difficulty of the caves away and can cover a gunner or scouts ass when he’s not doing his job.
Grey beard engies? Don’t really improve much from green beard engies aside from actually being knowledgeable about their kit. While I welcome green and grey beards alike, it becomes a problem when 90% of players step into your lobby to auto lock engie and then leave as soon as it gets difficult.
I have the same with scout, thinking they Knox anything because they played that one class until golden except they don't, no teams work, no brain, gunner is the green class (both way) a good engi not playing 2/3 of his eventory is still a better member for the team that those failure of scout.
Scouts who think they’re hot shit are bad, but at least they can do their job without relying on everyone else to pick up their slack, and their adeptness at being a grapple hook ambulance will always make me welcome to any scout…. Who isn’t playing to speed run and leave, but a scout who’s there for the team? They’re the best friend a driller can have.
bros sleeping on stubby meanwhile it has crazy unstable OCs, fire rate and damage higher then the minigun with EM refire booster, range that the loki can only dream about(or take super range mod but then you cant lock onto anything) with hyperalloy, or undepletable ammo bags(loki's drooling) with the balanced ammo OC.

the caves are handmade actually, they just have some parts inside that are randomized and they are linked randomly and sometimes even overlap which leads to "interesting" (hilariously hard to navigate) levels, it's not just an AI making caves from scratch like minecraft which uses (or used i havent checked in a while) perlin noise or perlin worms or whatever random algorithm, the caves in deeprock are designed by humans, then assembled and linked randomly

@@dukem8774 they dont use simple tiling like minecraft, they probably use something like Marching cubes, you can look it up, Sebastian Lague actually made a video about it (if you didn't know about Sebastian Lague, you're welcome)

I will say that you are most likely to see repeated caves on the minehead missions (gathering/refining) in my limited experience

Let's agree, the worst players really only know one class, and 9/10 is scout, there will always be mistakes from everyone, but it seems that scout players have an inability to understand that their greatest advantage is their mobility and ability to transport resources.
