Been pondering the same thing. I think I've figured it out. It's the people we don't see in public but exist in the houses we drive by, which they never leave. I work EMS/fire and you'd be surprised at the amount of ppl who live in these houses we unknowingly pass by, that are in miserable conditions (on their own accord usually). We just don't see them in our daily "out and about". They hoard pets, pet crates, and fill their house til they can barely walk. And of course poo, etc. all over the floor. They're the ones disliking these 10/10 videos. All of um

His and Clarence Ashley's versions are undoubtedly the best. They gave music so much heart and soul, they were in my opinion two of the best folk/bluegrass players ever to walk the Earth. They may not have had the fastest or fanciest picking but the soul they gave this song alone tops all of the music we listen to today.

My college roommates turned me on to Doc Watson (we even named our dog "Doc"). We went to one of his small venue concerts in Miami in the 70s. Then, when I was teaching English at a binational center in Bucaramanga, Colombia, David Holt came to give a concert sponsored by the embassy. I had the honor and privilege of sharing my apartment with him and his family for a few days (he loved the city and wanted to stay longer). He gave me and the center a banjo (I don't know what happened to it--I wish I still had it), and I learned to play it a little as I knew some guitar, tiple, and cuatro (ukulele). What a great guy and awesome musician.

Cheeks as red as a bloomin' rose and eyes as the prettiest brown
She's the darlin' of my heart, sweetest little girl in town
I wish I had a glass of wine and bread and meat for two
I'd set it out on a golden plate and I'd give it all to you
Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say
Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away
    (Banjo solo)
When I was a little boy I wanted a Barlow knife
And now I want little Shady Grove to say she'll be my wife
A kiss from pretty little Shady Grove is sweet as brandy wine
Ain't no girl in this whole world that's prettier than mine
Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say
Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away
    (Guitar solo)
There's peaches in the summer-time, apples in the fall
If I can't have little Shady Grove, I don't want no gal at all
I went to see my Shady Grove, she was standing in the door
Shoes and stockings in her hands, and her little bare feet on the floor
Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say
Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away
    (breakdown)
I wish I had me a big ol' horse and grain to feed him on
And little Shady Grove to stay at home and feed him while I'm gone
I wish I had me a needle and thread, as fine as I can sew
I'd sew my pretty gal to my side, and down the road we'd go
Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say
Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away
