I think the magma just stops at one point and the music just keeps playing in loop until you open the pumps.

@@GxPro66you are correct. I stayed in biodome watchtower and the music looped before the people did the pumps (the magma stopped rising)
don't go into the caves while this is happening, it's not worth it.
