I know what you mean, Todd. We are lucky that we don’t have biting flies here. We were in Australia years ago and they had huge biting flies and you are so right. They drove us off the beach. 😳 I don’t mind the heat. I just can’t take the humidity. That’s why most the time here in Palm Springs 120° is actually pretty pleasant. But just 25% humidity and a miserable humidity really does make a huge difference. Sorry you have to deal with that. 🥵
The hotest temperature place I lived at was Las Vegas 117°. I think since I've been gone over a decade ago, it's reached 118 or 119°. Almost 20 degrees above the mercury mark. It is at higher elevation than Palm Springs. But living in a region like that. You pray your A/C doesn't break down.
Hi Welles, that is definitely the downside of swimming pools in the south side of Palm Springs. Quite often they are too hot to even use the summer. Since we are in the windy area in the northern part of town, our pools are always pretty cool and refreshing. The problem is there are too cold to use in the winter and spring when everyone in South Palm Springs is enjoying their pools! 😎👍
I know now that certain patterns attract bees as well. I have worn a couple of Summer dresses with flowers on them, and the bees have come right up to me thinking I have flowers around me, lol. It even happened once with a hummingbird...
I thought of you when I saw the temperature there!! Staying cool I see. Love hearing updates from you. And your welcome for the power from Washington State. lolol
I had a swarm of bees after me several years ago. I was wearing a floral top and had sprayed on cologne. Never even thought how that would make me a magnet for bees. Deodorant or bright colors might attract them or maybe certain beverages.
Thanks for the tip, Europa. Someone else just left a very similar comment. That never even occurred to me, but now that you mentioned it, it makes sense. 😳👍

Personally i would welcome some sun and heat as it's been grey, raining and chilly here in England for the last two days.
Omg, the heat is lovely enough for everyone. Surprisingly many Europeans seem to love Palm Springs in the summer and our summer. Just keep getting busier and busier with European tourists. 🥵😎👍
Wow! 124. 😮 The hottest 🔥 🔥 🥵 it's ever been here officially is 107. That is bad enough. It's interesting how cold 🥶 your winters can get. Did not know that. I hope your pool doesn't leak. But stuff gets old. Keep cool 😎 I love your hat. 😃 And why is the official site for tempatures at our airport 🛫 🛬 No one lives there. 🤷♀️
One correction. The low temperatures in the winter NEVER get to 20 degrees. I've lived here for decades. In 2006, we had a morning low of 29 once. It has never been that cold since then. With climate change and global warming now, it rarely ever drops below 40 in the winter and never gets below around 37. We may have one or two mornings in December or January where it drops to the upper 30s. While our mountains get occasional snow (and even that has fallen off dramatically in recent years), it hasn't snowed on the Coachella Valley floor since the 1970s and even then it was just a light coating.
Hi Rob, I forgot to mention that our pipes actually froze one winter here in Palm Springs. I haven’t really been paying attention to how low it gets the in recent years. Thanks for the update. 👍
It was so hot in palm springs Jim saw a chicken lay an omelet. It was so hot the bread Steve bought at Walmart was toast when he got home. 😂 I know keep my day job.
The bees may be after water. They're also attracted to yellow. They might think you're a big flower with that yellow hat. Wear black or red. Red appears black to bees.
How's Jim's chin? I hate the heat. It triggers my mother's asthma and my niece and I are prone to getting overheated ans sick. Can't wait for more vids!!❤
I'm here in Indio! Super hot. I was going to try to go to the drone show Friday night. But too damn hot. Lots of dead bees in my pool every morning. Thank god I have a pool.
I knew it would get to 120+! I hate it here. I moved with here with my grandparent because this is my Grandpas favorite place and I look after him and my Grandma. I'm originally from Nevada (near Vegas) but I've lived in Montana,Oregon and New York and I hate it here. I sweat constantly and everything is far too expensive and if I had the money and wasn't worried about my grandparents I would 100% move to a more reasonable climate.
Sorry, spooky. You are doing an awesome thing by taking care of your grandparent. Hopefully you have air-conditioning and you can find a pool to jump into once in a while to cool down! 😎👍
Hi Don, I really enjoyed their channel and yes, I was in Provincetown once back in the 1980s! If I ever take another road trip back to the East Coast, I will definitely visit P town again! 😄👍

I did a ten mile hike in Israel, in my early twenties, in that kind of weather. I was on Kibbutz. I found out how hot it had been at the end of the day - it had gone just above 127. That explained the Canadien hikers passing out. But it was the driest heat you ever experienced - the area around the Dead Sea is mostly salt. So probably below 3% humidity. Still, not bad eh?
Hi Diane, wow!! You definitely have us beat! I agree that when there is no humidity or very low humidity the extreme heat really doesn’t feel all that bad. It’s the humidity that gets me. Thanks for sharing that memory with us. 😎👍

Wow that's wild ❤❤❤😢😢😢😮😮😮
It sure seems like the ozone has really went away. Keep safe in that desert heat. Here in SW Washington, it got 103°. That's very warm here.
Yikes, that is warm for your area. Thanks for sharing and I hope you stay cool too Tawanda. 🥵😎👍
Wow!
107 it’s almost like winter weather for us lol! 😂 I agree, what’s the deal with the weather being measured at the airport? 🙃😎👍
stay safe and stay hydrated...your weather would be way too hot for this fog loving San Francisco native
lol it is dramatically different up. There isn’t it? When we were there last week I felt like we had somehow been transported back to winter! 😳😆👍
wow 124 thats sizzling hot, luv the pineapple floatie
Thanks cath!
It was so hot in palm springs Jim saw a chicken lay an omelet. It was so hot the bread Steve bought at Walmart was toast when he got home. 😂 I know keep my day job.
lol you are hilarious Dana! 😂 Thanks for the laughs as always! 😆👍
Yeow...i feel bad we are suppose to to get to be 103...stay cool
You too, Lisa 😎👍
Wow. That’s Hot
We need our bees. Maybe they are attracted to the yellow color? It’s hot here in Az🌵
I think you’re right Dianne and as long as they don’t sting me, they are welcome! 😎👍
@@theretiredlifewithsteve 🐝
The bees may be after water. They're also attracted to yellow. They might think you're a big flower with that yellow hat. Wear black or red. Red appears black to bees.
Hi Ernest, thank you for the suggestion. I have lots of yellow hats and clothes and towels, so that probably explains it! 😳😲🤪
How's Jim's chin? I hate the heat. It triggers my mother's asthma and my niece and I are prone to getting overheated ans sick. Can't wait for more vids!!❤
Hi d, I didn’t know there was anything wrong with Jim’s chin. Maybe he had food on it in a previous video? I hope you guys are able to stay cool. 🥵😎👍
@@theretiredlifewithsteve thank you! As far as his chin, it looked bruised to me in the golf cart video. Could have just been a shadow
I'm here in Indio! Super hot. I was going to try to go to the drone show Friday night. But too damn hot. Lots of dead bees in my pool every morning. Thank god I have a pool.
Sorry you are melting too P! And yes, we are very lucky to have pools to keep us cool. Thanks for watching. 😎👍
Its nice to see local content! Love your channel. I have been itching to start a channel of my own.
Well, you don't have to worry about the heat...you're cool!
lol as long as I stay in the pool! 😎👍
I just noticed that you had commented on the inndaddies Channel have you ever been to Provincetown ?
Hi Don, I really enjoyed their channel and yes, I was in Provincetown once back in the 1980s! If I ever take another road trip back to the East Coast, I will definitely visit P town again! 😄👍
I am outside Washington, DC. Today with the heat index will be 112° F. I have melted so just a heads up!
Do NOT be mean to honey bees. You will be complaining when you cannot get fruit and vegetables. ♥️🎉☘️
BATHTUB WATER!
Yikes, I hope you are able to stay cool today! I would never be mean to a honeybee, but I would be very happy if they found someone else’s pool to hang around instead of ours lol. 😄👍
Wow Steve you be careful lol my skin is fair I burn easy!! Cooler days are coming hopefully! 🙄👍💦🌞
You too, Linda let’s hope so! 🥵
Call a beekeeper, they will find the hive and take it.❤ I heard it was 125 degrees yesterday😱
Thanks for the suggestion, Denise 👍
@@theretiredlifewithsteve the humidity gets everyone, and you handle it much better than I do. Youth really is wasted on the young. 😁
You mentioned the bees and I noticed you're wearing a bright yellow hat. Bees are attracted to yellow so switch out the hat!
Hi cs, that just never occurred to me until a few other viewers mention the same thing. No more yellow hats or yellow towels by the pool. 😳😲
A dreadful record to break. So sorry. Hope you're staying cool and comfortable.
Thanks 1, the pool really helps a lot! 😎👍
Wow that is extremely a very hot my mothers in Law in Joshua Tree even though it’s up higher elevation but it’s warm there to stay safe
Thanks Danette 😎👍
@@theretiredlifewithsteve you’re welcome she’s always told me that when living in the desert she plans her days for shopping and being back home before noon then going out in the evening time for dinner or shopping I would do this if we lived there
The heat and I dont get along...I love my central air. .
lol we love ours too! 😄👍
Ooh...that is way too long for any parade!
lol I know, right? And apparently years ago, it used to be 5 to 6 hours long. It’s now considered pretty short in comparison. 😳😆👍
What electrolytes do you use?
Powerade Zero
@@theretiredlifewithsteve OK thank you I’m always trying to get ideas for electrolytes living in Florida like living in Palm Springs a gets hot. I usually drink Gatorade and I just can’t do the zero that has 60 cal that I like. Gatorade lyte
