I've got my polo fresh 4 days ago. Yes the engine is a bit underpowered but at least I could push the consumption down to 4,4 to 4,6 l/km. I'm almost happy with it
That's the only merit for polo's they do drive nice but that's it apart from that probably one of the worst hatchbacks on the market. And this gen pre face-lift vs post face-lift the new one feels horrible inside VW could not wait to cost cut this car like with the mk8 golf because there cheap . Plus All VAG cars what they do is make it feel nice on the face of it and drive but inside it just the cheapest parts they can find . Finally that engine the 1.0 mpi and tsi is also I've mentioned before is definitely the worst 3cyl engine on the market again cost cutting all other manufacturers use a timing chain on there 3cyl engines But VW a timing Belt so after 4 years they can rip you off
@@DonceBeats you won't be yawning when it breaks down . My 1st car when I started being a mechanic was a VW Approved Used 2006 Polo 1.2 S with just under 40k and was 3 years old . Here what broke on it the water pump 3 months after buying it . Then the HVAC system just gave up then when I was on my home in the dark on the motorway both headlights Failed luckily it was a quiet night . Problem was the wiring loom plastic just decayed and shorted the electrics on a car that was 4.5 years old with only 14k extra on the clock was a joke .
Not only the car is beautiful, but also the landscapes are quite impressive! I live in Brazil and really enjoyed this ride with you, hope one day I can get to know Europe!

This example with the MPI engine does not really sell good. Most are the 1.0 TSI (turbo) with 95 hp and enough torque. The GTI sells quite good because you get 200bhp and a semi-small car for a decent price.
@@danielfl.9347 The 95hp has one huge failure, the missing 6th gear. Therefor they are almost more rare than this "cheap" version here in Denmark. 98% of the Polo's here are the 110 hp version. Price-difference is only 1500 euro. :)
I would like to make a criticism. I think it would have been more interesting if you kept the main display with the rev counter on it... Just to have an idea of which ranges the engine needs to be when you travel on high speed roads. Beautiful everyday-use car and great video though
@@Pertev777 yeah. That’s one thing I wish I could add on my polo (A 6th gear). I do a fair bit of motorway driving and will be doing more in the future and it feels bad having the engine constantly in the mid 3000s for that length of time when going at 70mph (120kph - approx). Of course most people don’t stick to 70 mph so you find yourself having to go nearer to 80 (128 kph) to keep at the same speed as the other traffic. At that point (And since it’s a 3 cylinder), you can definitely hear the a bit of engine noise over the road noise. I know it’s a small car and it only has 80hp (Or 95 for the turbo models) but it would’ve been a good idea for them to have a 6th gear that would sit at 2000 rpm at motorway speeds. It would be a useless gear anywhere other than flat/downhill sections of motorway but it would surely be better for comfort and fuel economy not to be in the mid 3000s at motorway speeds 🤷🏻♂️ Still a brilliant car. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I see lot’s of negative views over this car... it’s not a Bentley or a Rolls Royce, so what do you expect. I also don’t really get how the interior is “not nice”. Maybe some people just need to wake up a bit and see some nice sides of things. But I don’t know, maybe some people like very different kind of designs, but if you like this kind of design, I don’t know why so many people complain. I’m very surprised to see so many negative views on this car, I thought it will be a bestseller and people will be obsessed, I’m not sure what people want these days. Hi Joe, good demo as usual, couldn't help but notice the engine bogged down on the faster gear changes and the sound of that engine good grief, and for those who say it sounds like a 6 cylinder it doesn't, a 3 cylinder 2 stroke sounds like a 6. Nice drive Joe as smooth as you could given that engine, thank you.
The engine in this car is what I call a "lawnmower" - it's noisy like a lawnmower, it sounds like a lawnmower and it has the (lack of) power of a lawnmower
The engine only has 93nm with peak power made at 6300rpm, so it has to scream to get anything out of it. Though it will likely never break, no turbo, no direct fuel injection and less than half the torque available than what the most powerful 1.0 TSI produces
yaris as a toyota barely survives in reliability even in the new ones but still they are horrible compared to old toyotas they have trillions of damages too in the new ones the old ones were indestructible but VW has gone horribly crap but the new yaris in appearence is godawful while the polo still holds on in a reasonable shape so i would go with the polo but the yaris is a bit cheaper it comes 16k the default version and the polo is 17k but i would not buy the yaris because it's shitty appearence so no like the old polos they were decent so i would personally say the polo is better in appearence in my personal opinion in reliability yaris

You clearly have false information. VW makes excellent and reliable cars. The new Yaris looks like shit, compared to the Polo piece and has unreliable engine. 1.0 is not a good choice for this reason either. Normal atmospheric 1.6 consumes no more, but they run 5 times longer and taxes will be the same)

Kia doesn't offer 1.4 engine anymore, also the basic one has halogen headlamps, no infotainment system etc. Comparably equipped Ceed is more expensive.

I love the Polo! Wish we had these here in the States. If they sold it here, I’m sure I would have had a Polo GTI at one point or another.

At 100 kmh, the engine does 3100-3200 rpm.
A bit high, wish it could be under 3000.

I have a polo 1.4 tdi with 70 hp but 144lb ft of torque it pulls at 30mph in 4th and really good on the motorway just under 2000 rpm at 70 mph

Because its not turbocharged unlike 1.0 tsi 95 variant, which means in order to achieve 80hp you need to reach the redzone.
