There’s something so funny about the legion yelling “die profligate” at a fucking fly.
well there is just something funny about a whole army taking on one fly in combat🤣
It’s a pro"fly"git lol
The worst mistake a new player can make is see the legendary bloatfly and say "This'll be a piece of cake!"
I'm starting to think the Holy Frag Grenades weren't the only Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference in this game.
It’s also a big f you to melee builds
So true...
This was a piece of cake.
And it is
Gotta respect that lone NCR soldier that runs out of ammo and as a last desperate attempt grabs his knife and charges towards the enemy.
NCR and proud!
Motherfucker pulled out behavior that would be expected from Cadians
What you find praise worthy of the NCR is what is expected as a minimum in the legion
@@vivechjorviani5440there's a big difference between someone who was conscripted with minimal training and equipment and what's essentially a brainwashed soldier raised only to kill
"Give this man a raise."
"DIe, profligate," proclaims the Legionary.
The bloatfly, unlearned in the language of English, ignores the request with vigour.
Head empty
The bloatfly: 1 inteligence
The legionary: 1 charisma
Now imagine if it could aim I bet it could beat up to 50 of any faction
dont give the fly ideas, his myopia is the only thing keepin it in check XD
Terrible aim is great Vs a courier who’s gonna try and dodge and weave, terrible against a spread out firing squad that XD
You try shooting maggots out of your ass and have good aim xD
@@june9914yea about to say it looks bad but when your fighting the fly is shooting a path way that most players do when getting smoked 😂
The dude at 2:30 was... I mean, the fact that he survived past all the others, the fact that he kept shooting for as long as he did, and then that... horrible scream as he gooified. That was pretty haunting

Im surprised how poorly the NCR did. They did get unlucky with that Meltdown explosion though. I didnt even know the legendary bloatfly HAD that perk. Still learning something about New Vegas even after all this time.
Right?? This game is incredible really
Ncrs poor performance is weird to me cause ive literally already watched a video on troopers against this thing and 6 took it out with 3 troops to spare. So im not sure if the hill is throwing the ai aim off or if they got mods installed or what but that battle shouldnt have needed 25 people that doesnt make sense to me xD
Martius is the channel that did the 6 troopers against the bloatfly btw.
@@masonlaw7628
I think it was the poor choice of weaponry that did them in, especially the Rangers that for some reason spawned with cowboy repeaters instead of their Ranger Sequoias. I also saw a few BOS Knights with what looked like assault rifles from Fallout 3 instead of all laser weaponry like they usually do.
Edit: I just watched Martius' video and it looked like that legendary bloatfly was firing considerably slower than in this video. Thats probably why they performed so badly here.
@@masonlaw7628 Martius has a mod that increases the damage of guns
It's so interesting to watch the different tactics that the different factions and ranks use. The Legion seems to try to throw their bulk up front with pincer riflemen on each flank, the NCR seems to stick as a unit but spread out, while the NCR rangers show their fearlessness by walking directly towards the target. You can see the arrogance of the brotherhood on display by the fact that they just march directly at the enemy, as though they have no respect for how deadly it is, even still, they tend to march forward in a pyramid formation. The Enclave is the really interesting one, they almost use all the tactics combined. They start by spreading out into squads literally as the fight breaks out, have one squad charge in, with two squads on their flanks to create a much larger pyramid shape, then collectively as a group they all march towards the target.
Honestly I wonder how much of this was by design and now much of this was a "ghost in the machine" moment where the AI behaves in a way that was not explicitly programmed.
I really have to agree with this evaluation here, the tactics displayed by each factions soldiers (and sub devisions of) really portray the overall views of the leader and the type of people they are. Legion is simple but uses strength in numbers to divide and conquer, NCR manoeuvres like a conventional army (rangers act too cocky though), BoS show an unparalleled sense of superiority and the Enclave work like a mix of NCR standard army tactics and BoS arrogance
I think the developers did it on purpose, they put a lot of time into developing the factions for NV it makes sense they would go as far as to make their soldiers portray the nature of each faction
Joshua Sawyer probably had a hand in that tbh. A lot of love went into NV and it shows with little details like these.
I would've thought the rangers would be more sniper focused. But I could be wrong.
@@spaceletsgothere8906 That would be more fitting for 1st recon. Rangers in general are Special forces, their tactics are unconventional and even risky at times and will not always follow the strategy of the main military force. Just look how the Rangers are being used in New Vegas, they're usually sent into deep enemy territory to either do recon or assassinate key targets for this case someone like Motor Runner the leader of the fiends, or even in the first Battle of Hoover dam where Rangers were used to redirect the legion forces away from the dam to the trap they laid out in boulder city. Another good example is in the climax of the NCR ending where Veteran Rangers are flexible enough to either charge in for a frontal assault with the Courier or stay back and provide sniper fire.
So all in all they're rangers, and rangers lead the way.
The ncr marches toward the enemy its fearlessness but the brotherhood does it its arrogance? Lol guess we know who you’re biased for
I wanted to see Mr.House's Securitron army take on the Legendary Bloatfly.
Without, and with the PC upgrade.
@@benjaminoechsli1941With the PC upgrade I would say it wwould only take 3-5 securitons but without it would easily go 15 securitons.
@@jamescawl6904you say that, but the missiles are probably as fast as the plasma globs and short of overwhelming Firepower they're just not that likely to hit
@@JimmyEatDirt the securitrons wwith the PC upgrade are very erratic and aggressive they could survive long enough to take out the legendary bloatfly.
With the mod that unfucks the securitron AI and gives a massive lore-accurate boost to robot damage and durability. I’m gonna say two, maybe even one.
Ceasar's Legion is literally my favorite enemy in the game to battle next to Nightstalkers. A lot of enemies, NCR included, will simply bum rush you or direct themselves toward you in a rather straight forward manner. Even a gang of vipers with melee/ranged will have no tactical approach toward you. The Legion death squads though? Youll have one or two centurions with extreme DT rushing you with power hammers while simultaneously trying to take cover against frumentarii types sniping you with lever actions and anti material rifles if your high enough level. That excitement of avoiding high damage melee and ranged against multiple opponent might only be found in Jacobstown or Black Mountain lol
I love how an entire army is getting totally owned by a single fucking fly🤣
I totally underestimated this bloatfly when I first encountered it in my last playthrough. I was scared shitless from the immense power in such a tiny life form
They’re larger than humans, too be fair.
Normal bloatflies are small, but I'm fairly certain this particular bloatfly is the largest creature in the game, so not exactly a tiny life form. Still easy to underestimate considering the bloatfly track record
Where is it located?

You've got to respect the Legion. Their ordinary troops are terrible, but their tactics are impeccable to the point that -- by the time they finally earn powerful weaponry and armour -- they're already able to kill what an army of Enclave soldiers struggle with with just javellins and rifles.
A javelins is not penetrating x01 power armor
Overwhelming target with expendable fodders is not a tactic. It's just a brute force.

I wonder if the devs ever thought about making it so that the Legendary Bloatfly's shots hit with the explosion effect of a plasma grenade but then had to tone it down due to the damage.
Someone likely thought that at the very beginning of making it and immediately were like no that would be far too overpowered. Really almost nothing would beat that.
@@mrvoorhees96 Certainly if it held the same damage as the current plasma shots, oh yeah, that'd be far too overpowered. But I'm honestly surprised no one's made a mod for that. Then again, why the hell would they?

I thought when the NCR Rangers came in it was gonna be easy for them because they usually have Guns Cambered in something like .44 Mag or .45-70 Govt. I however did not realize that they would RUN RIGHT UP TO THE FLY.
TBH that was the downfall of a lot of them, "I have a ranged weapon so I'm gonna stand right Under it". Could be the lack of advanced AI in the game, because in Fallout 4 Everyone takes cover. Still, I knew the Enclave was gonna win in the end, but that Big battle at the end had me excited. 10/10 -IGN would watch again.
All of them had the .357 repeater which is an early game weapon..
I find it weird how many units with ranged weaponry apparently have an AI that is designed to make them walk up close to the enemy. Especially the fact that 'basic' NCR infantry are smart enough to stay at range but elite NCR rangers are among the ones that decide they want to get close and personal despite carrying rifles.
Maybe it’s a quirk of how they’re stationed? Elite units aren’t often in big outdoor settings so they probably aren’t programmed two keep reasonable distance against outdoors enemies
Yes this is true, Patrol Rangers have retard advance AI, troopers and Ranger Vets dont.
@@june9914 Honestly I think they were moving into better effective range for the weapons they had and their AI aggressiveness and the Bloatfly ate alive guys as they got closer

well then that's just a regular day being in the Russian army then that's normal for them to have losses like that or more from an enemy they are assaulting🥰🥰
What really threatens me about the Legion isn't their ideals, but how feverishly they will fight for them-- Caesar doesn't simply conquer and integrate tribes, he has unlocked the classic template of a true-blue slave soldier who will die in combat simply because they were told. It doesn't matter how unlikely their odds of success or survival are, because they will March forward and attack with the same level of commitment and fury regardless. _That_ makes them hell'a dangerous. They fight like men with nothing left to lose.
Because they are men with nothing to lose

tbh the enclave had a obvoius advantage of not having a 'recruit' of sorts, since its yah know, like 5 people in fnv, even then the legion tied them with american football gear and spears, and a few odd balistic weapons
I was so surprised with the absolute TANK of this enemy at level 48.
I noticed two things about the Enclave. They spread apart to avoid friendly fire and I saw a few take cover behind the rock.
I think the BoS would have done way better of some of the lasers didn't clip through and do no dmg

Legion had the luck that the Fly missed 100 shots, smh.
Nah, Legion is just better.

NCR: needed 2.5 tiers to kill it, and i think the heavy's really turned the tide.
BoS: also needed 2.5 tiers but like the NCR had many more survivors. also the A.I is stupid for just... walking into it.

The ncr veterans died first and died very fast leaving the troopers and there inferior weapons left alive.
The legion was the opposite; the fodder recruits charged first and died first, buying time for the veterans also armed with guns to do more damage. If i'm not mistaken the legendary bloatfly has such a his damage threshold that most of the NCR's .223 shots probably aren't even doing any damage.
His DT is 20 so yeah most of the damage was mitigated, part of the reason the BoS didn't really do anything until the Gauss Rifles came out.

The NCR might have done better if you'd skipped the Rangers and just kept tossing more troopers at it. The Troopers die in one hit most of the time like the Rangers but they live longer than the Rangers by far due to them staying at a distance and spreading out. It's interesting to see how the Legion's tactics benefit it most against a powerful--yet inaccurate--foe. By forming ranks according to loadout and hierarchy, they encircle the single foe and minimize losses. The NCR keeps its distance (except the Rangers) but tends to hunker down in tight groups, providing larger single targets. BoS and Enclave both approach the target and attempt to overwhelm with shock tactics. Shown here the Enclave might benefit from a quick flanking maneuver, but the primary advantage is probably superior weaponry.
I find it super funny that THIS FLY > everything else the Courier fights
War. War never chang- Hey wait! Are you guys actually walking in tight formation directly towards the fast-shooting, extremely deadly enemy?
War has changed.
This really shows how much AI and tactics matter.
The legion has shitty equipment, but the way they made a bulk advance in the front aa they shot with rifles from the flanks, creating a pincer, really made a difference… instead, the BoS wasted their enormous firepower potential by advancing straight to the botfly’s face, all in very tight ranks.
Next time I’d like to see the experiment repeated, but using just one type of unit, so we can see how many it takes!
This seems like a footage of a fallout 76 server taking down a Scorch beast
