Looks like the suncaster would work well in dry stuff, I do like the design that allows you to use both arms to push it. I also like the tapered design of the green shovel that creates a single wind row instead of two like a normal snow shovel. I'm in northwest Illinois, we got about 8" of snow a couple weeks ago then it rained on it right at the end of the storm- took me about an hour and a half just to clear my small deck and a small section of my driveway with a shovel then spent over two hours to clear my parents driveway with their auger fed snow blower...last week we had a little ice/sleet storm so now everything that wasn't cleared is a miserable frozen slush with no thaw in sight. Come on April, lol.
With a dry snow this thing would slay. It worked good the other time I used it, but 1 out of 2 isn't great. Haven't had enough snow to really get a good feel yet.

I mean, you don't wait until that heavy stuff has accumulated that much and then go out and try to use it. I live in Newfoundland, and we get heavy, disgusting snow. And tons of it. This is an awesome shovel to have when conditions suit it.
It was the first snow and I was eager to try it out. I don't hate the shovel, but for my applications it does not work as good as my other green EZ Shovel. If my sidewalks were all level it would be great, but with the swivel at the bottom when you try to pick it up to lift over a raised section of sidewalk the face wants to go down and you have to swing it back up. With the EZ shovel you just lift it up over the raised section. I also have a gravel driveway. If I had a asphalt or concrete driveway this tool would be my go to tool to remove snow. We have not had any significant snow here in Indiana for me to test the tool again.
@@woodnyardjunkie yea but go out half way as its falling. Don't wait till it's done... I can look at the thing and see it's limitations. Would you use a wrench to drill a hole then say the wrench sucks? A hammer to turn a screw, and then say the hammer sucks?
Wet snow is just a bummer. No shovel, plow or ?? does well with the wet stuff. Technique is the idea with this tool. When it's 28 or lower, this is much easier. Likewise taking smaller bites helps alot like starting on the end of the run, clear 10' and then start backing up in 10-15' chunks. It's all about eating the elephant one bite at a time. Otherwise - bring out the dual stage show blower and let the engine do all the work.
My concern with this shovel is the nose dive it take when encountering anything not level. It will hit a chunk of ice and take a nose dive. I will come up with a mod for the problem.
Small bites are harder with a narrow sidewalk. If I had a paved driveway it would be easier to take bites, but I bought it to push through the snow to the side on my sidewalks. It's made to cast snow like a plow. I did try small bites at the my bottom sidewalk, as it's wider than my other sidewalks, but it was just collecting in front of the blade. The other green shovel in the video has the same angle and pushed the wet snow to the side with no problem. I did use it this week in more powdery snow and it worked great. The $130 price tag is still too spicy for it's limitations. Just my opinion.
The 70SNC is a beefy commercial snow removal tool that easily does the job of clearing a long driveway plus saves your back! No lifting snow - just pushing it aside. @TheSnowcaster. You've gotta see this with your own eyes. :)

No pusher is gonna push 6 plus inches of half slush like a breeze, unless it's a dense metal blade with a rubber cutting edge to assist you with pushing force. If you cut that storm in half, you're done in 2 minutes each pass. Even a plow truck is going to have a harder time pushing a foot plus of wet snow compared to 6 inches per push 🤷♂️ That's why in blizzards we go out while the snow is still falling instead of waiting til the end ( especially if we know it's wet ). Snowcaster is definitely not a fail. Different tools for different circumstances. On top of that, it looks like that green pusher isn't as wide as the Sc, so you're pushing less snow. I was looking to see you put them next to each other, but judging by the width of those walks, I'd say it's narrower. Oh well, each his own. If I'm doing multiple sites of wet snow, I'm throwing my 2 stage snowblower into the truck anyway, not my snowcaster 😂
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power it snowed all at once before I got out to shovel and was the 1st snow of winter so wanted to try it out. I'm not able to shovel 24/7 as it's snowing. Work....sleep...keep me from that🤣 One of my main complaints is when it hits ice, it buckles under itself. It is a common complaint for these. Everything has to be perfect to use it. I don't hate it but also don't think it's worth over $100.
@@woodnyardjunkie I hear you. I wouldn't say perfect conditions, but it does definitely shine in powder, and up to 4 inches of "mixed bag" snow. I've done small driveways of 5 to 6 inches of hell slush/snow/ice with my first 36, but it beats you up, and a regular shovel does cut better, but that's because it's smaller and undercuts in addition to pushing, but of course it's slower. Being that it's part of my profession, and having used it for.....sheesh....let's see if Amazon knows....Holy smokes, I bought the first one 7 years ago ( time is flying )... but having used it for 7 years, it's definitely worth it. By the time the Sc stops being advantageous, it's snowblower conditions anyway 😂🤷♂️ so it all works together. Being a business owner, I'll say, the more walks and driveways you have to cover, the Sc is definitely worth the money, business or homeowner. Oh, I will also add, the bigger you go, the more she picks up, the less effective she is. I made the mistake of buying a 48 and I only use that for my driveway and backlot 🤣 That rarely goes on my route with me. The 36 inch is definitely the sweet spot, good for sidewalks and driveways, and I can use it more efficiently in deeper snow.

Just like I use more than one axe for certain occasions when splitting wood. They all have their place. This is my second season with the Snowcaster and it has not seen much action. I made another video of it in action and it did much better when I was home and able to shovel every 1hr.

My technique is just fine. This snow pusher is meant for light snow and perfect sidewalks and driveways. If I had those things, it might be worth it, but my sidewalks aren't perfect, and my driveway is rock. This thing could also be built a little heavier and sturdier. It's kinda flimsy for a $100+ shovel. We are not all built the same, and some men can push heavier amounts of snow. I think you're just trying to justify your new purchase and came across my video, and got upset. It's ok, not everyone is going to agree. I like the sandwich analogy. Did you come up with that all by yourself🤣

@@rmack9226 it's a snow shovel for shoveling snow..and it definitely has its limitations. For my applications the EZ shovel is the better option.
What good is $130+ on 70SNC if it can't pick up decent amount of snow? Might as well stick to a $50 snow shovel or get a used snow blower.

It was frustrating using it on my sidewalks. In perfect conditions, I think it would make quick work of things with little fatigue.

It's your Technique no one in Earth pushes that much wet snow in front of them unless you're a few sandwiches short of a picnic
