Been waiting for this review! Looking forward to get these, thanks Mike! Hope you’re doing well there.
Great video mike !! Patiently awaiting the arrival of cornerstone 😊
Top review as always Mike. I’m gonna give my jar a whirl over the next few days and hopefully have my thoughts up pretty soon. 👊🏻
Another awesome review Mike!
Love watching your video's!! Best out there...
Great review! I love the new American Gardens! It's one of those products that looks better the longer it's my hair and that rarely ever happens. My hair feels softer after a while too which is interesting. Amity is great too! I used it together last time
Do you have thick hair?
@@m.haddad4744 No, I have fine straight Asian hair
@@thesanshann ok thanks for the answer
Awesome review Mike 🙂👌🏼🍺
I just bought both of these Monday still waiting for them to ship I’ve heard good things about this brand
Look promising!
Hey Mike, great video! Do you have any plans on reviewing Root and Muddle Matte clay?
Shear revival 💥💥💥
I absolutely love Amity. I have mostly straight hair and today decided to prestyle with Amity as well as Hustle for some hold. For the blow-dryer I put on a defuser and ended up with some satisfying waves.
That Amity scent is 💰! Love mixing Amity with Grim Grease’s Matte Blend too.
SR’s my go to for SFW scents with performance
How's the Grim Grease Matte Blend? Like what's the shine level? I'm looking for natural shine or lower. Thanks
Tim Lin it’s actually a healthy shine for me. Like a notch or two above neutral. I’m honestly not sure why Francisco calls it “matte”? But it’s a top 3 product for me.
Their La Mano Peluda might actually have less shine though.
Great video Mike! I'm going to have wait for more online reviews to see if this can contend with my next pickup: the Firsthand Clay Pomade.
Just a note: 3:02 you mention it's a strong hold but it says light in the description.
yes thank you I'm aware of the typo. Nothing I can really do now haha videos published. I will just have to slow down next time.
Hi Mike, I'm looking to try something new. I find that Suavecito clay pomade is a little too oily for me and Lockhart's Transcend clay is on a different spectrum, but almost to sticky feeling for me. I'm looking for good volume and good hold without being too stiff. I'm open to suggestions. What would you recommend I try?
Hope ur well mike🙏🙏🙏
I got AG a month ago. The hold is pretty good and if you apply to damp hair you get a natural/dry sheen. If I put it in dry hair, it’s so dry that it ends up tugging and pulling at my hair. I ordered Moroccan Oil clay, going to compare with that.
Hey, how do Maroccan Oil clay compares with the American Gardens? I'm actually trying to choose between these two. My hair is thin and straight.
I’m between Amity or Black Water for new pre-styler...
I have the same volume loss with American Gardens. It's very dry and my hair stays in roughly the same shape, just a little deflated within an hour of application. After that, it stays the same the entire day. I also think that Zach from Shear Revival mostly doesn't care about the pomade vs. styling clay distinction, since so many contradictory products exist for each category.
It’s true there are contradictory ones out there and like I said I would have done the same in his position being as AG is such a widely known and loved clay. I’m just doing my part to try and get us to a point where the lines between clay and clay pomade are more defined. They absolutely should be imo because they both can offer very cool and different things.
How does it compare to firsthand supply clay pomade?
3:00 seems like you made a typo mike, AG is a very strong hold and it says "light hold"
Amity salt spray vs she-voo ocean spray? Any thoughts?
Love the video man
Also which watch were you wearing in the video?
It was a MVMT watch! I generally wear one from in my vids :)
Been mixing Amity with the northern lights matte paste and it's absolute 🔥🔥🔥
Been thinking about getting it. What type of hair do you have?
@@brownboii305 I have pretty thick hair. It's gives me some really nice control.
Love the vid mike. Anyway can u tell me the differences between a clay and a clay pomade
Clays generally have a matte finish and utilize the clays to perform their natural functions, which are to provide said matte finish, make dry texture, and volume. They can also provide some extra hold too and other things but that’s mainly the points of a clay. Clay pomades now on the other hand aren’t restricted to those attributes. They can blend the lines a little bit if they choose to. They can have a little texture, with a little gleam. They can have dryness with some shine. I basically look at it as clays are matte and clay pomades have some shine. Does that describe every single clay pomade? No but it does describe a lot of them. Look at the original American Gardens for example, it had a little shine to it but it also had some good texture and volume. Hope that helps.
Modern Man TV thank you mike
With my thick and dry hair, I’m afraid to use American Gardens as northern lights already puts a whoopin on me haha (I did watch the review in full, I’m just saying products always tug at me way more than they do in yours or TDM style is all). My dauntless grooming oil is coming in from lockharts sometime in the next week or two hopefully so I’m hoping hair tonics will take the grip factor a notch down. Been messing around with salon guy pure set and I think that has been helping with the tug somewhat.
Yeah smooth that dry hair out man! You will love how products work for you.
By any chance would you be looking at Harvest Moon by Faith and Integrity?
I don’t have any plans for that as of now.
Which hair styling products you prefer... And which your favourite brand..and what kind of hair styling products you use daily...take lots of love from my hearts core.. And i am from Bangladesh... ❤️
So can the amity spray be used on it's own without using a hair blower?
I’m sure it can! You won’t get 100% results like I showed here tho I don’t think.
What's that watch on your wrist? It looks so cool.
It’s by MVMT!
Tough to decide to try out American Gardens or Gray Ghost.
Just choose which is best for ehat style you're going for.
does AG crispy up when applied to damp hair? i love how you always go over this detail :P
Since it’s an ob pomade it didn’t for me. Usually stuff that is ob don’t have this issue, one of the positives behind that type of product!
@@MMTV tysm Mike :)
@@MMTV thanks mike, but this product is water (aloe) based no? does it still avoid a crunch sensation?
also, thanks for the mailroom barber stuff. i love their medium so excited to see you promote them and excited to see them expand as well
@@swing6670 ahhh you are right! I still had my mind set on when it was an ob clay. This was my first clay of that type that I tried so I totally forgot they changed it up. I’ll have to try it again to see but if it’s like other stuff that that, then I’d say yes it’s going to harden in damp hair depending on the level of dampness you have going on. Most everything does that.
@@MMTV my man, keep up the content. your reviews really are unique (and let us know if you ever revisit this one)
this is the best clay pomade i used
First, ding ding!
Great video as always xD
will you be reviewing the other samson haircare products
As of now they have chosen not to send them.
@@MMTV ok hope you can try them out soon
weird.. the Amity we got in Asia had a different spray nozzle traditionally found on spray cleaner
We get the trigger style spray nozzle too. I think the bottle he got was maybe a tester bottle cause Matt on TDM Style had the same pump sprayer but the bottle I got has the trigger spray.
No idea about that, the one I got is the one from the photos on the site.
@@jayc2941 had to find a replacement head as the trigger-style literally spray out too wide making it quite inconsistent to cover some part of your hair and it do get quite messy.
@@MMTV this is how it look like in Asia - sgpomades.com/products/shear-revival-amity-texture-sea-salt-spray
@@ezekielk.3629 Weird, mine works perfectly. I love it.
So the AG has the same hold as NL? (Firm)
They both maybe listed as firm but they can present in different ways. Gardens has a more oily presentation as it’s an OB clay for example. That’s why I always refer folks to the visual examples- I think those can often times tell more than trying to compare them based on verbiage.
for a prestyler for fine hair the amity spray or the devil
Why at 2:46 is Light hold?
It’s just a typo calm down I was hurrying. You can hear me say strong hold.
Too bad it’s not light hold. That would have been perfect for me.
Too bad it’s not light hold. That would have been perfect for me.
Something like Arcadian clay pomade is pretty light.
Can you plz make a video on the best home brewed product. Also include dauntless in it.
I don’t ever classify anything as the best so that would be hard for me. I also make the dauntless products so to include them in a video about the best homebrewed products would probably be pretty biased.
Yeah it would seem preety biased
How's the smell?
I have the Amity and it smells great. Lots of fresh citrus, with some herbal/sage in it. I would almost wear it as a cologne
And American gardens
There’s a time stamp in the description for scent!
Huh?! Ain’t no way to sugar coat that first spritz..
That was a straight up nut..perfect movie analogy!!😪☠️
That spray didn’t even take me out to dinner first.
Just went in straight away 😂
Would you say that one is special..?😎
U have an error in the info at 3:00 ...
No I think it’s right. It’s a 4oz jar but the product weighs in at 3.4oz
@@MMTV i dont think he meant the size but the fact that you accidentaly wrote light hold instead of high hold
Ahh well my bad. That’s what I get for hurrying I guess 🤷♂️
Aveda thickening tonic still the best prestyler for my hair.. ( thin hair )
I’m glad you found something that works!
Nothing ever changes. No matter how long you do your hair. Looks the same to everyone else. -K.P.
Look closer and you will see the changes. Each product has its own little personality, you just have to be willing to see it- ME
Modern Man TV 😂 I was just quoting a Tame Impala song because I wanted to see if anyone would recognize it. But my hair actually is in limbo rn. It’s way too long because I usually get a haircut when I come home from college, but I didn’t feel comfortable going to my barber at the moment. I loved the video, though. As usual.
