- This is everywhere, but it doesn't sound this good. I also cleaned up the video a bit & re-proportioned it. Replaced the audio. Not perfect by far, though.
For best results, watch in HQ with headphones on (or with really good speakers!) - Hudba
This is what happens when some of the best rockers of all time sink their teeth into a great, emotional song. Phenomenal!
Such a beautiful hommage make tears in my eyes
DALTREY NAILED IT THERE
This is a great song, and such prime examples of the Who players.
Daltry's incredible voice.
Moon's total confidence in his drumming ability come what may,
and Entwistle, the OX, like 14 tons of bricks standing there like nothing can move him!
Amazing!
Superb , Daltrey is the epitome of a classic Rock frontman he oozes class
Love that Daltrey had John Entwistle play bass and Keith Moon on drums! Looked it up and confirmed that they did play on this one song off of album "One Of The Boys"
Thats what im talkin about. Ive always referred this to the Who version as only Pete is missing.
Definitely the most soulful and intense rendition of this song
Daltrey rules.
I agree it’s a fantastic version but I think the writer of the song Murray head sings it better with more soul even though roger is amazing
@@nantwichsurferit is quite possible that both versions are actually the most underestimated and over looked masterpieces of rock ever to be ignored....1977 was just not the time for this epic!
Gary Brooker version... czcams.com/video/1phKZIB5VVQ/video.html
That's the also departed but forever young Jimmy MacCulloch on lead guitar. Great song choice by Roger to cover this classic by Murray Head (aka Judas Iscariot from the original JC Superstar LP...
Where was Pete?
@@justgivemethetruth .....searching for new guitars after destoryed the last SG guitar........
thank You for mentioning Jimmy, what a brilliant Guitar player and what a great man
Just had a listen to the best of the best not to be replicated to this day.
And Jimmy McCulloch, such a young unique talent forever missed
Daltrey voice is great! RIP John and Keith!
And Jimmy McCulloch, who also appears in this video.
One of greatest rock vocalist. What a great song.
An amazing and powerful lyrics accompanied by a unique melody! Murray Head wrote this song and sang it from the heart! Daltrey gave a powerful tribute to Murray! Bravo!
Awesome number ,my favorite singer from the 70 ,s

what a fantastic tune
Blasted out of his mind Moon still makes it look easy
if it had been just a little harder for him maybe he would not have had the time and energy to be so frickin' self destructive.
Beautiful, powerful, live,just the best.
The great Jimmy McCulloch on guitar.
The guitarre really got mee
Who did not die of overdose. It was open verdict. Enough evidence to suggest foul play.
In 1977, Roger Daltrey covered the song for his third solo album One of the Boys. This cover version features Keith Moon (drums) and John Entwistle (bass) of The Who, as well as Jimmy McCulloch (guitar) of Paul McCartney's Wings. Daltrey's version was released as a single (apart from in the UK) and peaked at number 20 in the Netherlands, but failed to chart elsewhere.
All Great musicians….bass outstanding
And then there’s The Ox just doing his thing.
Amazing! Sends chills down my spine.
Keith playing with incredible discipline for his big bro!
Thanks for posting,superb 👍
Outstanding.
Daltrey is a stud the best pipes in rock
One of the BEST..this is my Young time❤🎸💎💎💎
The OX on bass. Love this song. How prophetic.
What a band.
Brilliant ❤
John's bass tone is soooo epic!
Grandios!
Bellissimo primordiale fantastico ,in sintesi un capolavoro.👍👍aggiungo, il sound che era in quegli anni difficilmente ora viene arrangiato, con ritmica basso drums.
I'm drawing a parallel between this song and our current world political environment, and it's almost prophetic and a little scary!!
What a fantastic song. Timeless.
Wow didnt know there was a video! Cool. This why i love youtube. I liked hearing this on Snowpiercer NETFLIX version. Episode 2.
Love the album. Packed with great players.
Underrated album for sure IMHO.
@@joedepalo419 what album is this ???
@@steveeinhorn4737 Daltrey's 3rd solo album One of the Boys.
Keep coming back to this video.... I was into punk , new wave etc at the time and lots of seventies artists disappeared off the radar at this time. Shame
Best cover of this song
tough to do this as good as this bunch of guys ,All world class talent.
Quand j'ecoute l'Auto-Tune, j'ai Mal a l'estomac. Ici Samantha, et j'habite aux E.U. A bientot!
Love watching the insane private world of Keith Moon! Superb song and performance from all.
Долтри .... Обажаю !!!

Unusual restrained drumming from Keith Moon here.

feffin great song by a master
so, this is THe Who minus Pete....so, Keith and John played in concert AND on Roger's solo albums? of course, this is a singa-long performance
Perfeita
Me encanta 😊
More views , please , great song , and they grounded Keith on film - but it almost looks like a gone try at the beginning !
This idiot stole the video from my channel & passed it off as their own. They copied & pasted the description & everything. My video has nearly 1 million views & was posted years earlier. See my other comment
Entwistle and Moon! are you fcking kidding me?
Good by Anna .... God Bless you

When the cover is better, really demonstrates RD’s voice . I am stunned this wasn’t a big hit.

Enorme.
huge in France by Murray Head
So much better than the original
rock star....!
The Hollies had a much softer, but lovely version of this song in 1979.
I didn't know that...and I have a playlist of 80 videos by them. Thx!
a heavy-weight great song x
3/4 Who! Wow
Better than Murray Head's original version!
It's nice because it's different but Murry Head was singing to a particularly tragic event US history (Nixon's Impeachment due to lying/ Watergate) and some ardent Nixon supporters who were Unable to let go of their Fallen Idol R. Nixon. "Clay feet" for a
idol Speaks to our inability sometimes to see a person for what we are ... often good but also flawed. Hence the reference to the fun's of Shoeless Joe Jackson of the1919 "Black Sox Scandal"!
Shoeless Joe is one of my all-time favorite Baseball Players, but he may have participated in pocketing bribe money and throwing the 1919 World Series! It let me saying" Say It Ain't So Joe!" also. 😪 I just feel Murray's voice and mournful approach ofthe arrangement was
had more of the appropriate dissolute feeling of the time and backstory!

What year is this from?
well I’m late to reply, but it’s from a British artist named Murray Head and he released it in 1975 if I recall correctly
Very good version but I still like Murray Head's original.
Who is this Joe who held the country together? Joe who?
And where is Pete Townshend?
I always thought its about Shoeless Joe Jackson , a baseball player accused of fixing the 1919 world series . After he was accused there was a syory of a kid saying to him say it ain't so Joe .
@@KRIC
I think I've heard that before. It seems to be as good of a theory as anything. Not even Daltry's song, his is a cover. Good song though.
Well, if you had Pete picking on the Roger album he would take over and you’d have The Who. Rog was trying to play some things from other writers that he could interpret. Very good. Even Pete would tell you!
Was this song based on Trump and Joe Biden?
Please. It was written in the early 70’s by Murray Head. Not everything is Trump vs dipstick.
Jimmy McCulloch in guitar?
ORIGINAL DE MURRAY HEADT
Came here to confirm how music nowadays is just shit.
This version is better ,better bass for sure 🙂
interesting...not having townsend ...they were just better..

You'd be surprised Americans don't know who Joe is?
I'm assuming Joe Kennedy? But I don't know what the song is really about.
@@gomogo2000 It's in fact "Shoeless" Joe Jackson of the baseball scandal in 1919. If you read the story behind this, you realise where the song title came from..
Heard that a long time ago too. Also remember reading about the story in a baseball book . Great song anyway you slice it !
