They messed up acquiring JT (patience looking for a R-D was required) ,they messed up not trading one of the wingers after the habs debacle, when they had a high return value, now he might walk for nuthin ( could have kept Hyman and continued bolstering the D and goal). But Leafs upper management is probably protecting the "Stars".

What team in any sport has hung on to the same roster for 9 years? Folks! 9 YEARS!!!!. WTF?
So far it looks like they are playing it back and rearranging the chairs on the Leaftanic. They got moderately better on defense and are the same or worst up front, this spells an early exit. If they extend Marner north of 11.5, it's means more years of futility.
Domi got 3.75 and Tampa offered Stamkos 3?!?! That is a kick in the balls
What about Roslovic(sp) for 3rd line center? Still sorta Young . May come at a cheap price. 1 yr 2.5 mill. He was making 4-5 this past season.
Why not take a gamble on him.

JT would make a decent 3rd line winger and pk specialist so 2.5 mill max.
Marner has a hot Oct Nov and Dec and then gets his 12million. Good additions but we need forwards. Arrivederci Jarnshit.
That was probably “ part “ of the reason Brube signed,….. was he wanted the chance to crack the Whip on the “ core-4” and has the vision that he can get Marner to grow a “ pair” and go into the corners!!……….

Tanev and OEL will help a lot. But they are 3-4 defencemen. Same with Rielly. Leafs still lack a number 1 and number 2 defenceman, as well as a number 1 goalie. It's hard to get excited about a team whose ceiling is a 1st round exit. Berube is a good coach but he doesn't have the horses here.

Defence is not around the edges it's a really big part and leafs have never had a big tuff one they had all them small dubass guys
I'm in the camp with buried trade nylander keep mitch people forget marner plays all facetes of the game nylander 2 years ago didn't even skate out an icing in the playoffs
I think leafs did a average signing . I’m guessing the gm try to make their defence first then their forward group . Because let’s be honest no one likes to be on the leafs team especially the forward group . And money is always their problem . And also I think tre is trying to give the chances to the players he has in the minors , because the last gm never gave any of their minors any chances to shine . They are always so tide up to everyone and they end up leaving or wants more money . Thats what I think they are doing .

This leads me to what I feel has been the Leafs problem and it isa VERY tough problem to solve.
For years Morgan needed help no not garbage like over rated Tyson Barrie they need a LEGIT second top line D man.Not so many GM's loking to get rid of a very good D man.
The second problem has to do with the players Mathews is often a very lazy player he is like the upgrade to Mantha yeah he can score but the rest of his game is below average.

Robertson was a draft bust. Trade him did whatever you can get.

Worst signing ever: Leafs sign Domi for 4x's his worth and for longer than any team he has ever been with. He's been with SEVEN (7) teams in the last NINE (9) years and lasted only ONE (1) year with FOUR (4) of those teams. How dumb are the Leafs???? Everyone knows but the Leafs and their fans.
Leafs got worse honestly. They lost Bert and lost some Dmen. Same core 4 what a joke team
A) Tanev has missed an avg of 5 games per year the last few years. Was constantly injured earlier in his career.
B) OEL played great with fla. Why? Because he was not used on the top pair regularly. OEL is great as a 3-4. Will play fine with McCabe or lilly.
C) signing lilly means he's easier to trade. Vs trying to trade with a pending arb case. Use your brains.
D) f*** Marner. So tired of his act. He's a great player but f*** stop crying. Can't wait till he's gone
