I'm a guitarist, but I've played with some great drummers and they all loved Steve Gadd. He was usually their favorite, or one of the drummers that played with Frank Zappa like Chad Wackerman, and Vinnie Colaiuta are the drummers most often cited as the greats, along with my favorite, Dennis Chambers. Yea, the drumming on Aja makes that my favorite Steely Dan album too.
@@aylbdrmadison1051 keyboardist, here, who's also been blessed by playing with some fabulous drummers over the years. A good pocket drummer with finesse makes all the difference. That was great! Clapton is one of the best, he never plays a song the same way twice. The Steve Harvey lookalike is Nathan East, he has worked with Eric Clapton (for at least 4 decades), Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk,...
If you haven't already you need to check out SRV on MTV's Unplugged, he was playing on a borrowed 12 string he had just flown in and he didn't have anything to play of his own.
absolutely. the tempo is much better in the original. got a better "Slowhand" feel to it. Lyrics kill ."I would be the sunlight in your universe. You would think my love was really something good"

The lady in the light colored dress is Katie Kissoon. She has been touring with Eric off and on since the mid 1980's and is considered one of the top background singers in music. Beautiful voice and she uses it perfectly to back others and really shines when she has a solo section.
Wish we could go back in time and see him live,5 times for me ,7 for my husband. Unbelievable performances. Looks like Nathan East on bass here if I'm correct. Outstanding.
I never loved this particular song despite being a huge Clapton fan. Then I saw him perform it live and my opinion did a complete about face. I was able to very easily forget the studio version existed and his band...dear lord, what a lineup! Nathan East, Steve Gadd, Andy Fairweather Low, Billy Preston, David Sanborn and the always amazing Tessa Niles and Katie Kisoon (I think I eyeballed everyone). Another great reaction, Jamel - thanks for a bright spot in the week!
Steve Gadd - drums, Nathan East on bass, David Sanborn on sax, Andy Fairweather Low on guitar, Tessa Niles & Katie Kissoon - backing vocals, Tim Carmon & Dave Delhomme on keyboards... Jamel, they are all top-notch musicians and singers you may not know by name, but played on tons of records you probably do know or heard! That's Nathan East on bass. He's an incredible bass player who has played on numerous recordings for multiple artist and the icing on the cake is that he seems like a really nice humble guy in every interview I've seen.
Nice one. Jamel, you will be blown away by this lady: I PUT A SPELL ON YOU' - SAMANTHA FISH BAND. She is so awesome and just hitting prime of her career. Aretha meets Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Clapton is one of the greatest singer\songwriter\guitarists of the rock & roll era. And has been almost from the very beginning of it. The Beatles' hit, As my Guitar Gently Weeps: the masterful guitar solo was all Clapton.

This is such an impressively written song played so well - everything you could want for an uplifting listen. I really fell in love with Eric’s music from the “Journeyman” album with songs like “Old Love” and the Ray Charles cover “Hard Times”.
Three of the greatest musicians in the world are sidemen on this recording. Steve Gadd - drums; Nathan East - bass; David Sanborn- sax. It doesn't get any better.

sweet
The great Nathan East on bass. Always smiling !!!
GREAT bass player
nate east might do anything, while playing the bass... insanely good.
Everyone knows Clapton is a great guitarist but he's a very underrated singer too
I love his voice.
Agreed. And to think early in his career he wasn’t comfortable singing and being a front man
In his autobiography he said he didn’t think he had a voice, and didn’t have the confidence to do it. I love his voice. It suits his music perfectly 🤗
I could listen to him sing all day!
You can thank Delaney Bramlett for his singing voice.
Anybody who doesn't love this song just ain't right.
Eric Clapton "Let it Rain"
The way 2020 is going I want to wrap Clapton in bubble wrap to keep him safe!! Legend!!
And Stevie Winwood, and Bob Seger, and Paul Simon, and Dolly Parton.. 😢
Absolutely! I'm gonna put Stephen King in my bubble wrap bubble...but not in a weird Annie Wilkes way. LOL
Dr Steve Gadd on Drums..He's the one who played Drums on Steely Dan's Aja
He also played with the incredible band, Stuff, basically the cream of the crop of NY session players...

Both the original After Midnight and his own remake from the 80s. I prefer the newer version.

ME TOO. I’ve been waiting for this one! Still want to hear Forever Man.
One of the best guitar/songwriters in music history. Sir Eric Clapton.
Love that chord progression just before the chorus. Clapton and his friends always mix it up just enough for their live performances.
From cream to this. If Hendrix was alive his acoustic would be cool too

That is a killer line “I would be the sunlight in your universe” oh what a warm love.
Eric Clapton Hits gold with everything he does.
The lyric, the arrangement. Perfection.
The original with Babyface is the best!!!
yeah, it's slower and more soulful.

Baby Face produced this song.
The brilliant David Sanborn on Alto Sax.
The whole Pilgrim album is good. Also, Bell Bottom Blues by Derek & the Domino's, Cocaine, It's In the Way That You Use It.
This version seems much more upbeat and jazzed up compared to the way he released it and how it is normally played.
I noticed that, too.
This was good, but I think the original , slower version had a stronger emotional impact .
"Bell Bottom Blues" or any song of of the Layla album!
