- Welcome to Furniture Fables! Come along with me on this winding makeover adventure as I take the splotchiest and frankly, one of the ugliest pieces of furniture I have ever seen, and try to give it a storybook finish with blending and Alice In Wonderland transfers. Making mistake after mistake, (most of which I should have know better than to have made!), watch as I try to get somewhere wonderful. Perhaps if I just had a little bit of help...

"That rabbit! He owes me money..." There is SO much gold here in your humor, characters, artistry and good design concept. I'll be a fan for life. Thank you for all the hard work you've put into these videos. They have brought me hours of joy! Bravo Andie.
Wow, thanks so much, Karen! This is so great to hear, truly appreciate it. 😊💗🙏

Oh my goodness, thank you so very much Kim!! 😊💜💙
Really enjoyed this. I have been wanting to try transfers but wasn’t st al sure how it would work. Have a much better idea now. BTW, the blending was perfect. Love the result
@@robertawills7219 Thanks so much Roberta! I'm so glad if this helped - they really are quite easy to do. That was my daughter's first time ever applying them - no problem. :)
Definitely some Bob Ross moments!!! You make me laugh and want to get in my studio! Thank you for showing us if it doesn't turn out like we envisioned, keep working at it til it does. We all need to learn from each other and I look forward to what you have to teach me from your next adventure!! Blessings!
You are so welcome, Marcia - and thank you for such a lovely comment!
Usually I am not a big fan of transfers but my goodness!! It turned out amazing!! What a wonderful job!!
Wow, thanks Adriana! Truly appreciate that. 😊💙💜
What a beautiful outcome! The colors are perfect with the appliques!! 💗👍💖👏
Thank you so much! 😊💙💜
Your alter ego is much to hard on you---this is so unusual and mystical and imaginative! The music choice is wonderful too!
Lol, thank you Joy - I will let her know! 😂 Seriously, thank you so much - that is such a lovely compliment. 😊💙
I laughed, I...well, no I didn't cry.....lol. I don't think anyone entertains as much while educating all of us so well.....again, TYVM
I am so grateful to hear this, thank you so much Lynn. 🙏 💙💜
As always I loved your fable. Your smile just lights up the screen.
Wow Linda, thank you so much. So wonderful to hear. 😊💙💜
Bob Ross AND a Star Trek reference in the same episode! Thanks for talking us along as you walked long enough to achieve such a beautiful result, Andy. I really enjoy your fables! Cheers!
Yes, I'm a veritable font of awesome/silly references. 😂 Thank you so much, Brenda, cheers to you!!
I had to stop the video to just say how much I love watching you and these little stories. You crack me up. I love all these little fables. By far one of my favorite people to watch. Now lets see what the video is actually all about. lol....
Lol, I'm so glad! 😊💙💜🙏
The chest clearly tells a story, not only history but will encourage the imagination of the future owners 💭 👏👏👏
Oh, that would be wonderful - I truly hope so. Thanks so much Annette! 😊💙💜
It turned out adorable and the quality time with your daughter is immeasurable❤
Thanks so much, and I couldn't agree more! 😊
This piece is lovely. Well worth the asking price. You are amazing.
Wow, thank you so much, Brenda!! 😊💜💙
Andy, my sister Rhonda Lawrence, Ben's mom, told me about your channel and how creative and instructional you are. I have been marathoning your videos every chance I get. Your tips are relevant and valuable in creating unique works of furniture art. This episode is one of my favorites. You added so many different creative design elements and techniques. Thank you and keep the series going. I look forward to them!
Hi Dolly, thank you so much! I'm so glad you found me, I will be sure to thank Rhonda for that, and I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying the fables. This was one of my favorites too - many twists and turns, as it were. Thanks again for watching, and for letting me know our family connection! 😊
OMG!!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Love it!
Hooray!! Thank you so much!! 😊💜💙
Another GREAT job and so happy you used our Alice transfer. Just adorable outcome!!!!!
Thanks so much!! I of course LOVE your products!
Love love... it's going to make a little girl very happy.. what nostalgia
Thanks so much, Mitzi.
This was a beautiful outcome!! You are very entertaining. I found myself smiling.
Oh, I'm so glad! Thanks so much Regina!
The transfers are adorable. They are by far the most stressful part of the fable. Once their down, there is no going back. Great job!
Absolutely! There was definitely a very audible "phew" when that was done. Thanks so much!! 😊💜💙
Hello Andy. The piece turned out magical! A very nice ending. Didn’t know what to expect, but you kept going and made it happen👍🥰💐
Wow, thank you so much Teresa, so glad you enjoyed it! 😊💙💜
This piece is amazing! As are you. “To err is human!” “We learn from our mistakes!” Things I always told my daughters when they we growing up. I love that you show the whole process. It’s nice to know that even someone as talented as you are can make mistakes. Please keep sharing your work, mistakes and all. Love you.
Wow, thank you Laurie! So wonderful to hear that feedback. I completely agree - mistakes are all part of the process! Will definitely continue to show and share them all. 😊❤️
Loved the transfers! Blending turned out very nice, thanks Andy!
I'm so glad, thanks Brooke!
I don’t understand how I can look at the beginning project and shake my head and wonder how it can all come out and then like magic it poofs into a wonderful magical astounding and beautiful work of art! I am continuing to watch and enjoy!❤️
Hooray! Thanks so much for this Diane - love it. Many many thanks! 😊🙏❤️
Gorgeous as always
Wow, thank you! 😊💜💙
What a creative process! The blending fits so well with the “Wonderland” theme. A truly unique and artistic piece which will be loved for generations.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you agree about the blending as a support for the story telling finish! And I hope you are right. 😊💜💙
Truthfully, I was not hopeful this would turn out well, but I was wrong. You’ve created an enchanting piece of furniture. It’s beautiful.
Wow, thank you so much Sibylle - that is an incredibly nice thing to hear!! 😊💜💙
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy you’re welcome. I always get excited when I see a new video from you. I know that you put a great deal of time and effort into making them and I fear burnout. Take care of yourself. ❤️
Love your chats with your alter ego, your videos are as much fun for the story as the makeover. I'm not into transfers myself, though those were great, but your blending turned out beautifully, it looked like the ocean on a foggy day. Looking forward to your next fable.
Thank you so much Carol, really appreciate this! (I too am not always a fan of transfers) So glad you saw that in the blend - definitely what I was going for. 😊💙💜
Kudos Andy you had your work cut out for you in this one! Magical blend it is!
Hooray, thank so much!! 😊💜💙
Beautiful of course! And that wonderful surprise mistake on the top is so pretty!
Thanks so much! I kinda thought so too. 😊💙💜
The Horta, Vulcan mind meld, ahhhh memories. 😔😌 I saw those episodes when they first showed. I'm glad you know them. Alas, I'm getting old. Oh, I just love what you've done with the chest.
Thank you so much Joan!! (I'm right there with you 😊) So happy you loved the outcome. 💜💙🖖
Thanks for sharing your journey down the rabbit hole. Like Alice, everything turned out just fine in the end. As always, I really enjoy your fables. Can't wait for the next installment.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much Marilyn. 😊💙💜
Nope, I don't have the creative mentality, I just enjoy watching how magicians perform their tricks! And I loved the end results!
🪄 Thank you so much, Alana! 🪄 😊💜💙
How lucky your channel was recommended to me! Absolutely fantastic! Such a wonderful trip down memory lane you gave me. My mother was a librarian and she taught K-6 so I heard many stories she told. She even read to me when I was pregnant. You are incredibly talented and I look forward to watching more of your stories.
p.s. I love your frames! Beautiful just like you 😊
Thank you so much, AJ! I'm so happy you found my channel and are enjoying the fable angle. I hope you can watch my Magical Living Console Table - it was inspired by the works of Maurice Sendak. Thank you again for watching and for your lovely comment! 😊
Your channel is not just informative but down right entertaining, thank you for taking the time to share with us💖
I appreciate hearing that, thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful journey worthy of Alice in wonderland.
You are very welcome, thank you for accompanying me on the journey! 😊💙💜
Oh my…. Can I relate. 😂 I love the outcome… albeit a long journey. I really like the muted stencil, with the wash over it! Love that idea. 😊
Thanks so much! I'm sure many folks can, lol. So glad you liked the wash over the stencil! 😊
Andy the only words that cone to mind after seeing this busted, blotchy, broken scratched up trunk transformed is what an amazingly, epicilly wonderous transformation WOW Andy as is your usual result this is gorgeous, talk about a journey one you've managed to depict beautifully with the gorgeous paint colours you chose (despite the tiny errors😅) and those fantastic transfers they are so expressionable, this is a true furniture fable I feel , and to have your daughter help in that is golden, thank you for sharing this video ,talk about inspired, take care all the best Mary in Australia 🌻
Oh my goodness, WOW - that's all the words that I can summon. Well, I guess also - thank you! Thank you so much Mary, for such a wonderful comment. My heart is full! 😊💙💜🙏
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy your are most welcome 😘
Such a delightful time watching you create "magic" with all your skills of blending paints, decals and your explanation of the entire process. Family involvement was an added blessing. I loved the outcome of the entire creation - Beautiful! God bless
Thank you so much, Sheila! I agree - I am so happy when the family pitches in...it's an enormous help, and an encouragement to my heart for sure. (and time with my girl is the best!) 😊💙💜
You are dubbed and to be known henceforth as Outta-The-Park-Andy! I always come away so inspired and with new tools in my belt after watching your videos!
I am honored, and gratefully accept this new title! 🙏😂 Thank you so much - that makes me so happy to hear. 😊💙💜
Love this episode! I tend to be selfish and make this my coffee and me time! 🥰 Gorgeous piece and that blue whispered secrets to my heart!
I love that!! Honored to be a part of your coffee and me time. Thank you so much - and I'm gaga for your "phraseology"... "that blue whispered secrets to my heart". 😊💙
As ever, I loved the intro with the good-twin/evil-twin debate ! For a moment, I thought you were talking about Kit Williams' MASQUERADE, but it turns out that in that story, it's a hare (not a rabbit) who (as the protagonist) brings a fantastic jewel from the moon to the sun (a love token). It's a real life jewel too, a gold filigree necklace.
I spent many days in the early 90's pouring over its drawings, hoping to solve the puzzle, without realizing the necklace had been found in 1982 already --- those pre-internet days, eh ?
In the end, your tribute to Alice In Wonderland was fantastic in its own right. I think the gradients in blue was an inspired solution, providing a thematically appropriate, but also soothing, background to the grotesque drawings on the transfers.
I always enjoy your typical final chapter, where you're transparent about the price. I think that's a real gift to the community of restorers (which I'm not), and very relevant to buyers (which I am).
In this version, I spotted some of your other projects in the background... that's also great fun : which do I recognize from previous videos & which could I make guesses about ??
Thanks for sharing!
I'm very happy to hear the intro debate is still working, and that the other juxtaposition of the background blend and illustrations worked as well! I enjoy your thorough and insightful observations, thank you very much !
This is absolutely stunning...I'm blown away...I was nervous to see a cedar chest painted, but your took it to a whole new level with your love of books...truly a masterpiece...some very lucky person got this at a bargain price!
Wow, thanks so much Colleen!
That blue!! I came in close to the end of your journey, so going back to the begin to see how got to where you did, after walking long enough ;)
Oh wow - yes, the journey, while fraught with mistakes, is probably worth it! 😊 Thanks so much!
Even after your trials and tribulation, she turned out beautifully and hope she sells quickly for you! So very nice you got to work with your daughter! I am so missing mine!
I understand, and thanks so much! PS - Already have someone offering to buy, and haven't listed it yet!
Don't you love how we humans plan and see it in our minds when doing a new project but the process finds us in a different direction just as we didn't plan for but end up LOVING the outcome haha. You almost put me in a trance there at the end with your very comforting voice through story telling which would be awesome if I didn't just wake from a nap and need to do over a million things 😴 The color blending with your blueberry color just turned things around for your piece and Kudos to your Fam for choosing not to overload your work of art. Just Gorgeous and can't wait for your next video.
Wow Laura, thank you! So very true - the process takes us where it takes us. I'm so glad you enjoyed, in spite of all those million things I pulled you away from! Such a lovely comment, thanks again. 😊💙
@@FurnitureFablesbyAndy 😍
Watching this sewing flamingo fabric, what a wonderful transformation!
Wow!! What a fabulous combination! Thanks so much. 😊💙💜
Thanks for the wash over the stencils idea...I love it.
You are so welcome! 😊💜💙
My Lane chest is from the early '60s. Did not know about the locks, thank you. I "slapped" black paint on the top a few years ago so that my TV could reside there which it now does. A painter I am not. You did an amazing job on this.
I'm so glad you saw that about the lock! Many folks have these in their homes - they get passed down, etc and it's very easy to miss the news about a recall. Many thanks - so glad you liked the outcome!! (PS - "slapping that paint on" is where we all start...😊) 💜💙
golly! you sure went down the rabbit hole in all that blending!!
Sure did!! 😊
I so love watching you create. This piece is adorable. I love transfers. Sometimes a piece or process leads you where it wants to go. Just trust the process. Thanks for showing your "good and not so good" efforts.
Many thanks Sarah, that was lovely to read! 😊💜💙
Andy- you’re CZcams channel is my favourite. You are a wonderful creator. (& your makeup is always perfect. Jealous). I restore furniture too. You are an inspiration. Love from australia.
Wow Jacquie - thank you so much!! I'm honored and so happy you enjoy the fables. (and thanks so much for the makeup shout out! 🙏) 😊💙💜
Aaaaaaaaaahhh!!! It's SO CUTE!!! Loved the finished blend -- gorgeous colors! An clearly expert help on the transfers!
Yaaaaaaayy!!! SO glad you liked this one!! Thanks so much! And yes - I truly had amazing help this time. 😊💜💙
You are such a delight! Look so forward to your videos. Your pieces are so much fun and creative. Love of all of the eye glasses you wear. Thank you again for being such a bright spot.:)
Wow, thank you so much Rachael!! That is so incredibly nice to hear, I truly appreciate it!! 😊💜💙
Yes!! It was truly magical!! Love it.
Thank you!
Loved watching the metamorphosis of Horta! Lovely job in the end Andy, I admire your vision and execution 💙
Thank you kindly, Donna! So nice to hear. 😊💙
Charming and very creative, as usual!
Thank you! 😊
Both a Horta and a timey wimey reference! ❤❤❤ Glad this didn't get away from you too bad. 😉
Lol, thanks! (showing my neediness for sure) :)
It looks fabulous Andy. Love the blending and I love the transfers. Well done.
Thank you! Cheers! 😊💜💙
Just amazed at your creativity, the paint job turned out perfect and the stencil placement excellent !
Thank you very much, Dianne! 😊💙💜
I have done myself tons of mistakes in transforming pieces, but even now i kind of embrace them and think sometimes they add beauty...i enjoyed this video so much.beautiful result
That is such a wonderful way of looking at it, thank you so much!
You are so creative and talented. I'm so happy I found your channel!!
Thank you so much Vilmarie - I'm very happy you found me as well! 😊💙💜
So awesome, it turned out really great!! Loved the blending at the beginning with the sand color before you kept going. It was like a landscape then. Loved it after too. Well done to a job well done. A magical storybook chest. I think the new owner will be exceptionally pleased.
Thank you so much - I liked where I was going in the beginning too - maybe I'll revisit that in the future with the right paints! 😊💙💜
gorgeously done ..
I like that you add in the mistakes you can make , then over come them to transform..
I make them all the time, and sometimes think its not right,it's nice to say you're doing fine now learn and transform it..some furniture flippers don't add their mistakes into the video..
so it is appreciated to say its not just me in those moments x
Thanks so much, I'm glad to hear that is helpful! I too love it when folks share their struggles and mistakes - we learn so much from them! 😊
Beautiful!
Thank you so much, Ruthie! 😊💜💙
So much fun and a beautiful outcome.
Thank you Sharyle!
Turned out magical!
Thanks JoAnn!
Andy you should read stories, I love your voice and could fall asleep listening to you ... it is very calming
One of my favorite things to do! Thanks so much, so nice to hear. 😊💙
I loved the transfers. I’m glad you didn’t just fill in the lock hole as some flipper do. The new owner has the option of getting a “free replacement lock.”
Yay, so glad you loved the transfers! They really look great in person. And appreciate that about the lock - I considered for a second filling it in, but then realized I could just disable it. Always great to keep those options available! 😊💜💙
Amazing talent you have. You have one of the best channels. Love, love the finished chest!
Wow, many thanks! 😊💙💜
I love Alice In Wonderland. Great job! It came out great for all of the miss steps, LOL!
Hooray! Thanks so much, Cindy. 😊💙💜
Love the stencil and wash treatment on the top.
Thanks Becky! 😊💙💜
Andy, this one turned out beautiful! Mistakes are part of the learning process, if you get it right all the time you won't learn a better way. I have wanted to use the Alice in Wonderland stencils on a project but I haven't gotten to it yet.
My favorite part was where your daughter came to help. What a precious memory you shared. I am working on a dresser with my daughter for her room. She's never chalk painted before.
Great job, as usual.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for sharing this Karen! Yes I agree - getting to work together with my girl was such a special thing, I feel so fortunate. That's so fantastic you are doing the same! Many thanks. 💜
You boldly went where no one has gone before! And shouldn’t go back. (Tee Hee Hee 😛 ) (sorry staying with Star Trek reference) loved the end result
YES!!! Thanks so much. 🖖
It is all a learning experience with painting..the final product awesome as usual!
Agreed! Thanks so much Beverley. 😊💜💙
When you have an idea, you have to go with it- then adjust. Beautiful end result.
I agree! Thanks so much Diana. 💜💙
I loved the original blending on the side. It evoked memories of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"; something New England old time coastal, seafaring, romantic, tragic, faraway, ethereal.......it was lovely. Now going to hit "play" again and I'm sure I'll love the end product, too.
Whoaaa....LOVE that. Yes, I think I was on to something with that...just did not have the correct paints. I think I'll actually revisit that idea sometime in the future. Thanks again!
"It's life Jim, but not as we know it!!" ✌😊😊 💕💞 Love from Cheshire, England
YAASSSS!!!! Thanks so much!! 😊💙💜🖖
Bob Ross is a great approach--work with paint, let it be a partner in the creative process.💖
Love that! Thanks Irina. 💜💙
First-time viewer. Thank you for the process. It's absolutely beautiful. What a blessed little girl and family. A brand new family heirloom
Welcome!! Thank you so much, truly appreciate hearing that!
Loved how you showed the "real" process. I have had more than one project like this, and I ALWAYS take a valuable lesson away. Chest turned out beautifully!
Thank you so much, Moranda - so wonderful to hear, especially from someone who's been there! 😊💜💙
I LOVE this piece! I didn’t think I would like it, but ended up loving it! ❤❤❤❤
Hooray, that's so great to hear!! Thanks so much!
As usual, it's gorgeous. I'm working on an old lane cedar chest. Lots of learning take always. I love the paint wash over the stencil. You really pulled off the blending.
Oh wow Paula - what a coincidence! Thanks so much, so glad you liked that wash on the top - I was so pleased with how it came out too! 😊💜💙
Oh my this is so magical!
Hooray, thanks Nicole!
This is a most marvelous piece! I’m sure Alice would agree.
Hooray, thank you so much Kay! I hope so. 😊💙💜
Spectacular...and a wonderful fable!
Thank you so much, Barbara! 😊💙💜
Loving your blossoming format with more of “her-self” & the addition of the out takes at the end… genius and so enjoyable to watch ….that when you’re just.. not ..ready.. for it all to end ….you get a piece of creator cake for desert… ok Andy, now you can end the story! And then there is the delight of all the twists and turns as the chest makes it journey from forlorn to delightful story board floating in an other-worldly atmosphere. Good job girl! Keep having fun and bringing us along for the ride❣️🥰❣️ ps your “little You..tube channel” (quote is from her-self on an earlier episode, that had me rolling in the isles😂😂😂) is tops in my book and on my play list!👍👍👍
Wow Rena, what can I say...except thank you so so much for this!! What a wonderful comment to get to read - I really appreciate you taking the time to share. SO glad to know you are enjoying my slightly less-than-traditional approach!! 😊💙🙏
First time watching, I was throughly impressed and enjoyed your video very much , I’ll be back for more episodes.
That's so wonderful to hear, thanks very much! 😊💙
What about the idea of keeping the monetary value of the "learning" in the value of the creation? That, to me, is the art. It turned out so much better because of it and YOUR learning is already influenced by everything else you have created so far. Some would argue that THAT is the creative process. Plus you improved the project greatly because of it, whereas someone else might not have bothered to redo it. They would have just rolled with it. Your method is studied and so your project is superior. You added value to your item because of it. I would pay MORE for an item because of that aspect. Good wishes to you. Love your Fables. -Mimi
Wow Mimi - I think I'll save this one! It's interesting...and something I go back and forth about sometimes, but I truly appreciate hearing your well thought out case. Many thanks - so happy you enjoy the fables. 😊
I agree! To me it goes along the lines of dropping your price just to get a job. For ourselves, and others who create in the same way, that's a hard no. Somewhere down the line we have to realize our value. This is my very first visit to this channel, oh how fun! I love the story telling and creative process. I'll venture further in as I enjoy more fables! I'm 99% not into furniture refinishing although I will say I'm hoarding a piece that I wanna redo myself! It's a rescue from the trash heap. I do not need, simply cannot use it and it'll be gorgeous once it's redone. It's an entertainment center with glass behind woodwork on two doors. Being in pretty good shape, not really older or "outdated" I can't imagine why it was discarded. But, it was free for the rescue and it's mine to play with!
I'm off to see how much more fun I can find in your videos! Thanks for all you do, I'm glad I found you this morning! ❤
JUST STUNNING!!!!
Hooray, I had my fingers crossed!! Thanks so much Lisette!!
Looks great. Lovely.x
Thanks so much, Karon!
Love your Eye Glass frames that you wore in this one :)…. I want!

Andy, I have to say I didn’t care for the original colors but you did a fantastic job on this chest. It is beautiful! Keep up the great work. I look forward to your mistakes morphing into wonderful pieces 😊
Thanks a bunch! Truly appreciate that!
