How long did it take for anyone after seeing Prometheus for the first time to realize that it had almost the exact same set-up as Alien vs Predator? Either people were afraid to tell Ridley Scott or he has literally no idea of its existence.

Iirc Ridley Scott has seen it and hates it, but he probably stole a bunch of ideas from it thinking nobody would notice.
Ofc Prometheus was rewritten last minute to try and remove all the Alien prequel elements and make it its own movie, so maybe originally it didnt "borrow" as much from AVP lol

As a big fan of both Aliens and the Predators, AVP to me is a guilty pleasure, fun, watchable movie. It's a good time waster at best. I'd prefer the first 2 alien movies and the first 2 predator movies as they are both masterpieces in their own way. If we had great, compotent directors like Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, James Wan, anyone who can reboot the AVP movie and make it better than the 2004 version, i'd be on board to give them a chance to make it work :)

Yeah - the problem with the Predators, looking too beef-cake like at times. Kevin Peter Hall played the original Predator with grace and style. @@15blackshirt Yeah, because people complained that the predators didn’t have the exact same body type as the ones from Predator and Predator 2 so they changed it back so people would stop complaining.
I always found this a really stupid point of contention for no other reason then you just want every single predator to be a carbon copy of the first one. We have thin muscular human beings and thick muscular human beings, but the predators have to be all one build or you’ll lose your minds.
If you actually want to believe that these creatures are an actual species, then they’re going to have various body types, various colorations, and various facial and body features.

Gary is surprised that Ripley doesn't recognize Weyland, but she was really just some standard employee at that point. The only thing that ends up making her stand apart from any other person is that she survived an Alien and then also blew up the Nostromo. I don't even know what the founder of the company that I work for looks like, and he's still alive. I'm pretty sure she was just there to get a paycheck and didn't give two shits about upper management.

I´ve rewatched this recently and I must say, after "The Predator", this movie isn´t nearly as bad as I remembered it. Yes, the writing is weak and most characters are boring and forgettable, however most of the important things are in place, they have tons of practical effects, the core of the conflict had true potential and considering it´s budget, it became a well-rounded film that in itself made sense to some degree. Some scenes are even really memorable e.g. when the Queen gets unfrozen. Here the scene gets enough time to work and to build the appropriate atmosphere.

The only reason the "Grid" alien was able to kill 2 of Predators is because they are young and inexperienced. Seasoned Predators wouldn't be so easily bested. Hell, to become a clan leader, a Predator has to clear out an entire Alien hive alone.

MY question is, were the Predators aware that there'd be a human scientific expedition there to provide hosts for the facehuggers? 'Cause without them, there's nobody to be implanted to create the Aliens they're supposed to train against. And if the training program (or whatever) only works with a steady supply of humans, why build the temple in the ass-end of nowhere where humans are unlikely to stumble across it? How often would it be used? Not much. Basically, the entire thing hinges on Weyland's expedition going there, which, AFAIK, the Predators would have no way of knowing about until they arrived, meaning they sent these three trainees to a place where they weren't even sure there'd be anything for them to fight. Maybe these three were just being pranked by their buddies and it went horribly wrong because Weyland's expedition provided hosts for the facehuggers.

I just watched the 2 AVP movies and I enjoyed them and was entertained. However you can tell straight away you’re watching a B Movie. Paul W. S. Anderson did Event Horizon which was fucking amazing, but some of his other stuff doesn’t even come close to what he did with Event Horizon. I thought the lead actress in AVP was miscast, and some of the CGi and special effects weren’t that great, I suppose because of the 50 million budget which for a sci-fi themed movie is a low budget. Oh and yeah I was surprised to see it was rated 15 or PG 13 over in the US, a film like this should be 100% 18 or a hard R over in the US. Though like I said I did enjoy my time watching the films, it’s just you can tell that it could’ve been a lot better.

Honestly as bad as AVP and AVP: Requiem are, ive always been a little disappointed that they didnt give it a third try. Hopefully someday we'll get a reboot or something from a director who knows what theyre doing. The biggest problem with the two AVP movies is the fact that theyre set in modern times and feature mostly civilians; what they need is to give fans what they actually want, which is to set the movie in the future and have the human characters be Colonial Marines, just like in the comics and games. We dont want Ripley-Lites, we dont want weird nods to Weyland-Yutani that dont make any sense, we dont want convoluted plots that contradict both franchisea, and we DEFINITELY dont want mindless child killing and characters like Ricky and Jessie. All we want is a movie thats like the AVP videogames, and i hope someday someone decides to give it to us. As long as that person isnt Ridley Scott, of course, he's gone off his rocker and shouldnt be allowed to further ruin the Alien franchise lol

I think it would have been a good idea to set an AVP film in the future on a military base on a distant planet.
The military (overseen by a Weyland-Yutani bod or two) are breeding Aliens and are in the process of getting them prepared for off- world shipment when the Predators show up. Chaos ensues, Aliens break out, it's Aliens, Predators and Marines in a free for all!
That's the direction I would have gone personally, but of course Hollywood aren't knocking on my door for ideas lol.

AvP is aggressively mediocre. I don’t mind it because it doesn’t utterly wreck the timeline of either franchise, unlike Prometheus/covenant and The Predator(2018)

Hey guys, your fan from Spanish Harlem in NYC. I know this is a old video, but I'll drop a comment anyway.
My opinion in regarding the size of the Predator is that remember how in Predator they were going to have JCVD be the Predator, but with the size of Arnold and his team, they needed a creature that size wise you could believe that the Predator could destroy it's enemy. In comparison with this most of the cast is average height, so having them "beefy" could sell the Predator's strength. Again it's just my opinion.
I hated the fight scene because it was just like wrestling. I wanted more weapon usage against the Aliens. For me that was something they did better in Requiem.
Yeah it's annoying that they were never consistent in saying how long it takes the chestburster gestates in the host.
I know, us fans wanted these movies to blow our socks away, but we always get teased.

Im a 29 year old man wen avp came out i was 15 it was the first alien or predator movie i sawl in the theater. Just like when i sawl star wars episode one in the cinema made me a fan of star wars ya i sawl episode 4 5 6 on vhs but i was a lil kid and never liked it too much but the prequels made me fans and now episode 5 is my favorite star wars movie. I forgot why i started typing point is im glad avp was pg 13 and on the dvd its that campy "unrated addition" was a product of the time... Just glad it was PG-13

Paul W.S. Anderson directed the first Mortal Kombat, a legitimately bad movie thats really fun to watch. It's quite possibly the best movie to sum up the 90's up until that point and perhaps owes is success to that- Mortal Kombat would never have succeeded as much had that same movie been released in the 00's. The very next movie he directed was Event Horizon which again, succeeded because it was such a 90's film. Although Event Horizon was just as fantastic at it's best moments as it was bad at it's worst. Perfect Balance.
I honestly thought this dude would have a few more good movies in his future but, since 1998's Event Horizon, nope. It's clear that he hit his peak with his second 'successful' movie and will probably never again work on a movie up to that quality- and Event Horizon isn't exactly a masterpiece lol. I'm pretty sure he's worked on EVERY shitty resident evil movie, the death race movies, that awful DOA movie and this disaster of a movie... I mean it's AVP how could you go so wrong when theres so much material doing AVP right all around you!?! Why do people keep giving this dude money and established IPs to work with? Even at his best he isn't making nearly as much box office profit as a straight up decent film would... He's magnum opus was Mortal Kombat: The Movie... I just don't understand how this dude and Uwe Boll are trusted with any pre-existing franchises.

When you get 2 different franchises like Predator(s) and Alien(s) and bring them together, firstly the only reason they're gonna do it is a cash grab, and secondly, it's never gonna be that serious. So in retrospect when you consider the low budget and PG13 rating I think it was alright, it could've been far far worse...It could've been AvP Requiem!!!

Predators are like Boba Fett in that, while cool, get punked a lot.
I'd like a movie where a Predator doesn't die or go out in a lame way and instead walk away a winner.
Also, why would the Predators be so stupid not to check a dead body for face-hugger shenanigans after sending them to fight them and the Aliens 🤔😖.

the scale - size of the
    XENOMORPH QUEEN
can be explained by the fact
    WE as the AUDIENCE
    haven't seen a
    XENOMORPH QUEEN
    after she's been alive for
    DECADES or CENTURIES
    the previous ALIEN movies only
    showed recently born
    XENOMORPH QUEENS
that haven't been alive very long
    for all we know the
    XENOMORPH QUEEN
could easily live long enough to
    become very large
    INCLUDING
    becoming the size
    of a 2 or 3 story house

It's certainly no masterpiece, but I still like the film as a guilty pleasure. I should mention, however, that I am a total sucker for all kinds of Alien vs Predator vs Marine/Human (vs Engineer) crossovers. I would have preferred more insight into the Predator culture (Predator 1 and 2 only throw morsels at you and the books fleshing out the Yautja race are not film cannon even though they might have inspired AvP). I really hope they do more AvP films, and I want them to be futuristic space tales, real Sci-Fi.
Please no more AvPR films! The only scenes watchable are those with the Predator (Wulf) involved. And some Predalien shots maybe. All scenes involving humans in general and those annoying highschoolers in particular might cause eye cancer and brain hemorrhage.

It's interesting that you guys criticize Weyland for bringing "grunts" along on a scientific expedition, but you don't question the guards and mercs in Prometheus and Covenant. All three involve expeditions going into potentially hazardous territory with security guards brought along for protection, but why is it only dumb in this movie?
