Honestly, horn is the best instrument, and I’m so glad I play it like you! I hope I can be just as talented as you one day. Have a great day/night!
Just trying to share some music so everyone can have something to practice in the next few weeks!
You are talented right now, because you actually play one best instrument.
PS i play horn too and i like my life
Also me:wtf am i doing
Thanks! I find horn to be one of the most complicated instruments, and, as technically a child, I find it very a good instrument for me to have started on! I play a few others, but French horn is definitely superior. 💗✨
When i was little I was wishing like I WaNT To pLAy DOUBLE BASS
Thank goodness i doesnt play double bass now i had a lots friends who plays double bass and this job need muscles
PS my arms are like a french fries
Aren’t all French horn players technically french fries? 😂
I know it's a play along but there's no way I'll be able to hit that high Bb as casually as you did
Something to work towards!!
I cant even hit the high Ab as casually xD
Same I’ve played horn for 5 months idk how I expected myself to be able to play this
@@that-one-genz7835 no I still suck I play to a high A on an extremely good day
yall talking about the high Bb but that C#! omg it's crazy😭
Your tone is Perfect! I love how clean every note is!
I appreciate that! Some flubs here and there, but I had fun making it!
Literally!
WOW!!! I’m so jealous, your high register is just so beautiful and your tone...Perfect!!! So glad I’m subbed
Cheers! Thanks you.
I was reading the title of the video and it said “play along” it took me two seconds to realize I couldn’t play along...
-I suck.
ssame lol
3:35 When I tried that note, I thought my mum killed a mouse in the kitchen!
We are playing the Jay Bocook Arrangement of this for band and first horn (me). This is so helpful!!! This is my solo for defying gravity and i was having a bit of trouble with it!
Have fun!!
Beautiful! We performed a band version of Wicked and I had the Defying Gravity solo that I practice SO much and could hit the high A in our arrangement, but wouldn't you know, I flubbed it in concert. ACK!! Thank you, Patrick, for sharing this!
I play horn at my school and honestly I’m surprised you don’t as much credit as you do you are actually incredible
I appreciate that! I'm happy with what I get.
Ah yes, working on those huge jumps will pass the time nicely. Also, would be sad to see these videos go away, but you should give a symphony orchestra audition a try. I’ve heard you play some really hard things before, and i think you would have a good shot.
I appreciate that! I'm moving provinces in the coming months and will be auditioning for the local symphony. I used to be in quite a few orchestras before taking a step back. Looking forward to playing with real live people again!
I like you sooooo much. I play french horn too and i was soooo happy when i see you happy like this in this time.
PS
ITs CorOnA tImE ...
WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!
Very good, seems fun to play
This is amazing! He’s so good at it. I could never imagine being as good instrument player.
Hey! You probably won't see this comment, but I played clarinet for 6 years until I found a french horn in my grandma's storage closet and she let me have it. I've been trying to learn it and it is really hard man but your vids are super inspiring honestly, I watch this and think about all I will someday be able to do on my horn. Thank you Patrick!
Of course I’ll see it! Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. I hope you stick with it and become a great horn player. Have fun!!
I was doing okay until 3:42 -ish when that Eb to Bb smacked me upside the head
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS more videos with this format please.
Great Job Trompist
I’m out of school for 5 weeks so I’ve been doing nothing other than play horn so please come out with more of these play alongs. They are super fun 😁
I will do my best!
I wish I can play this (of course all memes)
I think my professor wont be happy
Bhahahahha
Wow... just..... WOW!!! that was great... i think i'll start playing F horn too.. 😅
I wish I could play that high but I can really only get to a high G (above the scale G idk)
Something to work towards! It can always be played down the octave :)
You can do this
Only work
And ambition

Wtf whats wrong with me
Bhahahaha
Ok im done now
Really loved this video do more play alongs please
I will do my best!
Missed seeing these!
i gotta get myself on of these. I dabbled in horn during HS but then covid so I didnt get to enjoy all the horn has to offer
Nice
stunning
I wish I could like this video more than once
Share it and that’s makes you like it 100x.
as a highschool french horn player, i am both in awe and also very frightened
Think of it as something to work towards! Whatever is too high, play down the octave and have fun with it!
wicked is one of my most favourite musicals of all time & hearing this on the horn is so great!!! I've been on a long break but hearing you play this gives me motivation to pick up my horn to play again! looking forward to more vids 👍🏻
So good! I’m glad you enjoyed and hope you pick up your horn and learn it again!! Have fun.
I switched from trumpet to horn at school as we don't have any actual horn players, it is a ton of fun though, and i can hit the high notes and such, but I found your account shortly after the switch and you honestly inspired me to work towards playing well and i hope to be able to play with the tone and such that you can play with :)
You should do “somebody that I used to know” btw great vid
I think I have! Look it up!
Ok
You sound awesome!! Thanks for this- one of my favorites growing up! :)
silently saves to my "french honr" playlist for later
(that is intentionally spelled wrong i accidentally did it and now the playlist is just left like that)
hey man i love your videos and you such a great horn player and the horn is the best instrument in the world even though i play several instrument like horn, trumpet, and flute.
Very cool!
Hi you’re an amazing player!!! Do you have any tips to hit higher notes? I’ve been playing for 6 years and i can barely hit a D in the staff :(
Go through the natural series of all fingerings and hold long notes. Also i have improved my range with about a fifth when I started playing trumpet along with french horn if that helps.
That ending the!
That effortless double c tho
Man horn is a beautiful instrument, im really glad i chose it. Now the question i have is what type of horn do you use? Im curious, cant afford one currently so in the future i would like to know what you guys recommend! You know im the only horn player at my school so i really wish i could sound nearly as good as you ( i know that its the player and not the horn but i just really wanted to say that). Thanks Patrick! Have a good day my guys! I really enjoy what you do so thank you!
You r SUCH a good French horn player!
How do u do it?
I play French horn and it's really hard for me
Practice, practice, practice. A good warmup routine and consistently trying to get better! OH! And have fun!
i cant put all my fingers on french horn keys
HELp DoNATe FinGErs
And also why you dont play in symphonyc orchestra, you are such a talent. Come and try you can be better when you play with other people.

GREAT JOB!!! Good chops. I'm tending to tense up now at 60 doing those 'excursions'. Ya, cool fast air.
Now. Did you get yourself an Alex 103? I wasn't sure from that angle.
This is still the Wessex $850 double horn. Holds its own, that’s Forsure.
@@FhornPatrick Wow. Well great job nontheless. Just picked myself up a Briz 2000SC Plays like a Schmid. 👍
What are your best exercises to gain upper octave range? I’ve tried slurs for God knows how long, and it just isn’t showing improvement, I’ve tried the Kopprasch warmups, the 335 technical and melodical studies book, I just don’t know what to do. You’re amazing btw, definitely earned my subscription.
Yo, are you doing that crazy play-one-note-and-hum-the-other thing?? Or did you just record over yourself?
In currently playing this in band!...if you can call the noise I make "playing"...I cannot quite get to that high A flat...
When I attempt an F or higher I sound like a drugged elephant.
Hello Patrick
Hello
I also play French horn in Portugal
I am a freshman in high school, and have been playing since 6th grade. I am ready to upgrade
from my cheap horn to my own professional one. I’ve seen you use both, so would you recommend the Conn 8d or Holton h279? I know it’s all based on preference with minor differences, but if you could help that would be great, thank you:)
Haven’t used the 279, but the 8D is a classic that I always recommend.
Congratulations. What horn is that? Holton? Conn?
Do you breathe through your nose while playing?? I never saw you take a breath through your mouth
i sometimes struggle to hit a f on the top of the staff, and you expect me to hit that?
Leafeon Plays Nice dude. I can hit the high D, (two notes below you) consistently/clearly. On a good day can hit an E.
Leafeon Plays You just made me realize I need to practice a bit more. The highest note I can hit clearly is an Ab above the staff. On the good days. I'm going to go get my 40 hours of practice a day now
OHNOSHE DIDNT Range isn’t as important for a French horn player. As long as you can get like a high A consistently/clearly, then you’re good. Tone, style, and rhythm are the three most important things.
OHNOSHE DIDNT if you’re French horn principal player in high school, the highest note you’ll have to hit is an A. It needs to be clean and consistent tho. Range is more of a trumpet thing, we’re expected to have an insane range.
Raul Carhuayano Not really, I’m the principle at my school and I’m most of the music we play there are multiple parts above A. Highest I’ve had to go is a C#.
Where did you get the sheet music?!?!?
Will there be a only Piano Version with Sheets?
If you check out the "All sheet music" option on the store, the piano backing is in with this arrangement.
This is GREAT and all but come on we've been waiting for toss a Witcher a coin 😭
I recorded it. It was really boring. I scraped it.
FhornPatrick oh :( well thank you so much for at least trying
Ok if we're doing idina menzel now you can't just skip into the unknown.. for all us 25 year old frozen fans. Because let's be honest. the only reason I'm going to conservatory rn is to be better at playing disney.
It was really good! However, at 3:36, you played the wrong rhythm. It was 3 quarter notes. Not trying to be rude! Loved the video, just wanted to correct it.
