Chelsea Carter Micellar water is made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. The idea is that micelles are attracted to dirt and oil, so they are able to draw out impurities without drying out the skin. Therefore, micellar water can be used as a facial wash, makeup remover and moisturizer all in one.

Candyprincess971 it still needs to be followed with a cleanser. The micellar water was only able to clean the top layer of makeup and dirt from her skin, but anyone who wears makeup needs to cleanse twice in order to actually clean their skin

I know I'm an esthetician and I don't even comment if there's skin care routine is technically not right. Obviously it's working for her and that's all that matters, do I wish that she cleansed after the micellar water of course but a lot of French people do simply stick to miceller water because of how horrible the water in France. That's exactly why it was invented actually. People gotta realize it's 90% genetics 10% skincare. My mom is 70s she's been washing her face with Dove bar soap forever and barely uses moisturizer and she looks like she could be in her fifties. So to each their own. there's only a few people on CZcams that I actually trust for skincare advice because in a lot of the gurus that are very popular even state in the beginning of their video they're just skincare enthusiasts none of them are estheticians or dermatologists. But apparently watching a 20 minute video makes you an expert.

i know dermatologists and even they say that they may know best about skin biology but there are things about chwmistry they dont study. So many products and ingredients have insufficient evidence so dermatologists wont make any claims about them.

You're using it to take off your make up or whatever but it's a CLEANSING PRODUCT, no one would think of leaving an oil or gel cleanser on their skin, why is micellar water any different?

100% correct. If a product has any surfactants in it (which miscellar waters do) they need to be rinsed off. You’re literally otherwise leaving soap on your face as that’s what surfactant is, even if it’s a mild one.

Totally agree. And not cleansing afterwards just means there's still a little makeup mixed with micellar water left on the skin? Even if most is wiped off, there's still trace makeup, bacteria, SPF (which micellar water cannot effectively break down alone) sweat and pollution from the day left on there in small amounts.

Exactly, unless you have a legitimate cosmetic science background you have no place to judge anyone's skincare routine, look at Yara, she was condescending towards a board certified dermatologist, turns out she lied about her own private label skincare she didn't even formulate.

Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizer in itself since it attracts up to 1000 its weight in water, as long as you seal the moisture with a light oil like squalane you're good.
