    Always awsome to see how a tractor can pull the weight that does. :)

    I like your tractor. It's probably handier than a two peckered billy goat. The bucket camera view was fun.

      @jamiewykes8585 It IS a handy tractor, but it was sure a mistake to buy it!! I bought it as a fixer-upper and intended to flip it and make a few toad-hides in the process; after I remounted the seat, fabricobbled a wobble stick for the loader (previously ran of of the rear remotes), fixed the steering, and some other minor things, I decided I *SURE* liked 90Hp in such a small package. Now I can't bring myself to sell it to get my investment back!! The mechanic/hoarder combination is *NOT* profitable. 😂😉

    Looks like it’s cutting pretty good! Been hot and dry here as well. We’re finally getting a little shot of rain today. We farm produce and don’t complain much about the rain. Hope you got that hay out while ya can and look forward to watching the video if ya did.

      @andrewgrubb8947 I, as well, got some rain 3.2" one day and 2.9" couple of days later. Feast or famine around here on rain, it seems!! Had enough rain to put the river out of its banks and flood the area/road on the way to the field (still in the river's flood plain, but IS a high spot). I'm a touch hard-headed; bet we get it out!!

    As a collector I’ve bought a lot of saws and sold a few. I find 24 and 28 inch bars on 45-50cc older saws quite often. It doesn’t mean it’s right but it means it worked for someone.

      @FarmlessFarmer-xs1he My first-ever "long bar" was a 28" bar on a Stihl MS270 with a mere muffler mod (cut "fins" in the can). It done what I needed it to do; it was very handy for limbing downed trees because you could reach limbs without stumbling through the tree top. We don't have too much hatred shown here for the people/channels who take flack for running "long bars"... guess I was just trying to head it off at the pass?? Good to hear from ya, Farmless; missed ya!!

After I retired, I was able to quit my BP meds; I still have the side-effect of the "dry unproductive cough" associated with the med... it's been @2 years since I've taken one. 🤷 Keep healthy my friend!!

    Morning Ole Sawdust, love your videos about the daily life of a good ole country boy. I promise to finish the chicken story this next week… now that the whole world knows I’m a procrastinator... just funun ya😄. That little Stihl is a screamer, you finally got it to run like a Husky 😂. When you get those rings seated and balance the right length bar to it, there ain’t nothing in its class, or the next few above it, gonna touch it. I don’t understand all the squishes or squashes you done to that saw, but I can recognize an analytical mind at work and the sound of great running saw. You puff up your chest and stand proud, you did a hell of a job on that Sthil…… Just seeing the trees on your roads and frost-free, you must have trees knocked down everywhere, you had some kick ass wind go through. If you didn’t live so far away I’d paint the tops of my Husky’s white and come help ya…… When I was in the business I had a couple of tractors like yours for riparian work and I built a “reach/yarder” for them out of a heavy duty 1/4”x4” H beam approximately 5’ long. The best way to describe it is it’s just it’s like a 3 point hitch post hole auger for the back of a tractor without the auger and head. The beam can be left straight with an eye and hook welded on the underside towards the end . It will allow you to raise the end of the log/tree and yard in 2 to 3 times the weight. I know you can build one easily with your skills and tools. Just saying…… If you had of gotten your bar and chain stuck, I call those look arounds… you immediately look around to see if anyone saw you… I guess you can call them edits. I have to go to the big city 300 miles from camp next week for three or four days for speech therapy appointments because I’m having trouble swallowing. I ain’t exactly sure what speech therapy has to do with swallowing. Maybe talking country all my life is the cause of not being able to swallow my lovely wife’s sometimes dry pork chops. Wife thinks if I should at least try to cut smaller pieces instead of stuffing the whole pork chop in and wolf it down, might help. Anyhow, because of a previous engagement the wife has, I will be in the big city of Reno Nevada for nearly a week all by myself. That’s scary… My wife really loves me though, she got a motel on the outskirts of town and set up a taxi to drive me to and from my appointments… city drivers and mountain man drivers don’t mix… myself, I think she just wants her truck back in one piece… Any which way, I will have lots of time (hiding in the motel room) to finish the chicken story and the story about my lazy brother in laws smokehouse (you might remember him and his firewood needs I wrote you about a few months ago). Well he passed away last winter at 82… God bless him… My sister divorced him back in 1968 because of his laziness, with the final straw being his smoked house escapade. There was no doubt he was the laziest man I ever knew… and me being the dumbest… but I still out foxed him in the end… he ain’t gonna cheat me out 6 more cords of firewood this winter. Well I’ve rambled on long enough. See ya around the next bend. Ole Mountain Man

      @olemountainman3996 The Ol Stihl punches above her weight class doesn't she??!! ...and kicks, scratches, eye gouges, and curses like a Sailor when called upon!.
      I understand the procrastinator part in ya; I've always THOUGHT about becoming a procrastinator... never got around to it... maybe next week?
      You GOTTA make them Stihls run; Husky makes a strong-enough mount that you can tie a skidder to the handle and pull it out of a pinched log; Stihl decided to go the other way... it cuts all the way through before gravity even has time to act!! 😉
      I've got enough trees down that 10 gal of chainsaw gas wouldn't get them all blocked up. It's a MESS!!
      I like the idea of your yarder/reacher; mostly, I can get close enough to the log, so I don't require the reach. What I do: I use a Cat III 3-point quick attach; it will straddle a log and I can hook a chain to the 3rd link position; I can adjust its height to place the right weight on the back of the tractor and also carry the front of the log out of the mud.
      I sure do have plenty of LQQk arounds, but I usually leave THEM... I save my editing skills for when I mumble stuff under my breath!!!
      Not sure what speech therapy has to do with it either!!?? I had an old boss that had his throat stretched... don't know if they used one of them deals we used to put in leather shoes, or what?? He got to where he couldn't swallow chicken breast or 'poke' chops either... anything dry. I suggested he could save some money by eating like *I* do... homemade apple sauce with my poke chops and cranberry jelly (that stuff that keeps the shape of the can when you dig it out with your Barlow) on my chickun n turkey!!
      I sure wish ya a safe and successful trip to the city lights; hope you are able to get a little rest; first time I ever slept where I could see a yard (or street) light was the night I was shipping out of the MEPS station on my way to Uncle Sam's Yacht Club for boot camp; I still have flashbacks of that. ....NOT bootcamp... that was a breeze... them dang street lights, traffic noises, and lack of critter noises still haunt me!! Hope you're able to get fixed up so you can swaller a whole green persimmon without even noticing!!
      I *DO* remember your Brother In Law, but didn't wanna spook ya off by making you feel SOOO far behind in the story0debt you've built-up to me and everyone else here. 😉 Laziest man I ever seen was sitting on a stump under a shade tree and was whimpering and crying... asked him what was the problem and he explained that he had accidentally sat down and pinched his family jewels... I tried to comfort him and explained that the agony would ease-up pretty soon... he didn't think so; he speculated that it probably wouldn't even BEGIN to feel better until he had the gumption to shift his weight to take the pressure off of them. 😉🤷🤣
      Dang, I love the banter with ya!!! Tell your bride that I appreciate her ability to put up with a couple of people like you and me!!

      @@HayChaffandSawdust1 Damn, I’ll bet you met my brother in law a sitting on that stump, besides lazy they used to call him pancakes….. After my speech therapy if I start talking like that news anchor man on the BBC news channel you all come and put me out of my misery….. Back when my wife and I were young we both remember when our grandmothers or aunts used to write letters to our moms and how excited we would get when our moms would read them to us after supper and hang on every word. Now my wife has me read all our bantering back and forth and it takes us back to a much simpler time before the art of writing was exchanged for five words and six emojis. We’re coming up on our 59th anniversary in a month and when it comes to teasing or being the source of a joke between each other is what has kept us young and feisty. There isn’t a word written between you and I that she doesn’t have me read to her while laughing to the end. Thank you, Ole Mountain Man

      I love to hear how luck you and your bride BOTH are... well, it probably had less to do with "luck" and more about being friends.
      We was purdy poor a growing up mom used to read to us too. I remember one winter, we didn't have much to eat, so mom sat us around and read us recipes. Well, we didn't know it at the time, but my sister was hard of hearing... dang near starved to death!! Good luck with your therapy. I won't be able to tell if you talk like a jolly bloke or still still talk like an Ol Mountain Man... as long as you don't start typing with them backwards "R's or them symbols that look like a goat flying through a house on a pitchfork, I reckon I can still understand ya!!

      @jasentonguepowersaws4206 I also like a bit longer bar; 28 is what I've gotten used to. My dad doesn't want one-inch shorter OR longer than a 20" whether it be on an MS170 or a Chev Small Block. I guess, mentally, I was trying to ward-off all of the hatred that I see toward other's channels for running a "long bar" and hating on them for being a shill for Sawin' William Glimmer.
      i hear ya though!! I damaged my back while I was in the 2nd grade; most days I'm OK and some days I can't put on my socks by myself; a long bar allows me to keep my back straighter and make life a WHOLE lot easier. Hope all good with you an all of your loved ones. as well!!

    We’ve run a 32” bar on a 261 quite a bit without any issues. We run good bar oil and opened up the intake and extake so it can breathe better. The longer bar isn’t going to pull more hp out of the engine causing it to go nuclear. We have 241’s that are awesome with 24” bars.

    • @HayChaffandSawdust1
      @HayChaffandSawdust1  Před měsícem +1

      @PurpleNovember That's quite a load; I'll bet the chain is sharp!! Skip or full compliment? I refuse to use a bar shorter than 20"; had to modify one to fit my MS250 bc the longest with that mount is 16 or 18; I just can't live like that!!

      @@HayChaffandSawdust1 3/8 full skip chisel hex, but the stock 20” .325 full comp was more of a load and didn’t cut as fast(in real world situations). A twelve pound power head is a real back saver with a 32” on it, great reach from a standing position. It’s not really for full cuts but it’ll do them no problem.
      Short bars are great for top handles but that’s about all we use them on. I modified medium Stihl mount Oregon Versacut to fit the 241’s

      @PurpleNovember I've never seen skip chain of any sort for sale in my neck of the woods. I've never even seen it in-person. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of it and need to buy a roll sometime to play with it. I did have a .325 full comp/20" bar and 8 pin drive on that 026 a while back when I was comparing to an 029 a few mods ago; it was pretty dang quick, but it was in ginko (soft wood) and only about 10" of THAT.

    • @PurpleNovember
      @PurpleNovember Před měsícem +1

      @@HayChaffandSawdust1 We order all of our chain to get what fits our needs and budget. That full comp .325 cuts fast but it dulls quicker than 3/8 and binds up a more in our cutting conditions.
      Full comp, semi-skip, and full skip chain can be used to tune the saw to cutting conditions and engine power curve. Like race car rear end ratios for certain tracks is dictated by engine power curve.
