Here's a helpful tip. Before you remove the old switch, take a pencil or marker and mark the spot against the round ring on both sides. Then remove the old switch and align it EXACTLY alongside the new switch. Then mark the new switch at the EXACT same spot where you marked the old switch. This way, both old and new switches have the EXACT markings. So when you install the new switch, you can use the markings to guide you as to where to lock it in place. I did this and got everything to work on the first try by using the markings on the new switch as a guide.

This video was extremely helpful. I was able to quickly figure out why my brake lights were staying on and fixed it so it would work until I can go get the piece that I need because the stores are closed now. I am a female that needs to know these things. Thank you so much for this great detailed video. The videography was great too. I am subscribing.

This made changing that switch very easy the shifter would not shift out of park and the brake lights would. not come on. I changed the switch, did the easy adjustment and it was a fantastic and easy job thanks to this video!

This same switch (the other 2 contacts) are for the cruise control. One set of contacts can go bad or shift and the others work fine (brake lights can work like normal but you need to press the button much further in for the cruise to stay engaged). So sometimes you just have to replace the switch.. That's where I am. Great video to describe how the switch comes out and is adjusted.

i just want to add the quick comment. this video helped me out a bunch and i was able to get my brake lights working again. what i did was took the switch apart which was very easy just the two clips on the sides and cleaned the contacts off on the switch because they were covered in carbon and wouldnt make a connection so my lights never came on. just cleaned them up with paper towel and alcohol and put it back in and it worked perfectly!!

This video confirmed another problem I have been having with my 2003 Accord 3.0L. My TCS warning triangle and TCS letters on my dash lights. It turns out that this switch for the brake lights can also cause this trouble light to come on, making one think the traction control system is misbehaving! FYI

I knew my grommet fell apart because it was laying on my floor mat and the brake lights stayed on. I found this before my battery died! I knew what was wrong. Same problem with multiple vehicles over the years.
I used your video to remove the panels and gain access to the switch/grommet area without breaking anything👍 lol

Great video. Thanks also for pointing out the right fuse location. That's all that was causing my issue. For some reason the fuse was in the #10 location (unused) when it was supposed to be in the #13 location (brake lights and horn). As soon as I switched the fuse to the right location in the fuse box, the problem was solved. Not sure how the fuse got in the wrong location, but happy it's fixed.

I had the left and right lights not work while the center light remained functional, no blown fuses/relays and the brake switch and bulbs were fine. I fixed the problem by disconnecting and re-connecting the plug towards the back of the trunk on the driver side close to where the wires split to go to the rear/middle light.

Question on the brake switch "fine tuning" ... If the switch is not replaced tight enough. Is it possible that the brake lights will work like they're supposed to... But the cruise control function could be impacted to not stay on (because it thinks the brakes are being applied)??

Could not tell if TCS motor fuse was good or not? My meckanic says to clean battery terminals and the fender wall wire harness connection. Which i will do today. What else could be happening to keep the triangle ane 'TCS' coming up on dash?? any help? the pump module is around $1100, so i am hoping it could be just wheel sensors or something cheaper.
