    My 6HP26 (2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas) is running well, but I still found myself watching the video for the sheer fun of it! Thanks for the entertainment! Do you ever see 6HP26 failures from using "recommended" fluid other than Lifeguard 6? Like Valvoline Maxlife, or Amsoil Signature Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF? Cheers

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před 2 měsíci

      Not always, but yes. I have seen issues with not using the recommended fluid. And I would never mix fluids. Using a different fluid on a fresh build, maybe. But like I said, you can run into issues.

    Hi, love watching your videos. I'm trying this transmission for the first time. Came from a 05 navigator. It had codes before overhauling. Gear 5 incorrect error, 3-4 shift error. Put everything together, used a sonnax zip kit, put everything back together. But now, reverse doesn't engage, and it still has those same codes.

      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před rokem

      Thanks. If you had not cleared the codes after the rebuild you need to do that. They will not automatically do it. The adaptives also need to be reset and the shifts relearned after that. If you had cleared the codes and they returned you probably have a cracked 4-5-6 drum. As far as the reverse. I would take another look at the valve body and make sure all the check balls are in the correct locations and make sure everything was done correctly with the kit. Keepers in the correct locations, etc..

    Tom, STUECKL is German for "piece". Or, IOW, "piece list" or "parts list".

    Hello. Have you repaired these units in the recent years? How's the parts availability? Especially hard parts. I've seen in the comment you've mentioned it's hard to get EVEN A BUSHING kit for them. Strange since this is a popular unit. I'm buying a towing vehicle with such transmission , about to tow 2500-2600 miles every month a trailer with total weight of 4000-4100lbs. I'm thinking of installing aftermarket cooler and changing the fluid every 20000mi. Thanks.

      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před měsícem +1

      Yes, I see them all the time. It is hit and miss on the parts. Things have gotten crazy since Covid.

    Do really we need to be mark on the front pump gear
    Any indication to putting back properly
    !?
    Thanks

      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před 8 měsíci +1

      You should get used to marking them in some fashion. Not all transmissions will have identifying marks and should be put back in the way they come out. This transmission however does have identifying marks and they face up. You will not know if someone has been in the unit and put them in upside down if you don't mark it.

      Could you post a picture or video on your profile of them? If not go to my Instagram and post it there so I can see which ones you are talking about. The two you are describing are not even close to each other, and you cannot put them in the wrong spot. Either that I am way off on what you are describing.
